September 16, 20169 yr i agree that gueye is an amazing player but saying he's better than kante is blasphemous back on topic, another good game from baba, i always rate the guy, class offensively but dodgy as heck defensively i hope he can really improve in schalke, he's still 22 after all
September 16, 20169 yr So far this season he is better. Not only is he a phenom defensively, but also contributes attackingwise. Chelsea would have been better with Gueye. There is a reason he was higher rated than Kante in France and Kante was actually Leicester second choice after missing out on Gueye (fact). Both players BTW were Steve Walsh signings. Walsh wanted Gueye, but settled for Kante.

Chelsea would have been better with Gueye. But Kante isn't being asked to play an attacking role, he's the link between defence and midfield, screening the back four and moving the ball on quickly to out attacking players. And that's exactly the type of player we needed after teams consistently played their way through the middle of our team time after time last season. Gueye's attacking ability is of little relevance to us because we already have (had) a lot of players to fulfil that role for us.
September 16, 20169 yr But Gueye does Kante's job... and initiates attacks. He does all that Kante can and more (last season Gueye's stats were almost identical to Kante's, but he played at Aston Villa). Early in the season but: Gueye: 90,9% pass success rate, 1 assist, 6 key passes, 6 dribbles, 22 tackles, 6 interceptions, 6 headers won, 4 fouls, 7,76 Whoscored rating Kante: 94,5% pass success rate, 0 assists, 2 key passes, 3 dribbles, 13 tackles, 7 interceptions, 1 header won, 8 fouls, 6,94 Whoscored rating So basically Kante passes a bit better, but Gueye passes forward more, while Kante just recycles possession. Over and out. Edited September 16, 20169 yr by Jon Stakes

Overall still mostly had a good season with Sunderland. Overall Sunderland fans are happy. d) Gueye is easily better than Kante. At least this season. Everton will be a threat for a CL slot. Utter bullsh*t. Yes he was to blame, he lost his man...again....as he always does...and did later that match...again....as he always does...etc...

September 16, 20169 yr You'd expect Gueye's attacking stats to be better than Kanté's; Kanté typically has five players in front of him, Gueye typically has four.

Don't be ridiculous. It wasn't his man in that play. Lukaku was on the right side, Djilobodji is a left sided CB. The man who lost him was Lamine Kone. That said Lukaku did get the better of Djilobodji on 3-4 other occasions and was entirely at fault on the last goal. Still given the onslaught Sunderland underwent from Everton Djiobodji saved Sunderland on several other occasions. You guys wanted me to stop writing about Djilobodji, so I did. So I kept silent after a MOTM performance vs Southampton... I can write about him, but make up your minds. Edited September 16, 20169 yr by Jon Stakes
September 16, 20169 yr Of course it was his man, he had let him go literally 2 minutes before and Lukaku nearly scored, then Lukaku is completely free for a header. He then ran off djillibobidybob again to score. He was a shambles on the night. As for gueye being easily better, that just once again highlights how ridiculous and embarrassingly one eyed you are when it comes to African players. Edited September 16, 20169 yr by dkw

November 28, 20169 yr So, how is he doing in Schalke? I saw he getting minutes there, had started few games and by the rumours he's doing a good job. With our current system, I think he can suit to us, Conte gave Matic the confidence he needs and now he's back to his best, same as Hazard and Pedro. He can fight for his spot next season and maybe Conte can get the best of him. Let's not forget his only 22 and he's talented, more confidence and more trust in him we can win a good LWB here. I agree, he failed to impress at his first season, but one more chance has to be given.
November 28, 20169 yr It was after that one pre season game. I don't think he will get a look in now he showed glimpses of his ability last season but that was it.
November 28, 20169 yr Anyone know how he is getting on? Surely he would do quite well in the LWB position. Especially with the crosses of his
November 29, 20169 yr Had we knew about this 343 earlier, could have kept either him or Kennedy as a backup. He sucks at defending, on the offensive side I don't think he's worse off than Alonso.

November 29, 20169 yr Maybe next season he will fit on Conte's system and we will say he is the new Moses. However i doubt this will happen and we will seek cover for Moses and Alonso.
November 29, 20169 yr He was a lot more prone to defensive mistakes and poor positioning than Alonso. Personally I think Alonso is a much better player. I wouldn't say 'a lot' as Alonso is not a great defender either. But yes Alonso he has the experience, stamina, and positional sense which makes him well-rounded and flexible, useful when we switch to a back four during certain transitions.

The main thing that lets Alonso down is a lack of any real pace, if a player knocks it around him he isn't able to recover that quickly. But in terms of tackling, aerial ability and positioning I rate him a lot higher than Baba who looked out of his depth when playing for us. I don't think Alonso is a great player but he's been doing a solid job there and looks to have bought some nice balance to the team since he came in.
