That's if we bid that high.  It's a monumental fee, and we know how tight the board can be at times.

Have we even made a bid though? All this talk in the papers for weeks and weeks, but nothing about an actual bid. It's like Lukaku, we were linked for ages, but the only time we were ever actually reported to have made a bid, was at the last minute.

I think the club needs to see how much we can get from Costa.

If we add in Diego at 40 and assume we actually want to progress not just break even spending another 100 million shouldn't really be a problem

Problem is 100m is only going to get us 2 players at most if we want to land Sandro as one of those players.  Only leaves 30-40m left which in this day and age will probably get you a Danny Drinkwater.

I think what happens a lot nowadays is there tends to be a lot of 'backdoor' negotiation through the players/clubs intermediaries such as agents and other representatives. No official bid would have been made but I imagine there would have been a lot of talking to get a feel for the general interest of the player and a rough estimate of what price the player would be available at. 

At the moment it doesn't look like it's going anywhere so I imagine we'd need to step it up a gear soon; make some more noise in the press or put in an official bid to get things moving properly.

You forgot about Costa.  Throw in the Oscar money and we can afford 2 top quality players and a couple of decent backup players with change to spare.

We won the league last season, Nike Deal and with TV money we should have more than enough to spend even without player sales.

 

 

I'm getting on the Dalbert hype. This guy will be the next Sandro in a year or 2 if he goes to Inter, let's get in on him before his price sky rockets.

You would think that 

apparently Chelsea made 152.8million pounds in tv rights,prize money and games being aired alone.

not to include the new nike deal worth 60 million a year.

plus player transfer sales as mentioned of around 150million since Jan 2017.

Plus we are in this years champions league so that will generate income for the end of this upcoming season.

 

we have the money. Just spend it ffs and get the job done.

On one hand yes teh player has a choice on the other hand the club can refuse to sell him to a rival like Man U if they want to direct him towards Juve, in the end the club owns the players services during the contracted term, if they don't want to sell him to Man U they wont no matter how badly he want's to go, that's a club decision not player, hence cech asked for permission to go to Arsenal.
