That would seem like an odd signing to me. Burnley already have two well-established left-backs in Stephen Ward and Ben Mee (although I always felt like the latter would eventually become a centre-back), as well as having Matt Lowton who can play there. I also don't think Rahman would particularly suit Burnley's style of play in the Premier League; maybe they're aiming to recreate the Trippier effect they had the season before last?

 

I'd be surprised if this one went through. I certainly wouldn't despair quite so much until we have a little more evidence to go on.

Unlike the ake loan I an confortable with this.

He's potentially a great wingback but he is still extremely raw. I don't want us to discard him after just one year and realistically I don't see him being a first choice for us.

Mate, he's 22 in July, when bale was 22 he had 10 league goals and 14 assists playing as a winger. Just because Bale was a left back when he was 19 does not mean that every young left back is going to go on and become a world class attacker. Baba will never be near Bale's level, quote me on this, and in 5-10 years if he's lifting the Ballon D'or or something like that, i'll send you a video of me eating my football boots.

I never meant he necessarily might be better than Bale. Patrick Van aanholt isn't better than Ashley Cole but watching him last season made me regret him leaving because I would have taken him over Baba!

Van Aanholt, Bertrand and Felipe Luis have all looked pretty decent this season...

The £28m might be including wages. According to Wiki the fee was £14m, potentially rising to £22m.

Surely we can't be sending out a £22m player on loan to Burnley. That is shocking.

Under the right manager, I think he will do well. Conte could be that man, especially in a 352.

The 3-5-2 is likely a system he would do very well in as a fullback, hes probably the only player on our team this can be said for the chances of us inplementing it are slim

Jonas Hector is another player we should consider, 26 year old attacking left back with good defensive stats.

In all seriousness he was dreadful every time I watched him, yes its absurd that we spent such a large sum of money on a player to be loaned out to a side like Burnley, but you're forgetting that essentially what we do these days is overpay for average players then send them away on loan. See: Cuadrado, Salah, Marin, Moses, Djilobodji, Hector.

wouldn't mind us signing that left back from Napoli, Ghoulam or something. Seen him a few times and he's looked good. If not Jordan Amavi from Villa would be a great signing. 

I think he could do well in a 3-5-2 as a wing back, it kind of releases the shackles on him defensively a bit as the LCB would take more of that and it would give him the ability to bomb forward which I think he looks good doing, his crossing is the one thing that's impressed me the most with him.

I'd like him to stay with us, especially with the £28m we paid for him and then sending him out on loan to me is ludicrous.

I would say that the LB is a troublesome one. Players like Rodirguez or Ghoulam are probably no go. If we were to buy I say Lucas Digne (Roma), Adam Masina (Bologna), Luca Antonelli (Milan), Djibril Sidibe (Lille), Benjamin Mendy (Marseille). Personally think Djibril Sidibe would be a superb signing, but well... I thought Baba would turn out much better than he did. That said Sidibe is superior defensively.

 

BTW: Why is no one trying to pick up Christian Fuchs from Leicester?

Fuchs is 30, well-established at Leicester, and has at least one more season of Champions' League football ahead of him.

 

Also he doesn't seem particularly keen; apparently he wants to go to the USA, which is where his family lives (according to Wiki):

 

"My intention is to play in the US. I have come [to Leicester] for three years. I decided that I would sign one last contract in Europe when I left Schalke, then go to the US."
