Retain the PL or win the CL, which would you rather?

Premier League for me.

But the champions league is very prestigious and can attracts many star players to a club. Even that's the reason hazard came to our club in the first place and I'm afraid we're gonna lose him in 1-2 years if we keep failing in CL. Maybe we should focus to PL and try as far as we can in CL for next season, then focus to CL for the season after.

Next year it's a no brainer for me - retain the league.

But if it come a time that we has dominated in the league to the point of winning 4 out of the next 5...I'd get itchy fingers for the CL again.

Part of me has wondered whether Jose has failed in the CL with us given that he's never taken us to a final in 5 seasons. Given his record of getting to Semi's, you would think he would have got us to one final.

I'm not going to be too harsh on him as it is abit of luck but our record is slightly disappointing with him.

I couldn't give a flying f**k about the corrupt European League by stealth Non Champions can win it league ................and would not bother me at all if we never played in it again .

Any competition that stops fans buying seats to accommodate bigger advertising hoardings can do one . Then you take money from a major brewery but deny fans the right to have beer at the ground ...............

Premier League and FA Cup for me all day long

have to agree about the lack of beer on champions league nights. Im convinced that this is partly the reason for the sh*te atmosphere at the bridge on european nights!

f**king joke, i personally avoid the champs league games. league games though? always.

I'd never thought of that.  Now I'm convinced PL it is but I want a domestic treble!

The champions league is the hardest one to win, i would never give up the league for it because even if you do that you aren't guaranteed to win the Champions League. I think we should just set out to win both.

The league, because it's the ultimate test of a team and winning it marks you out as the best. Retaining it is even harder, which is why so few teams have managed it in 100 years. Don't get me wrong, winning the CL was fantastic but now we've done it the league takes priority again.

If I could choose for a guaranteed trophy I'd have the CL. But really winning the CL requires a bit of luck and favourable fixtures/conditions, the best team doesn't always win it and even Barca's greatest team ever didn't win every year and a few of their wins they progressed controversially.

The league is over 38 games so if we don't retain it either we are really unlucky through injuries etc. or have become second best next season.

As it is for me at the start of every season, get enough points to make sure we don't get relegated, and then see what happens after that.

The league every year until we beat Liverpool's record for titles won, then CL each year until we beat their record for that & then turn around when they start singing about their history & tell them to shove it up their arse!!

See no reason we can't do both, with better rotation and a top signing ( say Bale?). However we really need to prioritise the domestic cup competitions, not saying we should play the under 17, but we can't be playing full strength team for 2 semis and the final like we did this season.

Considering how sht the rest of the PL teams are, not defending the title next season would be a failure

I dont see a team that can pose a serious challenge, bar Arsenal, and theyre . . . well . . . Arsenal.

Winning the CL will be a much bigger challenge.

Depends on who would win the league if we weren't to.

Unless it's someone like Bournemouth winning the league i'd rather us win the league and f**k the CL. Would hate for any of the Arse/United/Liverpool or even City now with their mouthy squad and coach to win it back off us.

When I first read this thread I thought "hmm, don't really know, would like both if possible I guess".  But a few days on and watching and realising the coverage of the PL I've come down to wanting that more.  Shallow maybe, but the reminder every MOTD in the credits that we are the champions and the casual references to "current champions", "retain their title" etc. etc. just means such a lot.  And as we've got the CL we can afford not to covet it so much.

Now watch MOTD change their titles etc to show nothing of us lifting the prize.

On reflection I have to admit, ever since we captured our holy grail in 2012 I haven't fel the desperation to win it since. Of course I want us to and I really really want JT to lift it having played in the final but if next season were to be like this one I certainly wouldn't cry. There's just something about winning the Premier League that took everything else.
