So glad i chose this username now. Nothing more than a chequebook Pulis now. All charisma has gone.

I thought that when he went there, yet he rescued CL qualification with that Europa run when they had loads of injuries.

Yesterday felt like Karma, the wheels came off our bandwagon during the spat when JM mentioned match-fixing aimed at Conte, yesterday felt like retribution.

I don’t get what’s been wrong with him since he left Madrid. Even when he came back and declared himself “the happy one”, something was off. He did look genuinely happy when we won the league cup but he didn’t when we won the league. Then move on to last season at Man Utd, he wins the league cup and Europa League but was miserable as sin after both. I’m not saying I expected him to be happy yesterday but think back to that Jose that was here back in 2004-06 he smiled a lot. Now he never even cracks one. What is up with the guy?

Yesterday was very telling. He complained about having no presence in the box because Lukaku and Fellaini were absent. What he meant was he can't play without a big lump to hoof the ball to. No matter how much he spends, no matter how much attacking talent he has at his disposal, no matter how many great players he has, he simply has no idea beyond lumping it to the big lump up front. Hysterical.

City have a presence up front, in the form of diminutive strikers like Aguero or Jesus. Similarly Liverpool, they don't have any trouble scoring goals. I'd be very worried by those comments if I were a Man Utd fan. It really shows an acute lack of imagination.

too long at the top? not exactly a stress free career he has had, could probably so with a bit of time out

Good shout that tbh, maybe the gamea like a drug for him and he can’t let go. I actually think he’d be better off doing international management.

That forum has been laughable over the last few days. I had a glance at their individual player threads, and the fans want pretty much every player out by the looks of things. I'm not saying we are perfect on here, but even we don't want the majority of the squad sold.

I was saying this in his last season with us. The guy just looked like he had completely lost it. That side of Mourinho has come very close to reappearing during his time with United, especially last season. The guy is always on the defence, incredibly paranoid, and says the weirdest things. He used to be quite clever with his words in the past and had a cool arrogance about him, now we just roll our eyes at him.

I think he plays a character too much, he's obsessed with the character that is Jose Mourinho, the so called Special One. He plays this character non stop and i think it has damaged his coaching abilities and his reputation. He fears defeat these days, you can see it, he's so afraid of becoming the next specialist in failure. I remember watching him during the Europa League last season, the guy was close to tears when United were hanging on in the Semi Final. It just looked like he had lost his head. He had to win that game, not for United, but for his character. This is how it is with Mourinho now, he's trying to win to keep that character alive rather than win for himself and the team.

When i listen to his interviews, i don't get the impression that this is a real person speaking, it feels like a character. The only time it feels like the real Jose Mourinho speaking is when he is being overly defensive about his character.

I may be reading too much into it, but i look at the guy and he looks shattered. He really looks like he needs a break.

^ Agreed, @Scott Harris , something inside him cracked after coming back from Madrid. It's actually quite alarming to see, his mannerisms and the "wild look" he has had in his eyes for the past few years, almost like a manic glint. But not a manic glint of intelligence, but a man looking like he is close to breaking point all the time.

As you said, when he came back for his second spell with us, he looked initially happy but just look at his face when he is hugging and patting Conte on the back in congratulations after the FA cup final the other day- he looked like a man possessed.

He needs a good year break from football, then should go manage an international side. Far less stress and less critics- Man Utd has been a horrible fit for him.

What's disgusting is- I'd have him back at Chelsea in a heartbeat.

You have got to be joking?

The old Mourinho, yes - but not the present day shell of a Mourinho.

He has burnt out. He is in danger of becoming a "specialist in failure" that he happily ridiculed. Despite having a hugely expensive squad with a whole load of talent, he has got them playing some of the most boring and unimaginative football possible and he doesn't seem to have an answer now that is not working, other than throw another few million at it.

It's kinda sad, but then when you behave how Mourinho has done at times, it's also karma.

No, he used to be a good fit. Now I'm not sure he's a good fit for anyone.

Honestly wouldn't touch him with a barge-pole nowadays.

I know. But Chelsea is his home. He just isn't happy anywhere else.

You gotta let it go, @Blueblur  The man ain't the same these days.

Indeed, as I said in my rambling post above. It's hard.

On a serious note, I think he has some mental issues, something is blocking his clarity and wrecking his mojo. He's appears to be going through the motions like he did with us.

I am not sure if he is still living in that same hotel room on his own all week. He is living proof that huge fortunes don't always make you happier, he looks utterly miserable.

Genuinely think he has some form of depression etc, which is a bit sad. He used to be full of craic as we say in Ireland. Something has changed.

He's a stubborn git either way, and a terrible loser, just like Ferguson. Their teams were always robbed by a referee, a player, or they played better when they lose...

I am so glad we have moved on.

Quote

A delusion of grandeur is the fixed, false belief that one possesses superior qualities such as genius, fame, omnipotence, or wealth. It is most often a symptom of schizophrenia, but can also be a symptom found in psychotic or bipolar disorders, as well as dementia (such as Alzheimer’s).

People with a delusion of grandeur often have the conviction of having some great but unrecognized talent or insight. They may also believe they have made some important discovery that others don’t understand or appreciate.

Less commonly, the individual may have the delusion of having a special relationship with a prominent person (such as being an adviser to the President). Or the person may believe that actually are a very prominent and important person, in which case the actual person may be regarded as an imposter.

Grandiose delusions may have religious content, such as the person believes he or she has received a special message from God or another deity.

Sometimes, in popular language, this disorder may be known as “megalomania,” but is more accurately referred to as narcissistic personality disorder if it is a core component of a person’s personality and identity. In such disorders, the person has a greatly out-of-proportion sense of their own worth and value in the world. People with this issue can also sometimes have a taste for the finer, more extravagant things in life.

Sometimes drug use or abuse can intensify or bring on episodes of delusion of grandeur. People who take phencyclidine (PCP) or amphetamines are especially at risk. People who are high and experience a delusion of grandeur may be at increased risk for physically harmful behavior. For instance, if you believe you are capable of flying after taking PCP, and try to jump off a 10-story building based upon that false belief, you may be at serious risk of death.

I think losing his Father really hit him hard, he has always had a slightly histrionic personality, but he also had a humorous side to him, which appears to be gone. He is no longer the young, all conquering hero, standing beside Fergie and Wenger he looked like the newcomer, now he just looks jaded and stressed.

Living away from his family can't help either. I still love him for what he did at Chelsea, but I must admit part of me is relishing the fact that ManU won't be winning the league anytime soon.

For his own sake though I'd love him to come good somewhere else, preferably managing Portugal.

Looking at it in hindsight all the signs were there in the second half of the title season, if it weren't for Coutois and Hazard then forget the title, we would have been dragged into a top four scrap. His mood was on a vast decline and his campaign vs Chelsea comments and his appearance on goals on Sunday especially were bizarre.

We gave him the benefit of the doubt it was all part of the focus to get the title home, but it was actually the beggining of an all time collapse, that's why i was never convinced by the comments that Cech and Drogba's presence would have saved things, because the wheels began to fall off while both were still about.

United fanbase is as split as it ever has been, that's what Jose does when he joins your club, he attracts negative and unwanted energy. Unfairly targets players and says stupid things, remember his comments on Eto'o about his age being a lie? Completely unnecessary even if Eto'o did take it as a joke, this is the type of sh*t he does, he flirts with power.

The biggest thing I hate right now regarding Jose and all we hear is "mind games" "It's just mind games", that's all I heard when he bitterly criticised our tactics after the game "deflecting attention"... Why is everything 4D chess when it comes to Mourinho? Could it be that the man is just a bitter pillock who loses his rag very often when he loses?

I do think Jose is thick skinned, but he's as thick-skinned as he is bitter and he'll very rarely acknowledge when he has done wrong. His way of playing is outdated and it has been for years, I'll be very surprised if he wins the league next season, but having said that I said the same about Guardiola last season. I just hope this time I'm right.

The fact is they have the most expensive squad ever assembled and they are playing crap football. The only way fans will put up with that is if there is lots of silverware.

He's always won the league in his second season generally, now that has stopped.  His usual third season syndrome could be coming next season as well...

No manager in the country will be under more pressure next season.

Pep and Klopp have just bought themselves plenty of slack for next season with a current outstanding season.

Chels and Ars both with new managers in their honeymoon season.

That leaves Poch and Jose in the big six under extreme pressure next season to win the league, or champions league, Poch could get away with winning domestic cups, but Jose needs one of the big two trophies.

We could see Jose go through a major meltdown next season.

In what sense, Jose not winning the league next season?

It will take a very brave man to bet on him doing so.
