When will he be available for selection?

We didn't include him in the Premier League squad selection at the end of August, so he won't be available until January at the earliest.

He didn't seem that good of a player to me when he played but new manager and slightly different position, maybe he can fit in.

But I wonder how ready he'll be in January after a long lay off? And with Kenedy unable to get a single league game I think we'll end up just buying a new LWB.

Yeah, register him in January, and give him the next half a season to challenge Alonso, and see what he can do. He should be better at wingback than fullback.

I would like him to be given a shot. If we are judging players on the 2015-16 season, then we need to get rid of hazard, pedro and many more.

A 21 year old, new league and most importantly absolutely horrendous moment for the club. Not the best point for any player to be judged.

I hope Conte gives him an opportunity. Showed some positives, specially that PSG away performance and even Kiev (IIRC, playing against yarmelenko).

Can be a decent 2nd Lb option and give alonso time to rest/rotate.

If Conte doesn't think he's worthy of having a squad number then I think it speaks for itself.

Conte seems to give many players a chance here, if it was Jose Mourinho I would give Baba the benefit of the doubt because Jose is known to make heavy statements wherever he goes. But Conte doesn't seem to rate him at all, I would trust his judgement on that.

Impressed by the clip and like Zeta had forgotten who he was, kept visualising Celestine Babayaro.

Rahman looks good in the clips though with a complicated injury it might be touch and go whether he can actually regain his form.

I dont think that we can make a statement of Conte rating him or not.

Last season, with no CL, we knew we would have a very friendly fixture list and a small squad would suffice. Hence the loan.

This season Baba was not going to be 100% fit until October.

I remember Baba saying that Conte himself had asked him to go on loan last season so that he can play regularly and improve the defensive side of his game.

IF conte does not rate him, then I am totally behind the manager, but I honestly dont know if thats the case or not.

Id be pretty surprised if he plays for us again tbh. He said some pretty negative things after going out in loan last season. I can see him spending the nect 18 months on loan, hopefully building his price tag up, before being sold.

Gaffer had some words of encouragement for Baba today in the pre-match press conference for the match vs Stoke City.  Here are a few quotes that Don Antonio had about Baba:

“He is coming back from a bad injury and he’s struggling a bit to recover the best form,” Conte explained.

“I must be honest, I don’t know what will happen with Baba.

“About the human aspect, I’d like to give him the opportunity to come back strong like before, but I think now he has to face the recovery and he’s showing great patience, because he is struggling a lot.

“I don’t know what will happen with Baba, but if I can help him then I am ready to help.

“There is the player aspect and also the human aspect. It is good for him to stay here and take the right time to recover.”

Poor guy, he's a massive fan of the club and no doubt it was a dream of his to play here.
Just hasn't worked out for him.

Hmmm... So going by the words from Conte in the actual conference (video), he thinks Baba isn't really there yet and needs time to recover. Also that he would like to help him if possible and give him an opportunity, but that he isn't sure what will happen.

He sees Baba working hard but finding it difficult to recover fully.

Thinks it's wiser for him to stay and continue his rehab here.

...If Kenedy does leave on loan... That would leave Alonso only and a Baba who isn't up to the level required by Conte. That has to mean a left back incoming, surely?

Rumours that he could join Schalke on an 18 month loan deal within the next couple of days.

Club might as well have just got £20m and set it on fire for all the use this lad turned out to be for us.

Crazy to think we spent huge sums on Luis, Rhaman, Alonso and look set to sign another left back for around £20m.

£80m spent on the same position within the space of 4/5 years? Craziness.

Can you believe we spent £20m on him?

One of our poorer investments in recent years. Looked pretty clueless from the moment we bought him. When you consider we’ve had the likes of Ake in our ranks at the same time you’ve got to wonder why the club keeps feeling the need to look outside rather than promoting from within.
