January 15, 201610 yr Maybe we're trying to add big names to our hall of fame as proof they played here. We do like signing big name forwards at the latter end of their prime: Weah Crespo Shevchenko Falcao And now possibly add Pato. Crespo? Na not having that
January 15, 201610 yr Regarding Pato I can understand why the majority are against it..... it has all the hallmarks of being another train wreck of a signing. That said, in our current plight, if we can get him cheap and move Falcao off at the same time I wold be willing to take a chance on it. The only thing that would be guaranteed is that he couldn't possibly contribute any less than Falcao. It would however ask serious questions about the likelihood of our youth ever actually having confidence put in them.
January 15, 201610 yr Unless you have watched him playing for Corinthians or Sao Paulo a lot, not just highlights or youtube, then it is hard to judge how well or poor he would do with us. Looking at the strikers that have been linked with us, none of them make you really want the club to sign them. Vardy £30m because of a good run of form scoring 11 games running, aged 29 Bacca 30m euros, aged 29 Jackson Martinez, flopped in Spain Ade-f**king-bayor, even for free he can f**k off Berahino, probably £20m minimum, bad attitude and not the finished article, potential is what we'd pay for with him. Pato £11m. Not seen him since he left Milan so cant judge. None of them make me pray the club sign them, Lacazette has done sod all lately supposedly and doesnt want to leave until the summer. Without CL and with Atletico Madrid's impending transfer ban, can forget about Griezmann as they cant replace until summer 2017. Higuain, no thanks. Cavani.. yeh id take a punt on him Spot on Rick but tbf I wud love Higuain here but then that's just my opinion.
January 15, 201610 yr I feel Pato don't even want to come to Europe. He's already been here. Who would want to leave sunny Brazil for rainy tuesday nights at Stokalona.
January 15, 201610 yr "Corinthians want to offload Alexandre Pato so badly. He’s rated as the worst signing ever made by the club" Oh dear is this what we have come down to. Why o fu.kin why can't we give Bamford a run out.
January 15, 201610 yr Time for the club to make up its mind about Bamford...clearly Falco is not going back to Monaco...they've confirmed that today...but with his injuries he's not worth even considering as a fourth striker and so I'd unregister him and register Bamford for the rest of the season for all competitions...and as for Pato...not fit enough to make pate with...
January 15, 201610 yr Why can't we play Traore or Bamford? We also have players like Solanke and Abraham who are real goalscorers.
January 15, 201610 yr If the club aren't willing to play youngsters then this wouldn't be a bad punt at the right price. That said, it's becoming more and more of a given that we'll never see an academy product shine all the way through to the first team. How depressing.
January 15, 201610 yr hiddink has pretty much said no one is getting sold and we have youngsters to take up positions in the side/squad (paraphrasing) so all this buy, buy, buy that's been rumoured seems to be a lot of tosh. i never understood why we need to go pay out loads of money on players in mediocre/poor leagues when we already have youngsters here, of whom could turn out to be equally as talented. i prefer it this way, we save money and no rash buys, then we can wait to see where our position is and buy if necessary in the summer. our spending for this month if we were to go ahead with the rumoured links would be something like: pato - 11m teixera - 30m donsah - (dunno exact amount, but probably still more than 10 mil) so around 50 million on players we really know very little about and aren't exactly setting the world alight; players who may not be as good as what we have waiting in the wings. January 15, 201610 yr Guus shot this one down today. Said we are not interested. He also strongly indicated we would not be doing business this window.
January 15, 201610 yr Be a pretty underwhelming end to the season if we didn't. It's clear the kids won't feature to any great extent so even that wont be there to keep our spirits high.
January 15, 201610 yr Cant believe we won't add at least one player this window. I understand some of the comments about Pato but considering there's been rumours about Adebayor in recent weeks then I know which one I'd prefer. I'd like us to move for Lacazette. Newcastle had a £22m bid accepted apparently. Remy and Bamford to leave on loan
January 15, 201610 yr Looks like this is happening. Can't help but feeling it's a massive waste if money but I hope I'm wrong
January 15, 201610 yr Seems like we're close to sign him. What a useless buy, and it seems like we're going to sell Remy to give a place to Pato and keep Falcao. What's going on?
January 15, 201610 yr I thought Guus just tried diverting all the attention away from it and looked annoyed being asked about the window every week. The stuff about the kids made no sense kind of, as it was 3-4 days ago he said Bamford wont get a look in until he can prove himself in U21. And also said we cant afford to risk an injury to Remy or Costa and be in a dangerous position of being short upfront again so we are discusssing a striker to come in. I'd suspect it is a club signing and not Guus' choice, and he just didnt want to speak about it. If it was just agent linking him to us, i think the noises in Brazil would not be coming from reputable sources like ESPNBrazil, Globo and Lance!

January 15, 201610 yr Come to think of it, if this deal was done over Guus head with Emenalo's say so... i would be totally unsurprised
January 15, 201610 yr i have always maintained that if the manager is not choosing the buys and sales, the person 's' who are should be on the touch line
January 15, 201610 yr Why nobody wants to sign Alexandre Pato (except us maybe)... http://www.fourfourtwo.com/features/why-nobody-wants-sign-alexandre-pato#:n4s6Mlffyj131Q "The Brazilian centre-forward has never settled at the Parque Sao Jorge. Corinthians board member Edu, the former Arsenal midfielder, has declared the same repetitive reason as his colleagues for Pato’s failure at Corinthians. “We were all happy when he arrived [in 2013] – even the media was cheerful, I remind you,” he said. “But he didn’t have the guts that our supporters demand of any player signed by Corinthians. “It’s not that he should have been mean on the pitch, but to have a little bit of knife between his teeth; to think ‘If I’m not doing well technically today I’ll do it in another way, I’ll use my strength’.” In Hazard, Oscar, and Pedro we already have players who are unable to use strength and physicality to their advantage, the last thing we need is another. Won't happen but if we're looking to bring another South American I think we'd be better off signing Tevez. Unequivocally do not want. Edited January 15, 201610 yr by the special one
