But deep down, I think we all know that he's not a truly world class defender is he? He's excelling in this system, what happens if Tuchel goes? He's clearly messing about with the contract, we should tell him to be reasonable or f*ck off. Given he was wrongly made a villain for Lamps getting sacked I am glad to see he is getting a good reaction from the match going fans. Hopefully that remains and we have a successful season together before he heads off to Paris.
September 22, 20214 yr Pep continues to take pot shots at Toni over the KDB injury: https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12414073/pep-guardiola-many-potential-players-in-man-city-academy-adebayo-akinfenwa-a-legend Hopefully we shove it in his face this weekend.
September 22, 20214 yr https://www.teamtalk.com/news/chelsea-bittersweet-news-antonio-rudiger-contract-bayern-munich-transfer A few sites have this story circulating that although teams have contacted Toni, including Bayern he has informed them as of now he is currently more interested in staying with us. What this tells me is its purely up to the club, either they think he's worth committing £200k a week to or not. As I've said before to avoid the scenario where we get stuck with him for a long-term deal and may not want that just offer a 2-3 year extension surely that's a win win for everybody, with the view to review and evaluate closer to the finishing period.

The problem is teams can offer him 200k with 4 or 5 years. I just hope he doesn't go to Bayern. I am beginning to hate those German c**ts. They tapped up Odoi and are the primary reason why his career as stagnated with all that hype too soon, they also stole Musiala from our youth set up.
September 23, 20214 yr He has said he won't won't rushed and it is the most important deal of his career: https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/chelsea-fc-transfer-rumours-news/2021/9/23/22689801/rudiger-wont-rush-into-contract-decision-as-bayern-munich-also-register-interest Basically I take from that he will want to hear all the offers he has and talk to managers himself, as allowed, in Jan about what his role would be as well as about money.

Can’t have players doing that though, an offer has been on the table for 2yrs now. I would look for a replacement in Jan & sell him.
September 23, 20214 yr The longer he waits the more money he'll get, he just needs to hope that he doesn't get injured. With us playing 3 CBs and Silva being 37, he doesn't have anything to worry about even if we sign Kounde.
September 23, 20214 yr If he leaves he will forever be saying to himself "what it could of been" and "i threw it all away". How do i know ? Ask the best ever player to wear the Chelsea shirt.

September 24, 20214 yr His demands are ridiculous but I also hope him and the board can meet the middle ground. He’s been so vital for us and I hope he doesn’t leave this way.
September 25, 20214 yr This "most important deal of his career" stuff is all a load of nonsense ... unless he is incredibly bad with money, he is already made for life financially, and probably the next two generations of his family as well. He either wants to play for Chelsea or he doesn't. The club aren't exactly bad payers when it comes to player wages. Hopefully all this Bayern, Juve, £400K a week bollocks is just click bait in the media, or his agent scum going fishing.
September 25, 20214 yr 12 months ago we would have sold him, granted he has proved himself to be a key player for us, there's no breaking bank to keep him. If there's a 400k a week offer waiting for him, good luck and take it. Put money aside, he's not going to get a better team to play for.
September 25, 20214 yr I suppose the issue with Rüdiger, and this is assuming that Tuchel's long-term plan is to stick with a back three (which all of our transfer activity since he arrived suggests that it is), is that we don't have a alternative to him on the left side of the three who fits in naturally. He is our only specialist at left centre-back. This isn't true of any other 'defensive' roles in the back five: On the right we have Azpilicueta, Christensen, Chalobah or at a push, James; In the middle we have Christensen or Silva; At right wing-back we have James, Azpilicueta or Hudson-Odoi (maybe Chalobah); At left wing-back we have Chilwell or Alonso. We've seen how awkward it is to fill the role whenever we've tried to rest Rüdiger or he's been unavailable. The default was an uncomfortable-looking Zouma, but I remember us trying Emerson (of all people) once in the cup. Early days for Malang Sarr, but my initial suspicion is that he's nowhere near good enough. I suppose this is the roundabout way of saying that Rüdiger is very important in our current setup, and is in a very good position negotiation-wise. His isn't a role that can currently be filled from within the squad. If he leaves, he will need to be replaced by another specialist. As an addendum, you really do have to give the guy credit. It was less than a year ago that we were on the verge of binning him off. Now he's a European Cup winner and a nailed-on starter.

They're both right sided players but the biggest lack of depth is on the left.

Clubs like Real, PSG can offer huge wages. If that is what he wants, fair play to him is his career to do with as he sees fit.
September 26, 20214 yr Rudi saying all the right things and showing to be a leader in the group: https://weaintgotnohistory.sbnation.com/2021/9/26/22694006/rudiger-questions-chelseas-personality-physicality-warns-no-one-is-irreplaceable Shame we are likely losing his personality more than anything else at the end of the season. He seems to have become quite a leader.
October 3, 20214 yr Has become a real fan favorite, can hear that from our crowd. Real shame he is on his way in the summer.
