Michy Batshuayi to Chelsea

Coud Hazard not play in behind the two strikers? I remember reading many times him saying that's his favourite position anyway.

It wouldn't change too much either as we'd still have the 3CB's, wing backs and 2CM's behind him as we did most of last season too.

Spurs, Arsenal, United had a similar trend that our mid 2 got found out.

I personally would like a mid 3 to provide even more security to defence and freedom to eden.

It would also suit someone like Cesc massively. I dont know much about tolisso so cant say, but Cesc-Bakayoko-Kante would be amazing. With Hazard and Lukaku upfront.

Also, personally I like a mid 3, Mid 2 seems way too open at times.

Second. Especially open when you have Matic or Cesc as one of the two. Kante gets a lot of credit but I don't know if it's enough the amount of times he had to cover for those two.

For anyone more interested in the tactical side theres a great breakdown of how Conte used 3-5-2 at Juve on youtube done by an assistant at Reading or somewhere. Ill see if I can find the link. Essentially one of the 2 forwards drops deeper or goes out wide which would fit Hazard to a T

I think it would be very similar to allegri's 3-5-2 where mandzukic goes wide to defend

While that is true, i think Hazard himself favours the left, so that he can cut in and shoot. I dont remember him being half as effective from the right.

Also, what happens to pedro/willian in this case?

Yeah, even as a SS he can run in from the left. He favours the no.10 role as he said before and because he has been playing a lot closer to Costa this season, he has scored more goals.

Regarding Pedro/Willian, that is what manager is paid big bucks to do. In big games, I can see maybe us playing 3-5-2 and them both being subs to provide better protection to midfield. Hard to say. If Costa goes then you would think it would be very similar to this season with us playing 3-4-3 and them two rotating. All depends.

I think 3-5-2 will give us far more options. We can go flat 3-5-2(3-5-1-1) or a more juve-ish (3-4-1-2)

Cant see both willian and pedro being a part though. I will keep willian in case we play 3-5-2. as he is more apt defensively and I can see him play the 3-4-1-2 (the floater dybala role) much more effectively.

Rumours are going around that we are after Mbappe, has to be a load of nonsense, I can't see us signing both Lukaku and Mbappe. With Diego set to leave, I'm hopeful that Michy stays, he clearly has bags of talent and how many times do we have to shoot ourselves in the foot? Time to give players a chance before getting rid immediately.

I agree, we don't need to sign two strikers in my opinion, one is enough to replace Costa. Batashuayi is a good striker, selling him or loaning him out is such a waste of money and time.

Bats has made it clear he wants more game time. He won't be content with the time he got last season and if we play in the same shape and bring Lukaku in for big money he will be expecting to start every game when fit. Tough call.

One of the players that I really appreicate this season. A lot of players at his position would ask to leave, ask for minutes, speak badly about the team or the coach, but Batshuayi kept working, didn't talk in public, always supported the team. Scored our most importang goal this season, when we needed him he was there. He deserves to stay with us and he has to be first option next season. If we're going to play with two strikers, then it would be perfect. The guy is a really professional and I respect that most, he deserves some respect from the club.

I really hope to see him playing much more next season, he is very talented and only need more minutes to show that he got more to offer.

You;ll need to be a bit more specific and convincing than that.

Well. Mourinho was the big problem. With someone like Conte we probably would have had another story. A better one.

Do you mean the pre-season series of friendlies in America?

No. I mean the last very good games in Germany. His already amazing played games against Bayern and his experience against that team.

And in the friendlies before the final, he was the best Chelsea player. No doubt about that.

My question is still, wWhy didn't he played the final?

Mourinho's first mistake? Are you getting just a little bit confused? And who would you have dropped from the first team against Bayern to make way for KDB who had shown nothing to justify that in competitive matches?

Yep. His first and biggest.

André Schürrle.

KDB had showed many times that he was better then André.

And he stiill is.

As to the first bolded bit, I'm not sure that he did, but I'll take your word for it.   For the second, that is just tin-foil helmet silliness.  In the world of top-class professional football, you are trying to tell me that one of the top managers in the world (regardless of what some muppets think) would deliberately weaken his team because he had taken "a dislike" to a player?

My point was that someone said KDB should have played in the Munich final.  That is just wrong.  Anyway, my point is still that KDB showed very little whilst a Chelsea player to warrant a first team place and I have said that I am happy to apologise and change my view if ANYONE can give me ANY proof that he was performing well enough AT THAT TIME.

(Capitals for emphasis)

Yep. I did.

KDB should have played the final!

The point is that he had (after the final) just 123 minutes in several games, Yorkleyblue. He had no change at all.

Mourinho is still a top world class manager!

But! He has maked a mistake. Simply.

He's not God and I'm sure you are not the unbelieving Thomas.

On 23-2-2017 at 12:49, yorkleyblue said:

Fair enough, but to claim managerial dislike as a reason seems to me to much less likely than the player in question was consistently showing nothing in daily training to warrant a starting place.

We won't know the true reasons until both KDB and Mourinho release their autobiographies, but I will stick with my view that, whenever he did get a chance, he was pants (except for the first game, is that is what happened) and I wouldn't have picked him based on performance.  AND, I still say that, even now, he is largely hit-or-miss.  Sometimes he can play a world-class pass or dribble like a proper professional, but most of the time that I see him (which I accept is not every match) he seems to have poor decision-making capabilities, doesn't turn up if things aren't going for City and bottles crucial situations.

Meanwhile we know the reasons, Yorkleyblue.

I may be wrong but didn't De Bruyne badly twist his knee in pre season just before this game against Bayern?? I remember a volleyed goal followed by an awkward landing i just can't remember when it was.

Indeed, RIP Mourinho.

But he was ready to start.

He was good.

Absolutly for a second half. Or for the extensions. Or for taken a penalty instead Lukaku. (Mourinho's second big mistake.)

Yep the consensus say that, but people also said otherwise, so a matter of perspective there.

€40m deal with Marseille according L'equipe.

He's having his medical tomorrow apparently and will sign on a five year deal.

Hopefully he turns out as well as the last striker we signed from Marseille.

And?

Satisfied, JMaher94?
