He played 689 minutes and started on 7 games, Chelsea played ~4860 minutes in all competitions last season, I don't think he amassed much minutes. The Spanish is less competitive yes, but that doesn't mean there aren't every strong teams in it, given the pressure on managers in Madrid/Barca to deliver trophies at season's end or face the chop, yet at Barca they ensure youth are given chances as it is part of their tradition. If he wasn't hauled off would you kindly explain why he was subbed off and also Jose's post match comments on him.

According to transfermarkt.  which is almost a third of all game time if true.

And on Jose's comments on RLC 'I think he has to look to the intensity and the defensive tactical work that people like Ramires, (Cesc) Fabregas did and he didn't.' to me that isn't about him making mistakes its that his overall game isn't there yet and that is something that will come with time and I have previously explained that this is the reasoning behind my belief that he was substituted as we needed more solidity in midfield and the substitution gave us that and to me vindicated the decision.

Edit; just listened to the presser this is Jose's exact said reasoning.

Like I said, if he doesn't play he doesn't develop and improve on what he needs to learn. Funny he cited Cesc as an example to intensity and defensive tactical work. Anyways, there isn't any reason to prolong this discussion, its been 6 games since he last played. Let's continue to watch and see how many matches RLC would play in the next few months.

Not to argue, more out of intrigue. How many minutes were you expecting the youngsters to play?

For me Kurt Zouma has had more minutes than I would have expected, I would have been happy with half of what he has had but given the circumstances I feel he needs to be and is our most deserving of his place at CB.
Kenedy has had more exposure to the first team than I thought he would (which was very sporadic appearances with the odd cup game but I suppose he was the most unknown) and he has impressed. I hope he continues to get game time here and there.
Baba has got a little more than what I was expecting but again under the circumstances that's expected and should probably have been given a lot more exposure.
I have been disappointed with the amount of game time RLC and Traore have gotten and would have liked to see them get a little bit more but given the predicament the team has been under I understand why they haven't been given as much of an opportunity as I would have liked as even the cup games have been must wins in order to gain momentum, and considering my expectations were cup games and the odd sub appearance it hasn't been too far off, hopefully they do get more of an opportunity as the season progresses and hopefully we have a good FA cup run in which they are heavily involved.

With messi/suarez/neymar up front, barca could play 14 year olds behind them and still beat at least 15 of the teams in the league

I was devastated he wasn't in that Carling cup game against Stoke, that was the game he could have showed his value. Right now with every game is a must win ( like our past 5 games), there's no way Jose would take a chance on him. I honestly don't think he could do any worse than what we have seen from certain senior players. His lack of defensive skills and work rate are just lame excuses for not picking him.

Tbh I didn't expect us to sign Kenedy. I had thought we would have baker, rlc and traore get more involved in the team and we would rotate more this season. Glad for Zouma, I think he's gonna turn out to be massive for us. Anyways, its just November, l expect more game time for the other come May.

'The England Under-21 midfielder will not be short of offers and he has attracted interest from elsewhere in the Barclays Premier League, the SkyBet Championship and European clubs in the past few months, but it remains to be seen whether José Mourinho will sanction his departure.'

It also goes on to say he just wants to play football and playing for the U21's would also be fine.

Thus I'm not sure whats best for him, obviously we could just give him a lot more game time here but if that isn't going to happen and his appearances stay sporadic do we send him on loan for much more competitive game time or do we keep him here and play him more in the youth teams..
If he were to be loaned what level would be best for him to play at? lets face it a loan similar to Bamford where he gets loaned to a BPL to just sit on the bench is no more beneficial than him sitting in the squad here.
Do we take the safe route and loan him to a Championship side the level might not be high enough but at least we are making sure he gets a starting spot maybe Reading or Brentford could be a suitable as they are nearby and have Chelsea loanees already in place.
Maybe we choose somewhere in Europe at a higher level than the Chapionship. Moanco were keen but they now have Pasalic who is further along in his development and therefore game time would most likely be harder to come by, another team which we have a good relationship with is Mochengladbach, I believe they would find a good use for him and since they are still in with a shout of Europa league football there it might be a good fit, he would also play with Christensen and Hazard so it hopefully won't be an uncomfortable environment. There is also Vitesse where he would get to play with a lot of fellow Chelsea loanees and he definitely get a game but is the level of football high enough. There is obviously many other foreign options but there is always the issue of how he will settle at somewhere abroad.
Or do we risk a BPL team, are there any in which he would be a starter or even just some where he would get a decent amount of game time?
Aston Villa could do with more depth in midfield and could certainty find a use for him in their midfield. Likewise he could probably push his way into the Bournemouth, Sunderland and Watford sides. But do we want him to play for a side in the relegation scrap, my pick out of these would be Watford mainly as they are close by and he will have a friend there in Ake.
Further up the league we have teams like Leicester, Crystal Palace, West Brom and maybe even West ham in which he might be able to get himself into the team, but its a lot more likely for him to have a more of a bit part role at these clubs.

What I'm expecting to see however is for Ruben to stay at Chelsea whilst playing more for the U21's, but a loan in which he gets a lot a game time would also be very useful.

I think he stays at Chelsea. But if he were to be loaned to a prem team he would surely be a first team player for many sides. Villa, West Brom, Bournemouth, Watford, Swansea just to name a few. Probably newcastle/sunderland as well. and maybe even some decent sides like West ham

He would play regularly, be it in the starting XI or off the bench, for pretty much every team in the league bar United and City, if he was their one of their own player. On loan however I can't see that many willing to risk it for a player they don't even own. It should definitely be a loan in the premier league but I don't see the point in sending him to a relegation fighting/bottom half team, might as well keep him here and actually play him as he'll be under similar pressure and circumstances.

If he would get playing time here I would be all for it, but if he cant get on the pitch with the performances of those infront of him, hes not getting on any time soon. We might see a couple of 79 minute cameos in April/May when the season is just about over. Id rather risk a loan

I wan't happy but devastated?

What are you, his Dad?!!!

Instead of playing him.....

To be honest, I don't think we will have any player from the academy to play as a starter for us. We have big talents, but we prefer to sell them or bench them until they will leave by themselves.

We have good amount of promising young players like:

Ake

Loftus-Cheek

Solanke

Christensen

Baker

Brown (until now he's disappointing)

Chalobah ( I still believe that he can make it)

These players can be our future, we have to test them as much as we can to confirm that they're good enough to play for us. I can't expect all of them to play, but at least 3-4 of them must be in our team. Following them we have few stars that we must consider them in that list as well:

Abraham

Da Silva

Boga

Musonda

Musonda's father telling him to leave, is a matter of time before other parents do the same. We are on top our youth get only meaningless end of season games. We are cr*p you play a good 45 Min's against Villa, we win and you do not play again.

My biggest issue with Jose in all of this, he is scared to give any of our kids a real chance dispite many of our regular players being garbage this season.

At least when you win the league you can point to that as a reason, when you are near relegation you got nothing.

Casts a doubt over whether Jose can be here long term. If RLC cant get into the team why would any young player believe he can in the future?

Casts the biggest doubt for me, unless the club are just happy to use the youth team to make money in which case then they are happy.

Why do their parents encourage the players to join big clubs and then complain when they don't get a chance, what did they expect would happen.

Because that's what parents tend to do. They're taking care of their kids.

Regardless of what they have done they have to seek the best for their kids now. (There's no point in thinking like this: Oh I shouldn't have let my kid go to Chelsea, it's my mistake, so I shouldn't do anything now.)

Exactly. We've seen it before with McEachran and now with Bamford. Although those 2 didn't/don't appear to have the same potential as RLC, but all the same barely got a look in on their respective loans. The only Premier League loan that has really worked out from memory is Sturridge to Bolton. Even with him, after his loan we gave him barely half a season  shunted on the right wing, and he scored goals. After AVB went though, that was pretty much the end of his CFC career. Keep RLC here and play him!

Tbf it is misleading. The quotes from musonda's dad seem to just say that charly needs a loan in january to continue his development. There is no mention off being disappointed at the lack of first team football at chelsea, and he doesn't say anything about wanting a permanent transfer.

Pretty sure christensens dad said something similar last year.

I can understand why young players want to come here, world class facilities and coaching, major exposure in Uefa youth league, and fa youth cup. But I think the time has come where we have to take a punt on 2 or 3.
