January 15, 20179 yr Im so damn impressed with Thibaut he's been a force this year...other than Neuer and maybe Ter Steagan I can't think of a better keep out there right nowYou are kidding right!
January 16, 20179 yr I think he has been very good this year. He was always good at the spectacular, but struggled with the routine stuff. This year it looks as though his routine stuff has got miles better, and that in turn should make the defenders very confident. One thing I would say is his kicking needs improvement. I do get a bit nervous everytime the ball is played back to his feet.
January 16, 20179 yr I thought he had a really good game against Leicester, commanded the area well and was confident in coming out and claiming high balls into the box.
January 16, 20179 yr I always thought he was overated this season he has won us at least 12 point's in some game's

January 16, 20179 yr I think Thibaut is not getting the love he deserves from media. Especially with the way Bravo is playing.

Won't happen. This has been a recurring rumour for years. Madrid based journalists are the worst out the lot.
January 17, 20179 yr This talk has been going on for some time now and I wouldn't be surprised if in summer they come for either De Gea or Courtois. This season Navas is being average and they've been talking about needing a new goal keeper for a while, and the names that always pop up are these two. I am not sure that Courtois would be successful at Real Madrid. They always like keepers with strong personality, and Courtois is a very good goalie but lacks the shouting and commanding characteristics they like at R Madrid.
January 18, 20179 yr Who would you say is performing at a better level? or were you just taken aback by the mentioning of Ter Stegan!I don't think he is performing better than Degea, Oblak,or Loris. How many saves is he making per game? If he is even making saves, how many of them are world class? Let's be realistic, Courtois is yet to prove himself as a top keeper. He is fortunate our current formation makes it difficult for opponents to break us and attack us at will. I will wait till next season when we face top teams in the Champions league before deciding if he has improve. Right now, I can't bet he is anyway better than Pickford. He had the opportunity to prove he is world class last season when we were sh*t defensively, but instead of proving his worth he was busy conceding goals for fun and showing his lack of commitment by speaking about his love for Madrid and how he will like to go back there someday. Its not surprising though that he is focused this season because he know things are going well for us and he will win something at the end of the season.

I can't see them being serious about signing Courtois.
January 18, 20179 yr Its almost as if you dont even actually watch Chelsea matches. And why are you completely ignoring the 2 seasons he spent at Madrid proving himself?

Jesus wept... they say that a good keeper will get you about 15 extra points a season... its just over over half way through the season and you can easily point to 9 points he is responsible for due to world class saves, and this ignores that he seems to be returning back to his first season dominance of the box which is second to none

Pickford? Seriously??

His only one bad season was last one. The prior 1 to that, he had a stellar season with us, taking over Cech's position and helping us win the league. Let's not forget the couple seasons he had at Atletico. He was brilliant and it was no surprise how desperate Atletico were to keep him for another season. He helped them win the league and almost the CL. Courtois does not have to make save after save but one thing he is defo the best at in the league is his command of the box. Countless times he comes and collects crosses, corners. That is enough to prove a top class keeper. We would have drawn that game at Sunderland had it not been for that fantastic save he made from PVA. There are more saves he has made this season that has been crucial which I can't remember on the top of my head but this comparison with Pickford, don't be ridiculous. He is a very good keeper, albeit a rookie but to compare the two is ridiculous. Courtois has proven this season he has everything and it is not simply down to the defence. He assures confidence throughout the team with his dominance.
January 18, 20179 yr Its almost as if you dont even actually watch Chelsea matches. And why are you completely ignoring the 2 seasons he spent at Madrid proving himself?Well, even Bravo was world class in Spain.
January 18, 20179 yr For me top 5 would be Neuer, Lloris, De Gea, Buffon and NavasOblak for Navas and it will be perfect.

But unfortunately I can count them all.
January 18, 20179 yr come on- de gea is fantastic. as is courtois. I genuinely don't understand how people are unable to seperate that type of player from the likes of butland or pickford (at the moment) or given (in his day). the difference in class is so clearly apparent (to me). remember, begovic, judged against the latter group, is not notably inferior. and then notice the difference in our defence and quality as a team overall when he steps in for courtois.
