May 19, 201610 yr There's a difference between contingency planning and actually putting the notices up, imo. Or paying thousands for graphics on a bus. They could at the very least say there are plans in place in the event of them winning the cup. Nonono, this is much more entertaining for us! Edited May 19, 201610 yr by Valerie
May 19, 201610 yr The league reform proposal 'headlines' seem sensible. I can't fault them tbh (though I need to read the full proposals). It's good to see some common sense being applied to the future of the game. A precursor to the introduction of B teams perhaps, I can appreciate the argument against but it's something I hope happens personally. Edited May 19, 201610 yr by the special one
May 19, 201610 yr I actually preferred the fa cup when it was played out to a finish even if it meant a 2nd, 3rd or 4th replay. Me too, except the old bill killed it by making the replays at least a week later than the original match.
May 19, 201610 yr Klopp is the new Phil Brown. The next couple of years could be great fun. Can't wait for Klopp to start spray tanning and singing us all Karaoke

Not me, it'll ruin Non-League football of which I'm a big fan of. It looks like they're trying to re-introduce this B-Team/Best of the Conference League 3 mooted a few years ago.
May 19, 201610 yr Can't see the harm in keeping the Community Shield (though I'd rather it was still the Charity Shield). One game a week before the season begins hardly adds to fixture congestion.
May 20, 201610 yr I don't really see how a winter break can be included into the schedule of English football to be honest. The only way they can do it is if they cut the amount of teams playing in the league's to 18, or remove the League Cup. Getting rid of F.A cup replays won't do much to help with fixture congestion either, 99% of teams don't even play in any replays. I see no reason to get rid of the Community Shield either, it's a good opener to the season. These changes they have planned seem to be just there for sake of making changes. I don't see how any of these idea's can be seen as improvements to be honest.
May 20, 201610 yr All they have to do is give them the actual Chrismas days off. They can also go back to playing Friday and Monday at Easter. Thing is there are loads of midweek with no football in the early part of the season so they can always slot more games into there. Another idea is make the league end a week later than it currently does. I think winter break would be really beneficial.
May 20, 201610 yr Loss of income for yellow ball manufacturers Also player recovery time I guess? Edited May 20, 201610 yr by Stim
May 20, 201610 yr So Ginola had to be admitted to hospital yesterday because (in his own words) he was silly enough to play football in hot conditions. World Cup 2022 in Qatar? It needs to be cancelled.
May 20, 201610 yr For an ageing old fart like myself, the footy is a massive part of Christmas/New Year. What is the point of Boxing day if not for the footy ? Just scrap Christmas, or even the Winter, but leave the Christmas footy alone. Think about it, stuck indoors for a week, f**k all on telly, and no foot for a week. Makes me come over with a cold shiver. All the other changes I have no objections to.
May 20, 201610 yr Jose said the one thing he loved about English football was the festive fixtures. Take that away and you take away a big part of what makes this league special IMO.
May 20, 201610 yr What will this extra league actually change? I'm confused. We have a finite number of teams in England, they are all alreayd in leagues, is this just like essentially promoting the Conference to be a part of the football league? I don't get it.
May 20, 201610 yr See as a fan of Christmas itself is rather not have football on during that period because I like to celebrate the occasion and if footballs on its just way to distracting for me. I think winter break benefits players keeping fresh aswell.

I don't get it.Well all the leagues trim down to teams of 20 so it means less fixtures during the season. So therefore teams have less congestation.Although after discussing it with my mate this morning he said they should just scrap the number of pointless international friendlies and I think he has a point there. May 20, 201610 yr How long would a winter break be? Isn't it a fortnight in Spain? I personally think 10 days would be enough

May 20, 201610 yr One downside for clubs in 20-team leagues compared to the present will be less games, which will equal less revenue.
