Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Featured Replies

Tbh I haven't seen much from Ruben that merits being classed a superb young talent.

He has potential and a decent ability but he doesn't stick out more than Mikel or Ramires and that's why he isn't getting the game time as those others have experience on their side.

He had a good first half against Villa but that's all, he should have got more chances but when Joses job is hanging by a thread it's unrealistic to see him starting over 4 highly experienced players.

The only reason anyone is annoyed is because he's a youngster coming through the ranks. Yes he looks like he has potential and maybe his firs half performance at Villa didn't warrant been substituted but if Jose doesn't think he's worth the risk then maybe he isn't as good as everyone thinks he is.

Matt Law, Daily Telegraph

"Club officials concerned that Stamford Bridge youngster's contract is running down while he remains frozen out of the first team

Chelsea chiefs are concerned that Jose Mourinho’s tough love approach to Ruben Loftus-Cheek will leave them facing a battle to tie the teenager down to a long-term contract.

Loftus-Cheek only has just over 18 months to run on his current Chelsea deal, with Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich among a host of top clubs at home and abroad closely monitoring his situation.

Chelsea will not want Loftus-Cheek to enter the final year of his contract, but realise that convincing him to commit to a new five-year deal at the present time would be difficult."

RLC should learn from Mata Debruyne, Moses and co. He needs to start looking somewhere else because despite the fact that he is a quality youngster and has impressed when giving the chance, Jose just doesn't rate him. So he cant make it here if Jose is still around, if i can send a message to him i will tell him to join Moses at West Ham. Bilic will certainly give him chance and help him to develop his potential.

If Players like Barkley or Stones had started there career here they will still be in our reserve or be on loan to a team in the Championship, Holland or Turkey by now. I saw us being linked with the MVP at the just concluded world cup in Chile, Chidiebere Nwakali, i pray he doesnt jump at the chance to join right now with Jose in charge.

Jose is expecting an 18 year old kid to play the perfect game. It's harder for a midfielder or striker to make their mark. Zouma had it easier I think having played so many games and coming into a top notch defense.

Truth is, kids will make mistakes but they have to be given time to play and not be put under so much pressure. Jose is putting RLC under too pressure rather than letting him be free to play his natural game and gain confidence on the pitch.

When the team weren't doing well, the manager took even less chances with youngsters. Forget about the I will pick the kids talk, that's just rubbish, the focus is always on the star players to perform better. I think had we been in a position like last year, RLC would have got more game time, mostly like 20 minutes to go and 2 goals up. I hope the club at least give him a new contract, we don't want the Sturridge situation again.

He played when we had nothing to lose or win last season, the way the season has gone thats not a luxury we have atm. Id love to see him play more often but Im not in charge, the man with the trophies is.

I encourage everyone, ruben included, to have a think about why he would want to leave. No club the size or stature of Chelsea is going to give him a ton of games.

Lets see where we are in 6 months. By that time things will work themselves out

Maybe when RLC is 30-35 people will look back and praise Jose for protecting him and bedding him in slowly. When you look at Rooney, he is spent at 30 after playing regularly from 16. Maybe RLC will have a longer and better career in the end because of this period

But there's a thin line between protecting him / bedding him in slowly and giving him the cold shoulder and practically no minutes of playing time. I'm all for not throwing youngsters in at the deep end but they have to play SOME football if we expect them to develop.

We don't know what goes on behind closed doors, Jose could be very friendly with RLC behind the sceans

I will say this, much as I love Jose it does seem that RLC and youth in general are held to higher standard then the more established players, which you would think is odd and should be the other way round?

Looking at the fixtures there are a couple of games which would be perfect for RLC to get some game time.
Firstly Bournemouth (h) 5th dec as this is just 4 days before the Porto game which has now become very important and Jose might want to keep players fresh.
and Watford (h) boxing day as this is only 2 days before Man U away.
Both these games should be considered as comfortable so hopefully we see a player or 2 given a chance.

I'm not convinced any match is to be considered as comfortable this season

I think Rooney has had a stellar career, even if he retires tomorrow. It doesn't matter when you get spent but how much you've played and won.

That's why I believe this protecting argument is just clutching at straws. Jose only plays star players and proven names. This is his style and we have to accept that.

True and I agree

The sad thing is he would actually get game time at Arsenal.

I do think part of the problem is that we're not quite sure of his position. He's not a DM or an AM. He probbarly is an old fashioned centre midfielder.

I'll be honest and admit that I'm not even sure RLC is the answer to our midfield problem. As much as I hope he is, I know I posted sometime back with the view that he wasn't as good as some of the others before him - McEachran, Chalobah & Baker being three. But unless he gets given a chance (that's a PROPER chance - NOT 10 minutes as sub or 45 minutes and then not seen for a month), we will never know. Hate to think we could drop a clanger like SAF / Utd did with Pogba. He may be the next Pogba - he may not, he may disappear into obscurity like many before him but let's try and find out by playing him so we can at least form an opinion.

Because they're missing about 5 CMs. If they were healthy he wouldnt get any more time than here

I think baker is a better centre midfield prospect than rlc. He did well at mk dons on, and he has been the most impressive out of the vitesse players this season.

I also think boga and musonda are better attacking midfielders too.

The one thing rlc has over every prospect that gone before him, is his size. He us physically already able to compete with men.

I'm not sure if he will ever make it here, I have pretty much given up hope of seeing us bring through a world class player. You have to be one of the best players in the world by the time you turn 20, or it is impossible to break into the team.

Zouma is 21. Baba as well.
