Chelsea in for Falcao?

Featured Replies

Could it be that the third party owners are due some money if he's sold on though?

Could be. But if that Telegraph is saying its complicated due to the ownership, then wouldnt that only be an issue if we are buying him outright?

All this talk of no-one wanting to come and be backup to Costa.. you know we don't HAVE to play with 1 striker. Barcelona play with all 3 and it seems to work well for them..

I rather buy Lacazette for £25mil-£30mil + wages, then pay Falcao £10mil+ in Wages and loan fee for a year. I believe Lacazette would work far better alongside Costa and unlike Falcao he can also play well as a wide forward. Lacazette also has a good resell value, if things don't work out.

Only Suarez is a true no.9 though, Neymar and Messi are both AM's. I know Messi played ridiculously well as a 'false 9' but he's not a natural centre forward.

The problem with playing with two up front is that Mourinho will only do so with a diamond in midfield. Currently we don't have good enough options in CM to play that system, Ramires and Mikel just aren't good enough to start consistently for us and RLC is an unknown at this point. And 2 up front also means Hazard plays the number 10 role, meaning Willian and Oscar quite possibly are relegated to the bench.

Looking like Lacazette will go to psg for closer to 40m than 25m. He would have been my prefered option aswell. Not too many options left now, with dybala, and icardi also off the table. It looks like a choice between falcao, benteke, higuain, or bamford.

Jackson martinez would have been a decent option but he looks arsenal bound.

Thought I heard higuain was arsenal bound too.

Pickings sure are slim this year. If we went for Benteke it may turn out like it did for lukaku, another young player unhappy with his playing time.

Supposedly Falcao is one of 5 strikers being looked at. As usual either that's true. or Jose is trying to shift Falcao into signing, which I dont think will take too much encouraging given his recent interviews.

If it's true, then my guess of the 5 would be Falcao, Benteke, Griezmann (seeing as Mourinho considers him a striker), Higuain, Jackson Martinez.   Probably in that order too

Knowing Jose likes his players a little more... Mature... I reckons it's more likely to be:

Ibrahimovic

Luca Toni

Resigning Samuel Eto'o

Teddy Sheringham

Pele

Loads of clubs being linked with Remy so could it be that he goes, we sign one of the 5 mentioned above and recall Bamford?

Bamford meanwhile has had a £10mil price tag slapped on him to ward off interest from Newcastle

Think Bamford will get a PL loan first. Remy i hope stays, be interested to know what sort of fee we'd ask for him. Paid between 10-12 and he's done pretty well.

Get King Kerry back!

Martinez would be a fantastic signing.

Look at their front line though. Neymar is uber talented and has scored something like 40 goals this past season, suarez is suarez and showed what he's capable of at Liverpool, and messi is messi, he wins games on his own. You can't compare that front 3 to any front 3 we could muster up tbh.

‘If I can help Falcao reach his level again, I will do it,’ Mourinho was claimed to have said on DirecTV Sports on Wednesday. 'It hurts me that people in England think that the real Falcao is the one we saw at Manchester United.’

If Jose thinks he can get him back to where he was then I'm ready to trust him. I don't think that Van Gaal managed to get anywhere close to the best out of a number of players and if this comes out, then we have an absolutely brilliant option up top.

After failing to restore sheva to his past glories, then failing with torres as well, I wonder why we believe things will be different with Falcao

Yup.

If it fails we will look like mugs.

Our own fault though, he's been crap for 16 months so you would think that tells it's own story.

The problem is he said exactly the same thing about Torres.

Yup.

Also brought in duds like Salah and Cuadrado so it's not like he hasn't made costly mistakes in the market since he came back.

This is destined to be another of them, hopefully Costa doesn't get bad injuries, will be dangerous to be relying on a past it Falcao.

Not exactly the same, but close. Although he was trying to sign Rooney at the same time, then settled for Eto'o so I'm not sure if he believed it.

Jose certainly isn't faultless but I'm genuinely excited/interested to see what Falcao could do in our setup. I think it's impossible to judge him on his time at United alone because so many players underperformed in Van Gaal's system.

I'd similarly be interested in Di Maria because I don't think one season in a struggling team makes him a bad player either.

Di maria still hit 11 league assists though, Falcao was just horrible.

He did have but how many of those came from set-pieces? Not to denigrate the ability to put in a good ball but there were many games in which Di Maria (and other good players) looked completely ineffectual.

Before he made the move he was seemingly back in for with 2 goals in 3 games after his injury and 9 in 16 upon moving to Monaco, with his record at Atletico speaking for itself.

And yet Di Maria looked excellent in the world cup until injured.

People forget that Jose brought in many average players in his previous spell. For every drogba there was an offsetting del horno.

Yup.

::clap2:: spot on, Falcao has everything against him, coming off a bad injury, having played for a large period looking a shadow of the player, his age etc it's Sheva all over again.
