I can see some logic. Matic needs to regain his form and apparently Guus doesn't trust Loftus-Cheek to play without Mikel in midfield to do the defensive work. But that midfield is still defensively weak based on this season's evidence.

Obviously he doesn't trust Miazga which is why Mikel is there, but Miazga only gets better with games so why not play him today? Are we seriously looking at moving Mikel into defence?

Hazard needs to get fit for the Euros, but does Pedro really need to keep playing? Could we not got with a midfield three?

Ultimately each choice can be justified BUT you have to be thinking very short-term. I honestly can't wait to see the back of Hiddink, because like Pato he's living on achievements from five years ago.

I just don't see why we can't use these games to give the youth players some experience. 5 games ago I can understand trying to get the senior players to finish strongly, but all chances of Europe are gone. I'd evenever go as far to say conte should have some input into the tactics, formations, and personnel we use from here on in, to give him more data to analyse going into the summer. Maybe conte is having some input, but I doubt it.
