Very good-  he couldn't do an awful lot about City's goals, and without him it could easily have been 5 or 6. Probably the one positive of the first 2 games; we know Tibo has some real competition which should hopefully mean no complacency on his part.

He's all class, without him there wouldn't even be a  game for us. I don't have a problem if he plays again this weekend.

At this rate I wonder if Jose will let him stay on for a while once Tibo comes back.

I disagree. I think Tibo will walk straight back into the team. He shouldn't but He will.

Begovic was excellent yesterday especially early on but Tibo has to come back in. He's our number 1 and they both know that but it's good to know we have an excellent back up when needed.

It almost seems like people are surprised, Begovic has always been a quality goalkeeper. Said it before but i honestly don't think there is much between him and Cech.

I m sorry for Asmir , hes bean great yet all people will remeber that Chelsea go a lot of goals. Really I don t see how iboa would save us from 5 7 open chances every game.

Ha, I was wondering whether new players like him and Pedro were regretting signing for Chelsea! Probably not when they look at their paycheck, but presumably they had dreamed about being part of a team seriously contesting for silverware :-)

Willian gets all the limelight right now, but I think Begovic deserves a mention as well because he has proven to be a very good replacement for Courtois! Massive efforts from him yesterday when they could have equalised and potentially unsettled us.

Asmir has an opportunity to make himself a Chelsea legend this morning. He is on goals on Sunday this morning with dean Saunders. Go on Asmir, smash his weasly little prick face in.

Guus seems to be of an age when many people become very resistant to change. Even the slightest changes make them uncomfortable. He wasn't always this way. I don't like to subscribe to sterotypes about age, but this one does seem to apply here.

I've seen it with my parents who are the same age as Guus. My mom even got uncomfortable when I made her tea in a mug she's not used to drinking out of that had a different style handle.

I think Arsène and van Gaal are exhibiting it too. They were always change resistant, but it seems to have gotten magnified with age. Imagine what Jose will be like at that age

Competition is great but when so many players are injured or out-of-form sometimes you need as much stability as possible.

 

There seems to be this feeling (not necessarily you) that because Courtois has had poor moments that Begovic has become better. He hasn't. He's a decent keeper but if we have aspirations to be a top club we're not going to go with him as number one. The guy ended his career at Stoke probably behind Jack Butland. There's a reason for that and there's reasons that Courtois is so highly-regarded throughout Europe.

 

I'm amazed at the level of debate on the goalkeeping position to be quite honest.

Seems he is the subject of a £10 million offer from Bournemouth, the offer is reported to have been turned down but seems that £12 million will seal the deal. 

So who's been lined up as a replacement if the story is correct

If Begovic does go we need to bring in a Homegrown GK and one thats willing to sit on the bench.

Pickford for Sunderland would be ideal but he'll want 1st team football so the options to replace him, especially in January look a bit short.

Unless Asmir wants out, I cant see us selling him in January, maybe in the summer though.

Would adding Ake to the squad not remove the need for another home grown player, also would we not trust Eduardo as back up for the remainder of the season  

I hope we don't sell until the Summer, bit too risky to rely on 1 GK ( no disrespect to the 3rd choice GK) when we are chasing the title.

If Courtois gets injured, I'd hate to have Eduardo as the keeper to try and keep us in a league challenge, as I know nothing about him. I can understand Begovic wanting games, but unless we have a replacement lined up this window, he can't go until the summer.
