Unfortunately that sounds like he may be missing from the first team for a while. If you're not considered tactically capable of playing against Villa, then you're going to struggle to win Mourinho's confidence for any other prem game. Serious work needed on the training pitch to prove he is learning the tactical side before he is trusted again unfortunately. Hopefully the odd cup/champs league game as well 

 

Sounds like typical Jose. All the build up about giving a youngster a chance, gives him either 10 mins at the end or hooks him off early, then some excuse about why we won't see him for months again

He started great yesterday, mobile and involved and couple of trademark driving runs. But tbh, he looked tad out of it after that as villa got tighter on him and had less impact. Matic brought on to counter getsedt and that worked so good decision from Jose. Rubén should get more and more game time imv as he has all the physical assets and seems confident too, just needs more match craft and that comes with more games.

Mourinho did talk about him needing a run of games before this. maybe he will stick to that. but i dont see it. getting hooked at halftime rarely means that you'll be trusted to start again next time, even for senior pros like JT

I don't mind the comment about RLC from Mourinho, although I hope it hasn't dented his confidence. Major question for me which is also the one that applies to our youth policy in general (insert that beating dead horse emoji) - where and when does the tactical learning come in?

Some things can't be taught and over time as RLC plays more and more senior football and he'll become more tactically astute.

The guy may be very young but he clearly has talent, he should be treated the same as any other member of the squad. Mourinho talks positively about him when speaking to the press, but it's hard to take those words seriously when he pulls RLC off at half time against Villa and then leaves him out completely in tonights game.

So that run of games lasted all of 45 minutes.

I don't understand it, seriously. But Jose is the boss and he has everything in his hands, so he probably does the right thing.

I wouldnt complain much if players infront of him were playing well or of he was playing poorly, but they arent and he isnt. Mourinhos insistence of pulling a d benching young players for miniscule mistakes while at the same time giving others chance after chance after chance is getting really hard to stomach

I think if RLC wasn't English, he wouldn't even be close to the first 11. Not because he doesn't have the talent because he does it. He's only been fast tracked because he's English an academy product. Remember RLC's introduction last year? It was the same week Man City announced their huge investment in youth.

Everybody panic, a teenager was subbed off in a crucial league match to give us more stability and didnt start a pivotal Champions League match away from home 2 days later. You tricked us again Jose! ;)

I really want to see him finishing a full game. I hope Jose will play him against Stoke, and let him complete 90 mins.

Big disappointment not to see him today on the bench. He wants to play, he knows how to play, he already showed what he got and what he can offer, but Jose doesn't even let him be on the bench. He always playing the same team without youth players and we losing, what is the point of it?
