what the hell was conte thinking taking off hazard and bringing in ivanovic under that situation?? Totally disagreed with that move.. thank goodness it didn't come back to bite us..

 

On players review, I have to say alonso was the worst in this game.. kante was all over the place but in a bad way, alonso just slightly edged him in that department.. Pedro wasn't that far off but he got wonder and important goal so he had a case to defend himself with.. I think someone need to restart again with luiz, he's getting loose by the match, need to tighten him up..

 

Man of the match should go to eiither matic or costa, they're both having the most positive impact in the game.. 

 

Lastly but not the least, a sweet victory because 1, we remain at the top and 2nd, once again we screwed up spurs by becoming the team who ended their unbeaten run.. haha..

Harry having a meltdown in the studio, embarrassing, he is right though only luiz can play out from the back under pressure 

Very poor first half, I was getting really worried. 3 points is 3 points, even better against spurs but we need to be better against city. 

My observations:

1) We seem to struggle against intense pressing.

2) Matic and Kante were sub-par and did not win the midfield like I expected. This just made Tottenham's pressing more effective.

3) Pedro's snapshot curler gave us a right shot in the arm and demoralised Tottenham. After the second half, we just went after them.

4) Much to my lack of surprise, Costa sucked the Spurs defenders out of shape and gave Moses an easy finish. 

5) Terrific management by Conte to rally the side, grab the second and then shut them out completely.

My suggestions against City:

They are a higher quality side than Tottenham in general and WILL press early. It is therefore important that we win the midfield battle. Being an away game, changing the formation to a slightly more defensive 3-5-2 to shore up the midfield and hitting Man City on the counterattack is probably the way to go. Guardiola is trying to play tiki-taka but Man City's players are not yet all that attuned or accomplished playing that style and it shows, with more misplaced passes and overall sloppier play. If we harass them aggressively enough, we will generate a number of counterattacking opportunities, I'm sure.   

I shat my pants when Ivan the terrible came on in the final few minutes, was sure we were going to concede. 

Anyways, we showed those white bar stewards what title contenders look like. Up the Chels!

jeez i knew the rivalry was hot in this derby, but didn't realise their fans had that much disdain towards us. i haven't seen a chelsea forum that talks the about our rivals in the same way some of our oppo fans do about us.
