Needs to improve the finishing, but I still think that he would be a good complement to Costa.

Woke up this morning and went straight to see Chelsea transfer news. When I saw he was our only link and at 60m euros at that, I couldn't help myself and started sobbing uncontrollably. Hopefully we'll see actually good talent linked once this sh*t euro tournament ends but I am not hopeful. We are already pretty far behind PSG, Barca, Bayern and Madrid etc and signings like these that can't even make it into those teams are only gonna worsen the disadvantage we have to them.

Is 7.5 really that much? 150k a week? We 100% have a few players on that already and considering we're paying 2016 prices I don't think it's outrageous. For me the 60m is much harder to swallow

I believe it's in euros, so in pounds it'll be closer to 100k a week.

Torres wasn't THAT good even in his prime, he has outstanding pace and explosiveness but was always technically limited player, hence how he's been badly exposed since he lost his pace.

He was good but a level below Drogba, Eto'o and Villa.

I wouldn't call Drogba technically gifted either, didn't mean he wasn't world class.

His biggest asset was his power, Torres' like you say was his pace and explosiveness. Both physical traits not technical. Both world class.

Agree. I don't know how people could even compare Torres to Villa! And to me it was annoying was how much praise Torres always got in comparison. I'd say two levels down Drogba and Villa.

You've obviously got a short memory, Torres at Atletico was one of the most feared strikers in Europe. He was also a huge thorn in the side of Barcelona for one, they often would adapt their game to try and cope with him. Nothing worked. Of course that doesn't make him one of the most feared in Europe on that little stat alone but it's an example of how good he actually was.

After that he was phenomenal for Liverpool until of course injuries changed all that and a move to us.

But even when with us he still finished top of the goal charts (alongside a few others of course) during the Euro's in 2012 for Spain.

I think like 50%. Of his goals where pens against barca and he didn't bust the 20 goal mark every season I think Liverpool brought him for his potential more then the finished article, I actually didn't rate him that highly at Madrid , think he doped under benitez

Drogba was a technically gifted player, hench why he could still offer something even when past his best, Torres after he lost his pace and power was a pathetic excuse of a footballer and held us back as a club for many years.
