Diego "the guv'nor" Costa

Featured Replies

1) Diego Costa did not intentionally break anyone's leg, so your hypothetical example of an Arsenal player doing the same and it causing you - the moral authority on all things - to stop supporting him is utterly meaningless. I do, however, remember a lot of Arsenal fans commending Welbeck for the two-footed, attempted leg-breaker he tried on Fabregas last season. But I'm sure you tsk-tsk'd it, sadly shaking your head at the television screen, because you are a wonderful and pure human being.

2) Just because you and large sections of your fanbase are immensely fickle in support of your lead striker, doesn't mean we have to be the same with ours. We cheer him on because he gives it all on the pitch. No one's going, "YEAAAAH DIEGO! GENTLY SLAP HIM IN THE FACE MATE!!! DIEGO DIEGO DIEGO!!!" Most of us are, at best, lukewarm / mildly uncomfortable over his other antics, and you'd have known that if you'd actually read most of this thread instead of coming in firing shots with your cute little custom-made waterpistol. One day, after Arsene leaves following another 5 years of not winning the League and embarrassing himself and English football in the Champions League, you'll once again find a striker who isn't terrible and actually gives a sh*t, and you'll get it.

3) Your club tried to buy Luis Suarez. Talk about abandoning your morals.

The purpose of my leg breaking hypothetical was to make the point that their are instances (albeit rare) where fans should not support their own players actions. I think you missed the point completely. I'm far from a moral authority, but the fact that the "moral authority" tag gets thrown around so often by Chelsea fans to opposition fans/teams is certainly interesting.

Giroud is ****. Lol. If that makes me fickle then yes I am. I'm glad you are at least mildly uncomfortable with his antics though. Ironically, I did read some of the thread, and if you on the other hand had done the same, you would see that I said that some of the posts were very sensible.

Agree to a certain extent, would kill for a decent striker tbh. Your choice of the word "embarrassing" though is, again, ironic. Whether you agree with it or not, Costa is effectively dragging your clubs name through the dirt in a way that I've literally never seen before. Not trying to have a go, this is just a fact.

I've never heard someone attack a club over a player they apparently "tried to buy". Seems like a compliment almost.

Typical Arsenal fan, would rather spend time picking fights and whining constantly than watch/focus on own team. Bored of the game mate?

The same crowd who called Diego Costa and Chelsea supporters scumbags are ironically being just that...

....even after winning, the Arse crowd act up like this, ripping threads out of White Harte Lane. I'm not being sympathetic to Spuds, just putting things into perspective, and echoing that I have no time for either lot.

Bore off you f**king nause.

Cheers to those of you who provided insight. I got what I came here for, no reason to post here again. Just take note: Not once did I insult or attack any one of you. Although none of you will ever admit it on this forum, I know that I've stirred a lot of you, and forced you to confront certain aspects of your club, and fan base, that might be uncomfortable for you to confront / accept.

Best of luck lads.

Lol, sorry mate but you need to hop off your high horse of all wisdom and morals, noone is buying it. You put your points into a well constructed sentence and for some reason that makes you believe what your saying is truth. But it's not, you said yourself you know the problems in your team more than we do, well vise-versa champ, so don't bother coming in here talking about how you know our problems more than we do and expect that we should believe the 'confrontations' you say we need to address are even real. Move along.

Haven't read any of your previous posts but this comment was hilarious, truly a disciple of Wenger.

You lot are perfect for each other, enjoy being perennial losers.

United fan wasn't you?

So here's where the issue is, it's the lack of consistency.

The below incident was missed by Mark Clattenberg, on reviewing the incident Clattenberg and the FA felt there was no need for retrospective action.

That's a lot worse than anything Diego did against Arsenal and yet he's given a retrospective 3 match ban.

Ah but you see one of the players mentioned happened to be England's best striker (at the time) and the other is the super villain of the game, as described by all and sundry and he is a foreigner to boot that plays for dastardly chelsea...quite understandable why they were treated so differently

Presumably arsenal fans will be let off and Tottenham will face a retrospective charge for not screwing in their hoardings well enough

Nope pretty happy 2-0, 13-0 but keep on trying to take some moral high ground you dumb c**t. This coming from the fans who chant f**k off to Jose every five minutes, pure class or the fans who boo every former player like a crazy ex girlfriend. Maybe you should confront the fact your fans are a bunch of whiny c**ts just like your voyuer loving manager or the fact you haven't been relevant in the league title race for over a decade.

I'll reply to this since from what I skimmed, all the other replies weren't worth much.

You talk about "the abuse Costa recieves from defenders"? Lol. What do you honestly expect when the player literally goes out week after week with the intention of abusing opposition players. This is a fact, can't dispute it no matter how biased you may or may not be. Just ask your own Kurt Zouma. So you basically expect Costa to be able to abuse everyone else without consequence? Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You described attacking fans for supporting their players as "laughable". So you're basically, no, literally, saying no matter what a players antics are like on the field, you as a fan must support him at all times. Look, if an Arsenal player goes and obviously intentionally breaks opposition's legs, I'm not going to support him, Arsenal player or not. Being a football fan doesn't mean you have to completely abandon your morals. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

According to the rules of the game, Gabriel deserved his red, no question about it. His ban should have stood.

The "niggles" you talk about will always be a part of the game; with what's at stake it's almost human nature to look for any advantage you can possibly get, even unfair ones at times. However, Costa takes to a whole different level. Abusing other players is a huge part of his game. Stomping on Skrytel while he was lying on the ground. Spitting in his hand then throwing it in Sergio Ramos' face, multiple times in one game. Sneakily headbutting players as he walks past them. Clawing Gabriel's neck to the point of leaving very visible marks. Shocking behavior, and it's consistent. You have to draw a line and some point, otherwise the game falls into chaos.

He's basically a bully/b**ch on the field. He bullies other players and then b**ches to the ref when they react. No one wants to see that, in real life, or on the pitch.

Arsenal have a poor disciplinary record, can't argue with facts. Many Arsenal fans, myself included would make the point that we get more than our fair share of unfair decisions/ sending off's (like this weekend) but I'm not going to bother with that argument because I know no matter how convincingly presented, a Chelsea forum is just not the place for it.

You call Diego a bitch on a chelsea forum and that's not an insult? Or how about this line, , Costa is nothing more than a dirty, cheating, wind up merchant. Seriously you should take your advice and f**k off!

Edited by IndianaBlue85

ARSENAL FAN HERE. Some of you lot are really something else. FA bias against Chelsea eh? L.M.A.O. I suppose Mike Dean never got the memo then. Open your eyes ffs, Costa is nothing more than a dirty, cheating, wind up merchant. Literally everyone (including your own player Zouma, bless him) but Chelsea fans sees this clear as day.

Fair play to the few of you who admitted that Costa is dirty. The rest of you....lol. I guess his antics towards Koscielny (two handed slap to the face, one handed swipe to the face, chest pump) were somehow completely legal in your world. Those wimps over at Arsenal eh.

Oh and all the match goers, please keep chanting Diego Diego Diego everytime Costa stamps on someone shins, spits on them, slaps them in the face, headbutts them, scratches them like a rabid feline etc. etc. like you've been doing. It helps the football world identify what type of people are supporting your club. This isn't directed to all of you, saw some very reasonable posts here.

And again you start off with your condescending tone and insult Chelsea fans yet you claim you haven't insulted anyone on here? You really are a c**t

Yip, definite word salad ^^^

The issue with Diego is that since day one his card has been marked. He looks like a bad guy from a western, and he plays on the edge of the rules. Personally I have no problem with his antics. I think he has a winners mentality and that why even when he's not getting goals he's in the team.

However lets be honest, he  is never going to get a fair break from ref's. He is able to coax opposition to breaking the rules but they rarely get punished because its diego. If he had a face like Agureo I'm sure he might get more. So where does it leave us. Is keeping him with the reputation and constant scrunity worth it? This isn't the first and it won't be the last 3 game ban.

I don't blame Costa, but the reality is the reallity and it does affect us

Really interesting Barak. One could say the Diego and Eva situations are both influenced by aesthetics.

The club imho needs a pr exercise to alter public perception of Diego, he's a great guy by all accounts.
