Romelu Lukaku

Featured Replies

While I agree £65-£75 million for Lukaku is overvalued if Costa is on his way (to PSG perhaps?) for me we could a lot worse. If say PSG offer £50m or so for Diego and Everton still owe us payments from an FFP perspective perhaps we won't be too out of pocket (if anything at all). If Costa wants to leave I'd prefer if we replace with Mandzukic and go all in for Draxler/Ricardo Rodriguez/Koulibaly.

Nup.

Neither are great at holding a ball up while Costa tends to drift.

Michy and either Costa/Lukaku would be a better fit.

Couldn't agree more.

I've been really impressed by what i've seen of Michy thus far.

For me Costa and Lukaku are way to simillar to play alongside eachother. Their both good goal poachers, but their both average target strikers, who struggle to hold onto the ball and their linkup play is not that good either. I will keep saying that Hazard fits alot better as that second striker in a 3-5-2 or 4-2-4/4-4-2, then he does as a winger. With Hazard, Batshuayi and Costa we have enough coverage, atleast when we are not playing CL or EL. Spend the money on central defenders / Full backs, thats where we need to strengthen.

I agree with every word.

Reports are we made enquiries for PSV's LB whose name is Arias and the annually links of Ricardo Rodriguez.

Very good player, but... he's another right footed right back whose secondary position is left back.

Serious question - 70m for Lukaku or 100m for Pogba? Both a similar age, both have insane amounts of talent, both potentially bought back by their old clubs.

(I think they're also really good friends too)

The big difference was that you were able to sell Lukaku to Everton for a big fee, Pogba basically went for a free from us.

we are dithering a bit here and paying a lot of attention to lukaku, whereas defence is being neglected somewhat. mustafi is in london (could be us or arsenal) and koulibaly is said to be being offered an improved contract. i am all for making good signings, but lukaku is taking precedent (it seems) over our real issues. £65 million could have got us 2 defenders by now, including the sale of remy and we would have improved areas we needed to and could turn the focus to wherever else in the squad.

That's the media drawing your attention to Lukaku.  I'm sure Conte has his ducks in a row

Mandzukic is absolutely awful

Amen to that.

I want to wipe that smirk off that individual's smug face. You're going to give me nightmares, Adam. In fact, I don't think I can go to sleep tonight after seeing that. Thanks buddy :sadwalk:

Agreed, he is - but if it means we can use the funds to strengthen in areas that we need to then so be it. If we can offset the cost of Lukaku by selling Diego hopefully we won't need to.

Unfortunately the pool of top class strikers is very shallow at the moment, we're definitely getting ripped off for Lukaku but I don't think there are many other alternatives.

If Everton don't accept a bid of 67m and Remy they are the biggest idiots in the world and are playing hardball simply and only because we are Chelsea.

Leicester look to have uncovered another decent striker. Will be interesting to see how he fairs in the coming season.

We're bigger idiots for bidding that much for Lukaku
