for another fascinating Daily Mail read:

 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3082069/THE-STEVEN-GERRARD-KNOW-Jamie-Carragher-Jamie-Redknapp-open-former-Liverpool-team-mate-time-great-ahead-Anfield-goodbye.html

Jamie Redknapp and Jamie Carragher share their fondest memories of Stevie Me

When asked 'could he have won more' Redknapp responds, beginning with his favourite word - 'listen'

'Listen, people will always argue he could have won more, but, for instance, there are a lot of players who have won Premier League medals for Manchester United who couldn't lace his boots.' and in doing so Redknapp avoids the question of whether Gerrard could have won more

Was Gerrard right to stay at Liverpool ?

Carragher: ' In terms of turning down Chelsea in 2004, it was 100 per cent right, the right thing for him to do. You do not move to a rival. You fight to get your club to the top and that is what he did the year after, when we won the Champions League in Istanbul' Failing to mention that Gerrard handed in a transfer request in 2005, wanting to join us after they won the CL in Istanbul

edit: Redknapp claims 'Gerrard is a bit of Scholes, bit of Keane, bit of Vieira, bit of Lampard. He’s those four rolled into one. And the other four are in the top five, but Stevie is No 1. The best.' (These four inferior players have a combined total of 24 Premier League titles compared to Stevie's 0)

Also quite cute that after being asked to sum him up in three words Redknapp called Stevie 'Generous. Humble. Superman'

If Piers Morgan is Kevin Pietersen's personal cheerleader then the same can be said about Redknapp and Our Stevie

Presumably we will get a similar article tomorrow reflecting on Lamp's more successful career in the PL with sweet anecdotes from cousin Jamie. For now Ill just have to watch BBC news replays of Stevie's goal against West Ham 9 years ago (to the day)

i think Stevie me will go further and further down in ranking unless Liverpool manage to get themselves competing. He'll be one of those players you talk about and wonder if they could've done it at a bigger club (ala Le Tissier or even Shearer) and he won't have the international record to back that up. Anyone under 18 will have memories of people telling the Gerrard was great but they'll have only seen him give a daft speech, slip on his arse and then lead England to a group stage exit while assisting Luis Suarez with a mean through ball.

Apart from helping us win the league what has he really done since their fa cup win?

Semi Finals of the CL in 2012

Real, Barca, Bayern, Chelsea.  No one gave us a chance then either, and defence certainly won out that day.

I never think anyone "deserves" anything in football, but I'd love to see Buffon and Pirlo go out as CL champions

Juve can do it, no doubt. Defensive organisation, tactical discipline and collective tenacity can go a long way in this competition. And they have the quality in the final third too. Knowing how Barca play, there will be opportunities for Juve on the break. That said, do they really have the pace to capitalise?

Nobody is stopping Barca this season I'm afraid, only Madrid would of had a chance I think.

Would be very surprised but my money is going on Barcelona. I would like Juve to win though, they are a class side but I just don't think they'll manage to contain Barcelona. The attack they have going on right now is too much to handle this season.

I just hope whoever wins we see a good game and not a complete thrashing, doubt Juventus will fold that easily but with Barcelona playing as well as they are anything can happen.

Can't wait for this Gerrard love-in to end now...no player has generated more headlines for doing so little

You wouldn't think that in the last 10 years he's only won the FA Cup and League Cup the way all this is playing out.

You wouldn't think that in the last 10 years he's only won the FA Cup and League Cup the way all this is playing out.

When you say it like that, kin hell. Obviously they'll always reference the CL win (fair enough) but in the last 10 years, that's it? That's only one more trophy than Wigan and Birmingham.

Having once been to a hull, its no surprise he needed drugs to get through life there.
