Spurs? That game when we were completely overrun from start to finish? United he couldn't stop giving the ball away, if we hadn't won that game he would've been a scapegoat.

The only impressive thing Bakayoko done during the United match was run past their midfielders a few times, other than that he was highly frustrating, like I said if we never got the 3 points I know for a fine fact he would've been the biggest target for being so reckless in the final 3rd.

Dominated the midfield both games. Other than poor finishing his overall game was good.

Sell him when we get the chance too, dont dwell on it and give him another season for us. Price will go down again.

Wishful thinking. If we didn't do it for Batshuayi, we aren't gonna do it for Bakayoko.

I think the board took a calculated gamble on Batshuayi. Dortmund offered 40M, We wanted 50, which isn't out of the question considering his age and they way he was pouring in goals last year for Dortmund. Give him a year to rehabilitate his injury and he'll be worth 50m again... that's the thought anyway. He needs to be in a good place though, and that wasn't Valencia.

Bakayoko is going to get a full refund. Milan has an option of around 38M that I'll be shocked if they don't pick up. He was great again today.

He's getting a lot of praise and people keep posting videos showing these so called impressive performances, I'm not sure what I am supposed to be seeing that is so impressive though. I don't know if standards in Italy are really low, but a lot of what I am seeing of this in form Bakayoko is very basic.

There is nothing I am seeing from him that would change my mind about him. If clubs in Italy like the look of him though then maybe we can make back the money we spent on him.

Yup. That's best case. He's not coming back to Chelsea.

Putting in a tackle and initiating a counter doesn't make for exciting highlights, but when you don't have a DM putting in tackles it sure makes for a lot of highlights the other direction.

A good old fashioned stopper. In a system that uses one, he's playing really well right now, and good news for us is that Milan is almost sure to pick up his option.

I doubt he wouldnt make it in England. His playstyle is more english than spanish or Italian.

Today he was so good in Milan vs Genoa, that it wasn't even funny. Absolutely amazing player. He is great at everything apart from crosses. But at least he understands that so he never cross. I would say he is the best DM in Serie A right now.

Man of the match in four of his latest six performances in Serie A. And then he doesn't even have scored or assisted. He just is in beast mode in that midfield.

I do not understand how he could have done so badly in the premier league.

Do not ask him too much quality but right now is the best defensive midfielder of the Serie A, retrieves many balls, impossible to overcome, good tactically and takes all of head in midfield It reminds me a lot Marcel Desailly

Currently a beast !

Not much intensity in the Italian league, plenty of easier games/teams to play against, he won't be the first or last to flop in this league.

Well good to hear, when he came to the UK, we had an injury crisis in midfield and I don't think Conte worked out how to use him correctly so we only got glimpses of quality and while this was going on the crowd angst affected his composure on the ball. I get the feeling in Italy the crowds are not so close to the pitch.

Well I respect your opinion .. but I do not think that English football is more difficult than Italian .. otherwise it would not explain how many Itaiani coaches have managed to win.

But I can agree that maybe Bakayoko in an intensive game it can be more difficult to come out ,but yuo must judge as a midfielder to break the game and recover balls nothing else i  saw Chelsea fail a player like Shevchenko and now also Jorginho maybe it's just a down moment for the whole team.

In my opinion, today we label and evaluate a player from strong to poor too quickly , a player's performance can depend on many things and most of them when the whole team struggles to get results, even the performance of the individual drops.

Bakayoko at this moment he simply has faith from the fans of the coach and consequently also his own means so he's showing the best of himself , maybe at the end of the season we will talk differently becouse as I said we label and evaluate a player from strong to poor too quickly today ..

But hey if you really do not like this player you can give it to us for free xD

Difficult may be the wrong word, different is what I would go with. Some players thrive in different leagues. It's not that the league is weaker or worse, just different. Maybe this is why people think Bakayoko looks so good in Italy, it's because he is playing in a country that suits his attributes.

The guy had zero ball control when under pressure, in Italy you do not press rear midfielders.

ask Timmy !

It’s difficult to tell really, he was a beast in french league and he’s doing well in Serie A, if the excuse is that Serie A is sh*t, why did we even buy him in the first place? I imagine the French league is worse than Serie A?

In the end, I was right in saying that he had potential.

It is a shame that he's only realising that potential in the slower-paced Serie A environment.

Ultimately, was he just a moderately-talented player who just couldn't come to grips with the PL or Sarri's system? Or is his just a case off taking too little time to settle into the PL. Could he have been better with more easing into PL games?

I'd say Conte's system more than Sarri's system. He doesn't have a spot in Sarri's system. He came to Chelsea coming off of an injury, remember, that's what took so long to get done even though it seemed everything had been agreed upon for months.

But even then, this is a different role. I think the term Stopper went away a long time ago, but that's what he's doing now. Call it CDM, but compare Bakayoko's heat map in his MOTM performance against Genoa yesterday and Luiz's heat map against Arsenal, and they look an awful lot alike. Bakayoko is being asked to provide protection for the defense and initiate a counter. That was never his role at Chelsea. I'll state again since it sometimes gets lost, but he's not coming back to Chelsea, these good performances are good for Chelsea, because Milan is almost guaranteed to pick up his option, which for them around 35M will seem like a bargain.

Was he though? I remember people massively overrating him at the time. I thought he looked average at Monaco and was easily the worst player of that great season they had. It's why I never wanted us to sign him in the first place. I thought he was mediocre then and then he was terrible for us.

I wrote before .. Chelsea had a lot of expectations about him, but I think you make mistake, if you're looking for a player, with great ball and vision control then maybe Chelsea would never have to buy.

Did he bollocks, how can you dominate the midfield when you've got less of the ball?

Spurs battered us all game and Kane missed about 3 sitters, that was probably our jammiest game in ages where we managed to get the win thanks to Alonso's brilliance.

The United game he did nothing of significance but run past their midfield a few times, what did he do with the ball after that? Gave it away.

Look in the early pages of this thread, many weren't convinced by him, whenever I watched him play he was very average in a really promising team.

He looks awful in the Champions League also, I think we just bought into the hype, the fact that we didn't get Fabinho instead of Bakayoko was almost as bad as sitting out on Aguero and getting Torres.

This is a strange argument... let's see if I can settle this...

Bakayoko wasn't very good at Chelsea... Chelsea wasn't happy
Bakayoko is very good at AC Milan.. AC Milan is Happy
AC Milan is going to buy Bakayoko... Chelsea is Happy, Bakayoko is happy, AC Milan is happy.. theShed bickers...

I think I got that right...
