Following Our Nearest & Dearest Rivals, 2015/2016

United don't really have any choice though. They have so many injuries. If Martial and Rooney were fit, this guy wouldn't be playing today.

Same scenario & we would have gone false 9 with one of our AMs. LVG made the choice to trim the fat over the summer & work with their youngsters. You are right though, injuries played a part.

Welbeck back to haunt United there. Shame United could not hold out till the break.

Too early to gloat guys and gals, United are terrible at the back so this is far from over.

LvG has been forced to play youth though. He isn't doing it to give them a chance. If the older players weren't injured, then these youngsters wouldn't get as many chances as they are getting.

He may not have intended to use the kids as regularly as this but they would have definitely featured in his thinking when he trimmed the size of the squad going into the season.

We say that but they've only conceded 6 goals at home this season in the league, so it'll be difficult for Arsenal

Even if this is true, it's not exactly been good for United, they are 6th. It's looking like they will end the season worse off than last. So even if he wanted to use the youngsters often, it's not exactly paid off for him.

Could pay off for them further down the line though, which is the whole point of playing youth. Thomas Muller is just one of the players he introduced to the Munich team at a time it was rumored Muller was leaving. You have to give youth a chance at some point whether that be in place of 1st team players or when they're injured, unfortunately we do neither.

Injures have forced his hand to an extent, but I still think he's done it far more than we ever have done.

The only time I have seen where LvG has choosen a ''youngster'' ahead of a so called senior player this season was Lingard (23) ahead of Depay (21),

look at Man U's bench there are no senior players there the only player of note is Januzaj and he is what 21 and has played something like 1 game all season after failing to get a look in at Dortmund.

We are very very unlikely to ever be in a similar situation for multiple reasons

a) we have a competent medical team

b) we don't have a stupid training regime that causes injuries

Man U went into the season with a senior squad that was actually bigger than ours but have been absolutely decimated by injuries and have been given no choice other than to do this, so to say we wouldn't is hard to agree with as it is hard to see any other options they could have taken,

Yes they did get rid of a lot of the older 'deadwood' in the squad to maybe give the young players more exposure to the first team which could be applauded. But there squad was still larger than ours (they did leave themselves short a striker), and it was only injuries which has cause LVG to play youth,

e.g:

Fellani playing Striker .

Young playing both RB and LB.

It is the youth that are taking their chance like Rushford that should be praised and not LvG.

United must have the most injury prone players in the world.

I know, it's stupid. Got a team of sturridges

We aren't overly got at it but we have on occasions chosen youth,

Traore getting ahead of Remy,

Zouma getting ahead of both Cahill and Terry

Courtois getting in ahead of Cech

RLC ahead of Ramires

We could do with doing more of it but we have shown that we can do it as a club and seem to we seem to be slowly learning how to effectively and if we manage to get Europa League next season they should get a lot more exposure.
