January 3, 201610 yr I'm taking my son to see it tomorrow. Again. [emoji5] You mean your son is taking you to see it again :-)
January 3, 201610 yr Well done JJ Abrams! Abrams did alright. It's a shame you can't say the same about Lawrence Kasdan.
January 3, 201610 yr Finally saw Star Wars today, I loved it. A million times better than the prequels (which i didn't hate- I actually quite like Phantom Menace and Revenge of the Sith) . I was just gripped throughout. I loved Fin and Rey, and BB-8. The action was excellent and Harrison Ford surprised me, I thought he would just phone it in as Hans Solo but I think he and Leila were perfect. My only gripe is that "supreme leader", who looked more like out of the Lord of the Rings universe than Star Wars. He just looks awful. And who is he? Horsesh*t. I'll add that Kylo Ren was a bit of a stroppy school-boy. Other than that, I thought it was a more than satisfying space-romp. I have not read any of the comments in this thread for fear of spoilers, so I've just posted this here without reading other people's opinions. I'll add that I am not a Star Wars fan at all (my vice is James Bond) but I think this film would thrill any neutral. Well done JJ Abrams! I actually quite like the fact that Kylo Ren is such a strop, it shows him battling with his internal demons, and the conflict of living up to the Dark Side of Vader. I'm also perplexed that people expected Leia to come back on to the screen in her 1970's body, and not her "woman in her 70's" body. But that a conversation more for another thread about the decay of society..... maybe we're all falling into the trap of the dark side.
January 4, 201610 yr just saw the movie in 3D - freakin' awesome - The First Order seems to be more ruthless than the Evil Empire - can't wait for Episode VIII to be released next year - btw did you peeps realized that Harrison Ford broke his leg during the shooting of this film - they had to do some crazy stuff just so they could shoot the scenes
January 18, 201610 yr Finally got to see it today having avoided all plots and reviews...didn't realise that to give franchise a reboot, they just recycled the same plots from the originals...and the actress that played rey was terrible...best thing about it was Harrison ford managing to still bring a lot of entertainment as Han Solo Edited January 18, 201610 yr by The Brit
January 18, 201610 yr As a huge Star Wars fan I thought it was the worst of all VII and a shameful ripoff of A New Hope. Acting was good but Kylo Ren is the biggest let down in cinema history and looked less threatening than our attack this season. Really disappointed. Wouldn't go that far...the first two prequels stunk more than Cuadrado's chelsea career...jar jar binks alone brings back nightmares

I found it to be just a recycled upgraded version of "A New Hope". If it weren't for nostalgia I doubt I'd have been that impressed with it.
January 18, 201610 yr I'm disappointed Force Awakens didn't get an Oscar nomination for best adapted screenplay.
April 7, 201610 yr really like the gritty and dark tone of the trailer, also donnie yen space martial arts? yes please
April 9, 201610 yr i think there must be something wrong with me as i think star wars is one of the most over rated set of movies ever, ok but that is all As a film franchise, the most over rated for me are the Indiana Jones films, Raiders was decent but it went down hill rapidly from there. Now they are planning on a new one.....with Indy in his 70's. Ok.
April 9, 201610 yr As a film franchise, the most over rated for me are the Indiana Jones films, Raiders was decent but it went down hill rapidly from there. The second one has some classic action sequences, but it's not good as a whole. The third one, though, is one of the best sequels in any franchise. The fourth one is probably as bad as Dark Knight Rises. Maybe even worse. Edited April 9, 201610 yr by Maksimov
April 9, 201610 yr I'm mixed with that trailer. AT-ATs on the beach, an imposing villain and less of a focus on what weird lightsaber the characters have now in this film is good. Negatives on the other hand is the suspicion that the main character is going to just like Rey, too much of a perfect character that excels at everything she tries and doesn't really have a single negative trait. That "I rebel" line is up there with some of Lucas' worst.
April 11, 201610 yr so as i understand it....this movie is about the stolen plans of the death star just before A New Hope.....so Darth Vader and princess Leia must be in this yes?
April 15, 201610 yr I'm mixed with that trailer. AT-ATs on the beach, an imposing villain and less of a focus on what weird lightsaber the characters have now in this film is good. There is already speculation that Jyn Erso will be revealed to be Rey's mother: http://youtu.be/ODnZMY0WWss The timelines of the movies do make it possible. Edited April 15, 201610 yr by Huttsey
April 27, 201610 yr Just seen 'The Force Awakens'. Despite the plot holes ('why is Luke's light sabre here?' - 'Hey, don't worry about it') and the film being 'A New Hope' recast, I was very impressed. I hope they match this standard with future films. Edited April 27, 201610 yr by Spudulike
May 2, 201610 yr I'm mixed with that trailer. Yep, from that trailer it does seem like we have another perfect character that tries to come across all cool and bad ass and is good at everything. It's what i hated about Rey. People seem to get really defensive when you say that Rey is overpowered but it's the truth, she can do just about anything. When she used the force for the first time, she overpowered someone who has been using the force his whole life, stupid. She is great with a lightsaber, she can beat everybody up, she mastered the Millennium Falcon very quickly and she seemed to know more about it than Han.........and to top it all off, she can even speak Wookie. If she is this good at everything then how has she struggled all of her life on Jakku ? I'm hoping she has had her memory tampered with and she actually hasn't been on Jakku as long as she thinks she has been. Then they can say that everything she is good at she learned before she was sent to Jakku. so as i understand it....this movie is about the stolen plans of the death star just before A New Hope.....so Darth Vader and princess Leia must be in this yes? I hope so, it would be pretty stupid if Vadar and Leia weren't involved in this story. Edited May 2, 201610 yr by Scott Harris
May 3, 201610 yr ^ On the lightsabre point, when did they start to just lightly wound? One hit killed Ben, another took off Luke's hand. Yet Kylo Ren is seemingly just scratched by Rey's sabre despite, in the same fight, it literally felling trees?!
May 4, 201610 yr Nothing to do with the film but one fan's plan to mark "May the Force" day. For a good cause. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-36190603
