March 13, 201511 yr How brilliant is the Championship title run in shaping up?! 4 teams currently joint 1st, with only goal difference separating them. 5th placed Norwich are only a point behind them and 6th placed Brentford 4 points behind. It's brilliant - they all exchange places so often that there are arguably seven teams in with a realistic chance of the title. Must be absolutely intolerably nerve-wracking for the fans of the teams involved and certainly makes me grateful for the position we are currently in. It's a shame the Championship relegation battle (and the Premier League one for that matter) isn't quite as exciting, although anything which makes Millwall's position in the bottom three more remote can't be a bad thing.
March 13, 201511 yr Different. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-31869161 A Norwich City fan was left steaming when his mother accidentally cooked 16 tickets he had bought for an upcoming football match at Brighton. Mikey Knight's mother accidentally picked up the envelope containing the tickets as she popped a chicken in to roast on Tuesday. The charred remains, worth £500, were dished up by his red-faced mum when he arrived for supper. Brighton and Hove Albion has agreed to provide him with replacements, he said. Bricklayer Mr Knight, 28, from Taverham, Norfolk, said: "I went round for tea on Tuesday and my mum asked me if I was in a good mood. I said 'yes'. "Then I was told the football tickets had got roasted." His mother had put the roast-in-the-bag bird on top of the envelope, where it stuck firmly until she looked at the chicken 40 minutes later. "There were the tickets, roasting away nicely," Mr Knight said. "I thought it was a wind-up at first, but then I opened the envelope and the 16 tickets were inside, all black." He had bought them on behalf of a group of his friends who regularly attend matches together. "There wouldn't usually be this many tickets to cook, but as the match is on Good Friday more people wanted to come along," Mr Knight said. His mother took them back to Norwich City and after a member of staff emailed the Brighton club, Mr Knight was told they had agreed to provide replacements on the day "as a goodwill gesture". "I've already got my train tickets, but it's a good job those didn't go to my mum's address. She might have put them in for afters." Norwich City and Brighton and Hove Albion, who face each other in the Championship fixture on 3 April, have not yet commented. Thought the chicken tasted a bit gamey.... Don't worry, I'll show myself the door.
March 13, 201511 yr Real Madrid and marca...simply two of the worst things in football http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/31876428
March 13, 201511 yr So Carragher has had another rant in the daily heil about Chelsea's dark arts and how club will nEver be loved, blah, blah blah...won't post the link, but it's just incredible how bitter this tosspot is...have you ever won the league, have you fcuk
March 14, 201511 yr I couldn't give 2 sh*ts if anyone else loves us. I double don't care because winning things makes people hate us more so bring it on, hate away. Edited March 14, 201511 yr by Stim
March 14, 201511 yr This is all sour grapes. Jamie would be ecstatic if Liverpool were top of the league even if they chased referrees around the pitch every week. Of course the controversy around Chelsea continues to feed the media machine and that really is it's main purpose. These things are said to provoke a public reaction and sell papers. In the medias view we are fast becoming this era's Leeds - tough, resilient, uncompromising. Unfortunately in Oscar, Fabregas, Ramires and Willian we have a soft and at times lazy midfield. That is our real weakness. I'm not a big fan of the Brazilian contingent because I think that's where the walking pace football we saw the other night comes from. I'm not sure Cesc can deliver for 90 minutes. Hopefully we will address our shortcomings in the summer and then we might find the confidence to play a more expansive game. At the minute we seem risk averse and predictable.
March 14, 201511 yr Let's be honest, how many recently successful teams are loved by neutrals anyway? United - no. Barcelona - no. Not sure about Bayern? But I guess a lot of neutrals in Germany won't like them due to them always taking players from their rivals. Atletico Madrid and Dortmund are the only examples I can think of. Which United? They've had a couple of teams who neutrals would've loved, specifically the 1994 team, the 1999 treble-winning team and possibly the 2008 team that was one of the best attacking teams I've ever seen (Ronaldo, Scholes, Rooney, Tevez all arguably in their primes). Barcelona will surely have been loved by neutrals because they were one of the best teams ever under Pep. Bayern...tough to say but again, there's a lot to admire about a team who arguably formed the basis of the World Cup win. Ultimately neutrals probably want to see teams who play good football and that's not Jose's focus. Carragher is making a very fair point in that regard, but I don't see why any of us should care. March 14, 201511 yr All of those teams were fantastic, but I thought most neutrals don't like United? Hence why everyone cheered when City won the league. Barcelona were a fantastic team but all the refereeing decisions and diving within that team meant a lot didn't like them, although did still admire them. I think that 99 United team was liked by neutrals because they had players like Beckham, Giggs, Stam and a few others plus they beat ze Germans. Barcelona under Pep were greatly liked, maybe even loved by many 'neutrals' who could care less about referees' decisions. They had one of the greatest players of all time in one of the greatest teams of all time playing some of the best football that's ever been played - that's going to attract many admirers.
March 14, 201511 yr That's true. But as you said, we shouldn't really care what others think :) Exactly.
March 14, 201511 yr Hope Bradford don't overdo it today, hope they'll be in good shape for Monday. Come on Bradford.
March 14, 201511 yr Can't stand Pelegrini. Reminds me of someone I used to work with. Smug and ripe with self importance. Can't wait to see his face when Jose lifts the title.
March 14, 201511 yr Bamford's playing for Boro today, if you want to watch it: http://firstrows.biz/soccer/middlesbrough-vs-ipswich-town-frs1044g0
March 14, 201511 yr QPR: how did they get promoted?? They are awful, awful. They should introduce mercy killing for clubs like QPR. They'd be relegated today and all points from their remaining games would be allocated to their opponents.
