Aston Villa vs Chelsea (Sat 7th Feb, 15:00) (PL)

Featured Replies

Guaranteed they won't roll over as they did with Arsenal.  We should still have enough to beat them but can't take this game lightly.  A squeaky victory I think.

Where our title bid first came crashing down last season.

They are not very good, but they were not very good last season either. Jose does not deal well with bogey teams and grounds.

No excuses shouldn't be losing this, they are dreadful this year, bogey side or not this isn't the same as last year, we don't win this it's not just one of them games that's pretty damn poor regardless.

They're f**king toilet this year and just shipped five f**king goals to the Arse.

If we cannot beat this lot, even if we're missing Costa and Fabregas, we do not deserve to win the league.

It's games like these that lost us the title last season, and even more specifically, this fixture was one of them. Hopefully this time we'll have an impartial ref which will be good, but other than that we must win and I think we will. From what we saw today they are a very poor side. They'll be low on morale after letting in 5 goals, and their attacking play is woeful. The only positive I saw was the new fella Gil who is quite decent, but Benteke is very low on confidence at the moment. Give Cuadrado a week to train with his new team-mates then throw him straight in. If we play the same type of game that we did at Swansea we will create a lot of chances and our quality will see us through

As silly as it may sound that should be the mentality right now.

No way we should not be winning this game bogey side or not, they are a absolutely gash, 3 points is a must, I'll have concerns if we don't win this one I really will.

What I was thinking as well. If we cant beat sides like Villa at Villa park then we wont go on to win the league. Jose has to adapt or our title bid will perish, anything other than 3 points from this game is not good enough for a title challenger.

Assuming Cesc is out along with Luis then I would have us line up this way:

Courtios

Brana

Zouma

JT

Azpi

Matic

Oscar

Cuadrado

Willian

Hazard

Remy

If Cesc is back replace Oscar with him. As things stand have Oscar swapping with Willian to try and arrive late like Lamps used to do for us.

With their current form and us having a week's rest, we should be winning this. Having said that, our away form is suspect, we are missing one main scorer and Villa will be looking to make a point in front of home fans after today's pasting. I am fairly confident - pretty much all our games after 7 days have been very good.

city got hull at home so that's a likely win. Villa away should in theory be an easy 3 points given how bad they've been but you know... actually you never know with football

I know negativity is not the done thing on here but I am absolutely dreading this. I've been fearing the worst for weeks about Villa Park because we are f**ked over there time and time again. I remember a great night out in Hong Kong being spoilt by watching a defeat there.

And the fact they haven't scored for ten games is really panicking me. I hate these teams that seem to save it up for us. Didn't it take Newcastle until yesterday to win since beating us like 6 weeks or so back?

Nothing personal with you guys, I admire your confidence but I'd put my house on us having a two point lead this time next week. Us at Villa and City at home to Hull. I keep waiting for this bit when we start having the easier run in that I keep reading so much about.

Kieran Richardson today was no better than what a 12 year old parapelegic would have been, so if Cuadrado plays I expect him to cause some trouble.

I know people won't share my positivity but I can't see anything else but a win. There's no doubt they'll turn up for us, they always do at their place, as do most teams against us. However, I think it will work to our advantage. They haven't scored in ten hours, in front of their own crowd they'll play the ridiculous high pressing game that they played today. They'll throw everything at us so we can hit them very effectively on the counter attack because I don't think they'll cause much trouble to our defence. The only slight problem is Scott Sinclair, who showed his pace when he came on today, which would be difficult for Ivanovic.

There will be times during the game when we'll have a good amount of possession, we have to make it count

We all know they will go from playing absolute toilet to their best game of the season in the space of a week...will join Sunderland, Newcastle etc on that score

Came on to pretty much say this. Jose never won there, they all turn in to Roy of the f**king rovers when they play us at villa park. I'd take a 1-0 right now.

But these are the ones you have to win. City was a decent result. but it instantly becomes a bad one if we don't deal with Villa.

A week to prepare but they will be a totally different proposition from the one Arsenal faced today. Need Cesc to come back and hopefully Cuadrado is fit and provides an attacking that on the right.

Yesterday was a must not lose game, this is a must win.

That bunch usually give us a tough game at home, expect they give us another tough game, However with a week rest, and a few players back (potentially), we should put 3-4 past them if we score in the first 15.

I think some times, teams go into games against us thinking "what have we got to lose?" and it kind of takes the pressure of them. Sometimes that will back-fire and we'll give them an 8-0 drubbing but other times, for whatever reason we struggle.

I don't buy into this theory of teams not trying and turning up against some of our rivals and then raising their game against us. If we don't allow them to play then the result shouldn't be in question. We know how bad Villa are and how man for man we are are better side all over the park, so we cannot afford any f**k ups in this one. Don't want to see us sit back and play a cagey tactical game. 3 points are a must.
