If Rudiger is indeed Conte's choice, I offer no objection whatsoever.  Just that his performances at Roma hasn't been exactly top notch from what I have seen and recall.

By the way, do post more often.  Your posts are almost always a good read.

Surely rudiger and bakayoko this week....has to be.....right?

By this stage who knows... we may sign someone of note around the same week Jesus makes his second appearance before Armageddon.

Watch him fail his medical with some rare obscure problem knowing our window

:laugh2:

Maybe not a rare problem, but failing it due to his knee injury isn't entirely out of the question.

I think he made 40 appearances for Roma last season and just player for Germany against Chile so you would assume he will pass the medical

Agreed, just stating that it is possible they find something there.

Unless it's happened recently I think before a club sends a player out on international with an injury they will do a thourough check and give notes and recommendations to the national team and also so they say look we are handing him over  in this condition, for accountability, a player is an investment.  Fifa introduced a rule for the 2014 World Cup about compensation, if players are injured during international duty, then the players salary is covered by the association rather than the club, existing injuries are not covered, so if they are keen to prove the player is fully fit and healed more reason for such a check-up before leaving for international duty.

I don't know much about this guy but am a bit surprised we are after a centre back when that's probably the position we least need to strengthen

We have Cahill, Luiz, Azpilicueta, Christensen, and Zouma.  Christensen reportedly is up for sale, and Zouma is said to be going on loan.  That leaves 3 CBs, unless I'm completely forgetting somebody.

Not at all. We can improve a lot. I think Conte wants better ball players there. Rudiger improves that and he has great legs on him. He can do much of the things Luiz can. I still think Luiz is better all round player but he is the best in the prem so don't worry Antonio.

This is a key point rudiger is good on the ball garry isn't people say he is ok because they think ok means he can pass, it's a lot more than that, he isn't what you would call a ball playing CB by any means, where he lacks pace and ball playing ability rudiger has both, that's why I said he gives us something different especially the power and pace he is the right sort of player, not quite as good as Koulibaly but the potential to be, Garry of course has bags of experience and is consistent and a leader but in rudiger we are certainly getting a player in the mound of what conte is after.

I was against signing a CD, but we did lose JT, and Cahill/Luiz are in the 30s, it  maybe time to start planning for the future. Azpi was great, but at times he was troubled due to his height and strength, so someone like Rudiger would be a nice alternative in those away games against long ball teams with big CFs. Zouma/Christensen should have a future with us, but there are doubts whether they are ready for the CL and title defence.

It's a good move if we manage to sign him.

Personal terms nearly agreed according to Sky sports. I am still kinda surprised Bayern have not jumped in for him. They like snapping up good young German players.

They already beat us to signing Sule from Schalke. I think they've completed their token German CB signing already.

Apparently he said 'my heart beats for Arsenal' well that's a shame, pull the plug Chels, we'll be having none of that p!sh:Connie_threaten:

We cured Cole and Fabregas of that disease, i'm sure we can do the same for Rudiger.

Is Rudiger a definite improvement on Cahill?

In terms of pure class perhaps, but there's going to be some knock-on psychological effect from not having your captain / experienced champion in the starting 11.

My guess is Rudiger pushes Azpi into RWB and Moses onto the bench. In that situation, it would still be unwise to let both Zouma and Christensen go.
