Think he will be a good signing for them.

Offers more than Mikel for me. Lack of mobility holds him back. AVB certainly saw something.

Before his injury I thought he was really coming into his own and looked a bright prospect. hope we introduce a buy back clause, just to cover ourselves in the event that he becomes a revelation.

I concede it's unlikely he will be a world beater but I do think he looked a prospect. wonder what the fee will be

Just no. Another pretender to the throne.

Think he will be a good signing for them.

Before his injury he was great and definitely an upgrade on Mikel, not so much anymore though.

more millions in the Chelsea bank account

maybe they will spend some of them before the window closes

Can't help but feel this is fantastic business for Southampton.

Hopefully we chucked in a right of first refusal clause in with the deal.  We all know how late developing these defensive midfielders can be - and with his injuries his development could have just been naturally delayed.  When we was playing for us before the injury I was pretty impressed by him.

Either way - can't see the Saints losing on this one.  They're a heck of a shrewd club in the transfer market.

What a shame. I think he had a great career ahead of him if the injuries didn't happen. I wish him all the best and he ended up at a great club.

that does seem a low valuation.  Shame as he was a player (and again M Van Ginkel) that I had high hopes for

On the face of it, £5M seems like a good piece of business for Southampton. With that said, I haven't watched Romeu play for a long time, so I have no idea what level he's at right now. And we were under no pressure to sell with three years left on his contract. So perhaps it's a fair valuation.

Just like Bertrand, Southampton might have got themselves a very good player. He fits right in with Koeman's solid defensive unit, not sure about Romeu's mobility in attacking but atleast he can pass -- might have a chance with the first team right away now that Schneiderlin is gone. Hopefully he finds success with the saints, good luck to him.

Fair play to Southampton, it's a shame that circumstances conspired against him here but hopefully he'll do well at his new club. He should be a very solid PL player at the very least.

The best thing you could really say about him during his Chelsea career was that he wasn't Mikel. Other than that, very average player. Can't say I'm worried about losing him.

Bit of rose tinted glasses going on I fear. He had one excellent game, then some average ones, then a few terrible ones. Shame it never worked out because on paper he had all the attributes but didn't shine while out on loan either seemingly, though that could be down to injuries. Good luck to him though, hes going to a club where he should get a good chance.

I think we did well to get £5m. We must be about £25m in profit at the moment.

Then you add in the TV deals and shirt sponsorships.

We are sitting on a hefty amount.
