June 10, 20179 yr was just about to say, i'm getting bored with all the costa/conte nonsense and would like us to focus on transfers incoming and bam! see, a few weeks ago it was rumoured and then we pounce and it's almost done. i much prefer our business to be like this than rumour, rumour, rumour, nothing. who cares if it means people getting impatient. June 10, 20179 yr Just the type of deal i like. Not so much money for a young gun, who is already ready to play for a big team and can still improve a lot. I still think we need 1 more world class midfielder like Corentin Tolisso.
June 10, 20179 yr I would've preferred Tolisso, but I have faith in conte. Hopefully he turns bakayoko into a world class partner fir kante.
June 10, 20179 yr I have only seen him 6-7 times in the CL last season but I must say he didn't impress me at all. Awkward would be the best way to describe what I saw. Granted, he's young, tall and there must be something about him that made our scouts decide he's got what it takes to be a success at Chelsea but so far I struggle to see what it is.
June 10, 20179 yr Good signing, would have preferred Tolisso. Hopefully, Conte can turn him into a better player
June 10, 20179 yr If the club signs Bakayoko and announce his arrival in early July when the transfer window opens, I will be mightily surprised. Until that happens, I still don't believe the board can get transfers done early and especially if they are the manger's first choices.
June 10, 20179 yr Seems like the end for Matic then...with Kante and Chalobh there's little room for another defensive midfielder...personally I would have prefered Tolliso as he's more of the box to box goal scoring midfielder that's missing from our squad...though RLC can do that role given a chance...let's hope that he's Conte's signing and he can make him into a Chelsea superstar... June 10, 20179 yr In my opinion, he is an improvement to Matic. He has a better technique with the ball, he is faster, he is better in the air, he also can dribble forward. He is a good DM to keep the possession, looks like Conte really wants him, then I trust Conte. My only problem is, if we will sign Bakayoko and Tolisso, what are the chances for RLC, Chalobah, Baker to success here? We still have Fabregas, Matic ( who probably is going to be sold ) and it's hard to see them getting in that rotation. I really hope we won't give on this trio, they're all talented and can do the job for us.

This is the same board that signed kante, fabregas, and costa, all early doors, so I don't see why you would be surprised of we got a couple this season. Last season was a tricky one, the club were in a poor position to attract players. 2015 was obviously the one really poor one, where we identified targets, didn't get them, and didn't have a back up plan. I can feel the nerves on the forum about signings, but you can't really judge yet. There's still plenty of time to get deals done in time for pre season.

I think Bakayoko is more similar to RLC than Tolisso. Tolisso would have given the midfield a mix of everything whereas Bakayoko is a rich man's Matic

He was not so impressive against Juve however against two big English teams, he was good. City had a good game and against Spurs he was outstanding home and away. Monaco also played Arsenal the season before and knocked them out and he completely dominated in the game at the Emirates in which Monaco shocked Arsenal.

June 10, 20179 yr I don't believe bakayoko is faster, better on the ball or more penetrating than Matic. He may be stronger. Wouldn't be my choice but amazingly I've been wrong before.

Still got age on his side. Bakayoko was very good against Spurs and City though. Someone also said that when PSG lost to Monaco 3-1 earlier in the season, he completely dominated Verratti and co. I like what I have seen from him and he is a lot better on the ball then I thought and is only 22.
June 10, 20179 yr He may not be to everyone's tastes, but considering the stupid prices you see these days, £35m is actually not too bad for a player with great potential working under Conte
June 10, 20179 yr So a fair percentage on here say he is inferior to matic and the guy from lyon would be better, add that to lukaku being a "downgrade" on Costa and it sounds like we are going backwards....

I know it was pre-season but I was sure I saw him play against Arsenal. It was the Emirates cup couple seasons ago I think when Falcao scored. Monaco won 1-0 however he was best player on pitch for me by a mile. Just dominated Arsenal's midfield. 41 minutes ago, axman2526 said: So a fair percentage on here say he is inferior to matic and the guy from lyon would be better, add that to lukaku being a "downgrade" on Costa and it sounds like we are going backwards.... I am sure people said the same when Moses, Alonso and Luiz were put in the team. Where did we finish? Trust Conte.

Fair enough, I thought you were referring to the Champs League game where Arsenal was knocked out. Didn't watch the Emirates Cup. Here's to hoping he'll be more like Wanyama or Dembele than post-2015 Matic
