Seems to be a thing in football these days, teams often don't strengthen in the areas they need. Arsenal have needed a DM and defenders for years yet they sign players like Ozil and Sanchez. Midfield has aldo been a problem for United for a hell of a long time yet they haven't really done anything about it. I remember Real Madrid doing the same for a lot of years too.

We're the same, took us how long to get a proper striker  :laugh2:

2 games...1point lol

MUFC have agreed a fee of €75m + €15m add-ons for Angel Di Maria. (ESPN) Excluding €250,000 wages per week. Ed Woodward desperate.

Yikes. If true I guess that is why we did not try to sign him....

Despite not performing, Rooney will not be happy at Di Maria's wages. Cue Rooney stropping.

On another point, someone needs to tell Sir Alex to stay away from home games.

Hey Spud congrats on going top of the league. Reckon your new gaffa can keep you there?

Thanks. I think it's hard to know how good we are as we were inconsistent last week and QPR were poor today. I guess that means 'no' but we seem much improved compared to most of last season and there's a level of commitment there that's good. We were pressing up the pitch today and that brings risks against teams better than QPR.

Well done to Chelsea too - a smooth start to the season and it looks as if you have skillful, hard working, players in most positions. I think that, when it comes down to it, the title will be between you and City (an obvious point but true).

Even considering QPR were poor. It's good to bag plenty of goals to build confidence and up the GD. Would like to see Spurs in a CL spot over Arsenal or Liverpool.

Me too. I'd be very happy and amused if we took a CL place at Arsenal's expense.

Wayne Looney is making Welbeck look good...

About to be named the next England captain...what a joke..the armband goes from one over-rated scouser to another

Well if James is worth 60mil and Bale 90mil, Di Maria probably is worth around 75 mil.

That is if anyone else is stupid enough to pay as much as Real do for players.

Di Maria is good but he's not that f**king good. The figures being mentioned are ridicules and there are probably only 2/3 players in that bracket. Di Maria doesn't come close. I can see him ( maybe it's more in hope) being a flop at the price and would love to see him bring lots of disharmony to United's dressing room, especially if there is any truth in the £200k/ week.

He isn't THAT great. He's good, but he's not in the top 20 list of best players.

I think he is.  He was the best player on the pitch in the CL final and had a cracking season last season.  United seem to have more pressing concerns though, not sure why they're breaking the transfer record for him.  If they don't make the top 4 now they're in deep sh*t.

He is good but is the transfer fee value for money? No, I would value Di Maria, A player with a questionable attitude and slight flaky character at around £45/47 million, I mean the game's gone mad if he is worth £64 million. How much is Hazard worth then? or Aguero?? Both players who are much more marketable, Equally as good and are same age frame as Di Maria, If he is £64 million then the pair I have mentioned are beyond 70 million in my opinion.
