Both their names end with an "O".

José commented today:

Jose Mourinho has revealed that the decision to sign relatively unknown defender Papy Djilobodji was not his choice.

Chelsea turned to the Senegal international after failing to convince Everton to sell them John Stones, despite making a final bid of around £36m for the England international.

Djilobodji arrived from Nantes on transfer deadline day for a more modest fee of £2.7m.

Mourinho said today about the signing of the 26-year-old: "It was not my choice. It was the choice of somebody I trust completely.

"I don't know every player. My job doesn't allow me to travel, doesn't allow me to spend hours and hours watching players.

"And in some moments of the market, under certain circumstances are moments where you have to trust or not the people that you work with."

Mourinho did not reveal who it was who made the recommendation, but added: "In my case I trust, because the same person that told me that Djilobodji can be a good squad player for us, was the same person who told me (about Kurt) Zouma."

To be honest we already knew that Jose didn't sanction all signings.

When we was linked with Motu he admitted some players are looked at for commercial reasons.

We have a massive scouting network and for squad based players like Zouma and Djilobodji he makes sense to use that scouting team.

I am pretty sure Mourinho has more input then he is letting on

These scouts do endless research on a few options and present the analysis to the Management/Coaches for sign off before they can officially approach a club for a transfer.

We wont see him play in meaningful matches- already not in CL squad, maybe a cameo at  Walsall away and another couple

of cup games

I dont think he was referring to Emenalo. I think he was referring to our French scout

Guy Hillion.

Bearing in mind though, he also said Kakuta was the most gifted Footballer of his generation.

This sisgning was a typical transfer comittee signing. Someone they identified as being undervalued and decided to take a gamble on hoping he would latch on as a decent squad player or that we could make a profit selling him later on. Its moneyball 101

Spot on i think. I also think why not, we seem to be very good at it.

Also Malouda, Azpi, Zouma, and probably Hazard he had a say in.

It also means that we haven't signed anyone high profile for big money that would then prevent us going for Stones and/or Pogba again in January. For example if we'd signed Garay or Marquinhos for £25m then there's no way we could go for Stones again.

Might get out first look at the lad on Wednesday night.

If he doesn't start, I think it'll speak volumes about what Jose thinks of this signing.

This 100%

will be very interesting to see if the lad gets a game this evening. if he doesnt, then id be surprised if we see him in a chelsea shirt, at all (barring any major injuries), given jose's preference to stick with the tried and tested.
