Baba Rahman - The heir to Ash?

I take your point, I would assume that when assessing Rahman, Conte would have taken him into consideration for a LWB role. For me personally I would prefer Sandro (Juve). Under Mourinho (first spell) we had 2 quality players for almost every position, we were so strong domestically and in the CL. I would like to have that again.

Sandro comparision with Baba is well... No pointers there. :)

Only issue I have is Alonso has been great and deserves a starting spot. I totally understand people wanting to improve with someone like Sandro, I just feel, a player's good performance and continously improving performances need to be awarded. Relegating him to the bench would be so harsh and unfair.

Anyways, IF we dont buy an upgrade on Alonso, THEN, i would want Baba to be given the back up LWB role as I honestly feel he can do a good job.

Yes I agree it would be unfair, but sentiments aside, we know football is ruthless when you are striving for the top. Could be a similar situation to Wayne Bridge and Ashley Cole. Wayne Bridge a good left back, but when Ashley came on the scene..............and we never looked back.

I think a lot has changed. Mainly in relation to the way we play.

Baba definitely is a better defender than moses has, has good pace, a good cross.

He is far more suited to a back 5/LWB role than to a LB/flat back 4.

A better defender? Comparing to Moses's defending isn't exactly a high benchmark

And yet using moses' defending as a wing back, we walked the league. So as a back up lwb, he has more than enough quality for us

I`m if not 100%, then 99,99% sure Baba will be go loan again or will be sold. Don`t know why people here think he will stay in the club and talk about his future and even compare him to Alonso/Moses. He is far from there and soon will be far from the club.

And Moses before the injuries was 1 of the best player in the squad. He not only attacked well, but also defending really well. On 1 on 1 he is superb and you can very rarely see someone cross from his zone, forget to beat him 1 on 1.

In this case, Moses is a much better wing back than Baba Rahman.  There is no need for a back up, what is needed is competition.

Still think he should be given a chance as our other LWB, rather than splash out another 40-50m on someone else and probably loan this guy out again.

Agree. If we are not getting Sandro (who is World class), then no need to buy the flavour of the month. He should be a capable replacements.

I think this was Conte's plan before the injury, to give him another chance.

Actually think he would be good in a LWB role - quick and good offensively.

Disagree, i swear these days every full back with pace who's sh*t defensively is assumed as a potential top class wingback when it just isn't the case. Baba would be even worse as a wingback than he was as a fullback.

Yeah he actually would be an ideal back up to Alonso. We've signed him for a reason, he had a great season before we brought him so he has it in him.

Let Conte do what he wants with this guy, if he can turn Moses into a class wingback then he certainly can sort out Baba.

Conte obviously doesn't rate him or think he's useful this season. We wouldn't be chasing Sandro if he did.

Or he just isn't sure how well he will come back from the injury.

Looks like it. Not sure when he is fit but looks to me like Kenedy stays to cover Alonso and then when Baba is fit Conte picks one and the other heads out on loan in Jan.
