Tiémoué Bakayoko

Featured Replies

If he is a Matic replacement for the tough games then I'm ok with it. Can't see him being a downgrade, he's better in air and more agile. Plus at 22, he has enormous upside. Definitely reminds me of a young Yaya. I'm excited to see how Conte could develop him. Remember he brought the best from a very raw pogba.

So long as we keep Cesc we still have a world class cm grouping. Love to see chalo and baker stay in the squad too. Baker adds another style in the mix.

Prefer not to sell Utd a solid player though, unless we rinse 45m+ off them.

theres a reason conte has been scouting him since november, he sees something special in the kid

As of right now bakoyoko is still a bit raw but im certain  antonio will turn him into a dominant force

I'm not massively excited by this transfer but Conte must see something. Plus it might push Matic out of the door, so every cloud does have a silver lining i suppose.

Tbf, I was not AT ALL excited by our transfers for the last 2 windows: Pedro, Hector, Papy, Baba, Alonso, Luiz, Michy, KAnte.

Except for Kante, most looked like good/average players and the board's as well as the scouting seemed ineffective. But Conte has got the best out of 3 of them (pedro, luiz, Alonso), sold the great Papy for a profit.

Michy is the only one on whom the judgement is still out and I doubt Michy was a Conte buy.

In short, so far, all of Conte's buys have been brilliant for Conte (alonso, Luiz, Kante). So i will give him the all the benefit of doubt. He has deserved it.

Exactly the point. The players before being bought weren't anything that special (aside from Kante) but the genius of Conte prevailed and he managed to get the best out of players that we would have never expected. Apart from the transfers mentioned, he also got the best out of a player like Moses.

I have faith in Conte that he'll turn Bako into a beast

Omg. Read what I said. I said the pairing would be limited. No attacking threat whatsoever and limited ability on the ball.

If you mean attacking threat based on goals and assist's then yes but Bakayoko very much offers attacking threat and what he brings is something we have missed this season. The ability to drive/bulldoze the ball forward 25 plus yards to speed up an attack is a hugely, hugely underrated weapon in football (Dembele for Spurs has the same trait).

He may not get many goals and assist's himself but he will be a key reason the team will.

For those worried about the potential attacking threat, or lack there of, need I remind us all that Conte transformed Kante into a player who was vital to our counter-attack/attacking abilities. i.e. the goal against West Ham. Now, I am not comparing Baka and Kante whatsoever, I am just suggesting the possibilities of improvement under a manager like Conte.  Baka might not be slamming screamers into the back of the net, but a ball-winnning/controlling midfielder, with the help of Conte, could prove vital to our midfield. (Especially with the inconsistency of Matic)

With someone like Fabregas on the pitch, ability on the ball would not be a huge concern. Where as if it was Baka and Kante together, that would be quite the stalwart of a midfield.  Multiple options for depth and different games.  I think it would be a quality signing.

Admittedly I'm starting to come round to the idea of Bakayoko, but only if we sign Tolisso too (Tolisso would be an replacement for Matic whilst allowing Bakayoko to just focus on being a DM?)

                      Tibo
Mere - Luiz - van Dijk
    Conti       Bakayoko       Alonso
              Kante - Tolisso
                Hazard
                      Diego

Musonda, Batshuayi, money only for Bakayoko?

I really hope we won't do that.

Musonda sold with a buy back clause. Batshuayi on loan. Bakayoko price knocked down.

I would love that actually. I'm excited at what Jardim could turn Musonda into. We all know the lad has bags of talent. We'd get the option of buying him back if he turns into a world beater and is needed here.

We don't lose Batshuayi either.

Win-win for everyone involved.

I was just about to post when I heard about the Musonda swap deal.

I think ideally we could swap Musonda (definitely with a buy back clause) and loan Bats too and in turn we get Bakoyoko. The only hiccup i've seen so far is that we've overvalued Musonda and Monaco arent too happy with it.

Also, im not sure if its a good idea to loan out bats, because then we only really have Costa, and he might leave. Only should be loaning out bats if we buy another striker

That's what's holding up the whole thing. It'll be wrapped up eventually.

Also, I think it's fairly certain that we're going to get a striker.

Yeah exactly, we really need Tolisso as soon as possible.

I was thinking that, but outside of Lukaku, everyone else we've been linked to has already decided on their future. Morata is going AC, Aubameyang to PSG

A frenchman on another board has said it's unlikely to be done because of this.  He mentioned Bakayoko's inconsistency and likened him to Kongdobia!  He also said Tolisso has a history in the past of being a bit of a locker room problem, getting in fights with teammates, etc.  But the superior talent for sure.

Tolisso does have a bit of a temper. But nothing Conte can't handle. Don't forget we currently have an extremely bipolar man starting at CF.

Also, third parties are quite common in France and more so in Monaco. We'd face the same difficulties trying to sign almost any Monaco player. I don't think Chelsea will want to pull out after coming this far. After all, we've signed players from Brazil where it's far worse.

Noises are we are going to pull the plug here cause we are frustrated at how complicated the negotiations are becoming. Why are they complicated for us yet city are on the verge of signing 2 Monaco players I wonder?

RLC defense is cr** from what I've seen of him, even chalobah defense is a bit flimsy. If RLC did defend well he'd be in the team more often.

Back to the subject of this thread Bakayoko is not as good as Matic in my view. He's as slow as a wet week and less energy than matic.

We do need to bring some younger guys into the team but we need better than him. I think Ake will be a starter next season but noone else from the young guns is an obvious starter

Naigolan has been good this season, not just the goals but also he's covered a lot of ground for Roma, I've seen them quite often. Still I agree he is too old to build the team around.

We need another player of hazards quality, maybe 2, not hazards themselves, so to speak, but of equal stature. One in midfield and one wide player. The search goes on.

Re. your last paragraph, I wouldn't mind Douglas Costa at the Bridge. Pacy, tricky and tenacious.

L'euipe are reporting that we have agreed a 40m euro deal with Monaco for Bakayoko...the player is on his way to London to agree personal terms and have a medical...time to wheel out the "it's happening" gif...
