You have mentioned the 4-0 Bournemouth defeat. What a horror show that was. Probably our worst performance for a decade or more IMO. The thing I remember most about Sarriball is the amount of passes it generally took to move the ball from our box to the halfway line. Only for it to usually come back again. And he never committed players forwards in numbers in front of the ball. If we were fortunate enough to eventually move the ball into a dangerous area there was rarely anyone there. They were all behind the ball. It was so booooorrrrriiinngggggg! The end of that season everything was down to Hazard and the teams around us imploding. I wouldn't seeing Big Samuele Allardycihio in Serie A for a season of two. Maybe he could achieve big things there. Quite a few would probably want him here then. I think you're just being hateful at this point. It's crystal clear that Sarri and his football got the best out of Hazard. Didn't we finish top 3 overall? Why focus only on a few bad loses when a new manager completely changed the way we played and got a great result out of it? You want a few games to be the narrative but it doesn't work and I already responded to that comment, we did beat Man City that season despite all the problems that Sarri inherited, that alone was a huge feat. Imagine doing the same to Lampard - "Everything was down to the teams around us imploding and we had Pulisic carrying us by the end of the season."

Possibly lack of time to drill the team was a factor as well. Over in Serie A, it is going to be interesting to see how the Juve fans react when Pirlo fails to deliver the their customary title ... I bet they won't want Sarri back though 🙂 I can't think of two more contrasting leagues SF. What works well in one will not necessarily be successful in the other. That goes for players, managers and tactics. Thoroughly enjoyed Conte's first season though. Any manager who could deliver a formation that could make David Luiz look semi-decent at times is a football genius.

Did you ever get to watch any of our football under Ruud Gullit? Vialli? John Neal? Have you ever heard the record by The Jam, "That's Entertainment" ?

Well according to OptaCobblers.com 98.64% of people who expressed a preference said it was possession for the sake possession, passing for the sake of passing, having a system that doesn't commit players forwards and Tottenham.

You take the piss out of Gol with Jorginho but you're just as bad as he is, or even worse when it comes to the likes of Kante and Zouma or any other physical player. If any of them have a sh*te game or a blunder you blame it on someone else. Kovacic playing well, "yeah well he's not as good as Essien", Zouma had an absolute mare "yeah well he's not as bad as David Luiz". You should reassess your own behaviour and arguments first before you start taking the piss out of someone else.

Pot kettle and black slojo. Look up FICKLE in the dictionary and there's probably a photo of you. With your ever changing opinions on everything. Kante, first he's a contender for POTY, then he's rubbish. You support Frank, you want Frank out. You're like a kid. You can't hold the same view for more than six weeks. That's why it's always so simple to trip you up.
February 24, 20215 yr what an amazing option to be able to put on the pitch to close out a game like that.

I bet they won't want Sarri back though 🙂 I wasbcurious why Sarri was successful with Napoli but kinda fail to play napoli way with juventus and with us I forget where but I read a very good explanation of Sarriball. It was basically a circuit football, you have set of pattern that you stick to. It worked with lesser player but you can't ask star footballer to play that way,it restrict them

So for people that gave up with Sarri due to that game, I don't know how you couldn't give up on Frank after that pitiful Arsenal game. Different mistake. Arsenal loss because Lamp player selection, he keep playing Pulisic, werner on the wing in big games. Both didn't want to defend, same against city with Ziyech. That 6-0 city was suicide tactic by Sarri, absolutely crazy, we pressed Manchester City like maniac with multiple players. Simple pass broke through our press, destruction.

I wouldn't mind seeing Big Samuele Allardycihio in Serie A for a season of two. Maybe he could achieve big things there. Quite a few would probably want him here then if the stats were good. I honestly prefer faster and direct play style but I don't care, if play possession slow football and if it work, it is good. My concern is more on how to make the best out of attackers. No one will built the team for Jorginho, Kovacic, alonso, Christensen, etc, even kante at this stage. It is all about our player up top Werner, Havertz, mount, cho, Pulisic, ziyech, tammy. (Giroud is old) Probably the one that suit precise football the most is CHO. Werner and tammy clearly prefer direct football. Ziyech want to play direct. Mount and Havertz are probably leaning more on the direct side. I thought Havertz as technical monster when he came but he has struggled big time in tight space. Pulisic, I am not sure, probably will be fine either way
February 27, 20215 yr Really starting to get his form back, I read somewhere that with Ngolo's recent injury history TT is trying to be cautious with him. I'm all for it if we can manage him well he will still be a leathal weapon for this team

No surprise, he's finally being utilised appropriately instead of being shoehorned in every game he's available because he use to be world class. He's still more than got his part to play under those conditions.
February 28, 20215 yr Kante is an enigma. He is one of the greatest players I’ve seen at winning balls. But going forward he struggles. If TT can use him properly I’ll be ecstatic. I just don’t see a regular place for him in a 3 back. Even in a Rodri, Casemiro, Fabinho role he still doesn’t provide the forward progress. The way Rice is playing right now if we acquired him and sold Kante I don’t think it would be the end of the world. Edited February 28, 20215 yr by Mouwry

I'm guessing his price just went up.
February 28, 20215 yr He was still warming up in the first half. In the second half his performance went up a notch. He performs better when he sits deep and snuff out counters. Then just do the Jorginho thing of keeping the ball moving at a decent pace and link up with Kova more. I thought he shackled Bruno pretty well today

As I said in the pre match thread would have been a lot more worried if they started Van De Beek as he actually has pedigree in these games (including Vs us).
February 28, 20215 yr As for Kante, it's almost as if rotating him more adequately and saving him for the games/circumstances that suits his skillset makes him more effective than shoehorning him in every single match he's fit. Never saw that coming!
February 28, 20215 yr Superb. One poor ball to Reece James when we were attacking in the second half was his only unpressured mistake for me. His engine and reading of the game is phenomenal. Has to keep his place against Liverpool alongside Kova.
