I think Alonso has eclipsed Moses in the more recent matches. Not saying anything against Moses BTW

Alonso's done well but we should not hesitate to evolve if a better LWB comes along, not only will we get better we will have a top squad player, and strength in depth is what is needed to compete in four competitions, we make our lineup better. 

We need better wing backs for the Champions League.

Why's that then? What's he done wrong in his 16 appearances to date to (15 wins and one loss) that he needs upgrading? 

Will you prefer it if we sign an inferior player as an alternative to Alonso when we all know we will be competing in the Champions league and with lots of matches to be played anyone can get injured?

So, to keep my point to it's most basic point. 

I keep seeing comments about buying an "upgrade" on Alonso. However Alonso has made only 16 league appearances for us. In those 16 appearances we have won 15 games and lost 1. During the last 15 games in which he has started (his 16th appearance being as a sub against Arsenal) we have conceded just 6 goals. 

Essentially, right now, I don't see the argument for "upgrading" Alonso.

If you are not always looking to improve, then you're asking for a season like last season.

All well and good to say everything is fine from a results point of view, that doesn't mean there aren't issues.

That's so frustrating. He'd be perfect as a back up to Alonso, LWB seems more his natural position than LB.

We didn't evolve after the double winning season and look what happened the season after, likewise after the 2015 title. Whether LWB is the first position we should look at to evolve/upgrade is debatable, what isn't is that we should be hitting the market in the summer for 2-3 players to improve the side (potentially more given lack of depth at present) regardless of how this season pans out.

No because he is still our player. He is still young, he showed last season glimpses of his ability.

Babayaro was howling, such a frustrating player. I was still in the east upper back in those days.

Imo............Baba Rahman was a ridiculous signing in the first place, and made no sense.....he was and or is certainly not worth any where near the 18 million pounds paid for him......and is no way better than the Chelsea youth team players we already had on our books at the time he was signed and or currently have. 

Ok he has potential.......but so does everyone else in his age group !!

Tbf he did have a fantastic season the year before he came to us. He was definitely better than the LB's we had in our youth teams. 

He's injured and won't be fit until September/October, cruciate ligament damage and torn cartilage, I feel sorry for the kid.

We cannot be too critical on Chelsea's signings over the past seasons not many 'flops' and many sold for much more than we brought them for Patrick Bamford, Mohamed Salah, ,Ramires, Oscar ,Romelu Lukaku, Kevin De Bruyne

Discuss. Competition for Alonso? Media nonsense? Or is Baba beyond redemption? 

As he is still on our books there is nothing wrong with looking at him in a backup role to Alonso. Like Alonso the wing back role would suit him better than a pure LB role in a flat back four as both are a little suspect defensively. This could also free up funds to strengthen other areas so win /win if he is able to do a job for us. Has he fully recovered from his injury yet?

Makes sense.

Would be a decent back-up. Alonso has shown to get better and better as the season has panned out, hope he can continue that next season too. Also, no point in wasting any more money on LB/LWB position (Luis, Kenedy, BABA).
