Spanish media outlets reporting it. I follow that @ChelsTransfer guy on twitter, he just retweets from sources over the net. Basically 50/50 some rubbish some decent, just rumours at the moment and it could be nothing.

That Chelstransfer on twitter is a good account, I enjoy following him, saves us the job of finding news.

 

Metro I wouldnt believe if they told me night followed day, I think Marca and AS are the only ones saying it is imminent.  Soon as RMC in France, L'equipe etc report it too, then I will take it without a pinch of salt

Standard say its happening...... there are continual ripples about this from various sources...I am leaning towards it SLIGHTLY possibly having some legs in it... although Marca did report it and they were the mugs who came out with the Costa being unhappy BS.

Falcao was playing possum last season, driving his transfer fee down intentionally......... Just kidding.... This is more confusing than balotelli for 16 mill if it happens.

I mean he's no spring chicken at 29 and will have no sell on value you would think.

I see this only going one way if it does go through and it goes along the same lines as a guy named Fernando.

60/40 against for me.

 

60% bad idea, pretty much a gamble, esp IF hes looking at high wages and wants starts etc. lets not forget he has been way off since he left madrid and clearly goes wherever his agent can get a fat payoff plus at his peak he chose to go to frikin monaco, which was a joke.

 

40% good idea IF he comes for £15-20M odd and accepts a similar wage as say Remy, Making it far less of a gamble/loss if hes worse than torres etc.

 

still far better targets for same/less wage tbh

I think it's simply a result of it not being a 'blockbuster signing', and it doesn't need to be. We have a fantastic number one striker and I personally think Remy is a brilliant number two. Essentially we're talking about another back-up striker who isn't being bought for the future and is simply Drogba's replacement. 

 

My question would be whether we need anything more when we have Bamford, Solanke and Abraham coming through.

 

The cost is still an issue for me, but we do have a lot of money available to us to spend and fewer gaps in the first-team than we've had in maybe a decade.

 

No-one should be too excited because it's the definition of a 'wait and see' signing. He doesn't change the team we pick on day one of the league but come January, we may well have a Falcao who is 75% of the player he was just 18 months ago. Or we dont.... 

Just think a few years ago we would have been going mental about this signing.. How times have changed! Looks as though it's definatly happening now.. Can't say I'm best pleased especially with the numbers being mentioned but heres hoping he proves many of us wrong if he does join.

I remember I wanted us to sign Benny McCarthy, David Bentley and Cavani. Now I look back and think what? (Yes even Cavani). I also remember wanting Mark Hughes as manager at one point haha.

No striker could have performed well in the system for us, I have a fear that he's going to bang them in once he's in a team that doesn't have Fellaini as the central creative source...

You bet Utd weren't offered the same deal & declined signing him after having for a whole season. Continues a trend of bizarre signings we have made in recent seasons; buying a backup fullback for £20m, signing Cuadrado on the back of a decent World Cup showing and has Mendes written all over it.
