August 18, 20169 yr He would automatically become our corner taker too, I assume, Which is something we need since willian more often than not, hits the first man.
August 18, 20169 yr I have wanted this guy for so long, i'm surprised no other top club has gone in and got him yet. He wouldn't just solve our full back problems, he would solve our set piece problems too. None of our current players are consistent enough with set pieces, how many corners and free kicks of ours hit the first man ? far too many from what i see. I really hope this rumour actually has something to it for once.
August 18, 20169 yr Can we put something in his contract that says he has to get rid of that ponytail? Lol Seriously good player who'd claim that place for easily the next 6-8years
August 18, 20169 yr £22M for one of the best left backs in the world? i don't believe it for a second. Wolfsburg aren't exactly strapped for cash and have no reason to sell. Look how much it cost City to prise KDB away from Wolfsburg, Rodriguez would cost alot more than £22M.
August 19, 20169 yr I believe he has or had a release clause of 29mm EUR or GBP. Even if it is GBP this guy is worth it. I have wanted him for a long time as I was so impressed with his skillset when I saw him play for Switzerland. I don't understand why we have not pounced on him but at the same time not surprised considering our recent history. I think he has great size, world-class offensive skills and would basically become a play-maker from the back with his long range passing ad crossing skills. I want this guy at Chelsea really bad!
August 19, 20169 yr This kind of post is so pathetic. And wrong . You need to let fans who care be fans who care. Edited August 19, 20169 yr by Boricua Blue
August 19, 20169 yr Author from january 2015 Rodriguez, 22, put pen to paper on a three-year-extension on Thursday, with kicker reporting that the contract includes a 25 to 30 million-euro release clause, which can first be activated in 2016. he has been linked heavily with liverpool and especially arsenal the past few months and surely the reason their negotiation broke down is that he wanted more dough on his contract, and i think we can offer that should be a no-brainer, it's a straight up robbery for that price Edited August 19, 20169 yr by havelschayes
August 19, 20169 yr Would be an ideal signing, looked solid at the Euros too. Not sure why we have left it so long to sign a replacement for Baba... I rate Dave and to be honest Iva had a good showing against West Ham but I can't help but see him struggle against a higher quality winger than Valencia. I would be very happy with a back four of: Dave - Terry/Cahill - Zouma (once he's fit) - Rodriguez Said it before but it seems as if we keep being linked with this high profile players that fit the bill perfectly and nothing ever eventuates. Both Manchester clubs have left us in the dust this window and both teams look solid depth-wise. I trust in Conte but I would have thought a LB signing would have been made already, ah well... can only hope
August 19, 20169 yr Im honestly starting to think the reason we havent Signed a fullback yet is because Conte wants to gradually move towards a 3-5-2
August 19, 20169 yr Im honestly starting to think the reason we havent Signed a fullback yet is because Conte wants to gradually move towards a 3-5-2 I think signing Rodriguez would enhance that view as he's very attacking for a left back and could easily play LWB. I also wonder whether this potential signing could indicate that we've given up on signing a CB and will maybe use Ivanovic as a CB this season? It would be great if we sign this guy and a centre back as it's badly needed but I think that this season without Champions League we would be strong with Azpilicueta/Ivanovic/Aina - Zouma/Ivanovic - Terry Cahill - Rodriguez/Azpilicueta/Aina. Yes it's not ideal as without Zouma there's a serious lack of pace but next season we can welcome back Christensen and with Clarke-Salter and Tomori coming through a gentle transition may work.
August 19, 20169 yr And Mr judgemental and Moral high horse is back. Do you get paid to go around nagging people? what a fitting nickname for him, perfect match..
August 19, 20169 yr I hope RR is in addition to another CB...even if we don't land K2 l, there are other CBs out there that would meet our needs...Brana would then be a backup for that position and in desperation as backup for RB...though Aina would be better in my opinion
August 19, 20169 yr what a fitting nickname for him, perfect match.. Give it a rest Bola, why even get involved?

August 19, 20169 yr Is there anything substanial to this other than some guesswork by the Mirror (which doesn't count!)

Look how much it cost City to prise KDB away from Wolfsburg, Rodriguez would cost alot more than £22M. this is why I am slightly worried if we do sign him. why so cheap, and after what seems to be several years of hype why has no one ever moved for him?
August 19, 20169 yr Seems a bargain and at £22mil pretty much every epl club could easily afford him so wait for the likes of everton, etc try to gazump us and eventually bump the price up. If it happens, and the links are tenuous at best, then I think we'll end up paying closer to £30mil
August 19, 20169 yr Ricardo Rodriguez is the best left back not presently at a top club. The price, even if 30 mln is peanuts in this market.
August 19, 20169 yr not seen much of him. come on expert compilation uploaders, bring out the YT highlight video.
August 19, 20169 yr I think many of us know him from Fifa and/or CM. Those valuations are pretty accurate although you shouldn't take them as facts and some of them are off. He certainly is a good player. Have seen him play against Bayern last season and for the Swiss in Euro's. If he was playing for Stoke or Everton he'd cost 50m.
August 19, 20169 yr why has no one ever moved for him? Holding out for a move to Bayern/Real Madrid/Barca perhaps... I'll be amazed if we sign him tbh, Arsenal can offer him CL. Edited August 19, 20169 yr by the special one
