Why not, they got Matic off us and we will return the favour with Shaw. Jose never backed him, while we desperately need covers, make sense.

Remember how Arsenal almost loaned Ba then he put a stop to it once Ozil iirc went to Arsenal? He's a massive d for any opposition.

Unless he knows that there isn't a chance that Shaw will come good

Dont worry. According to him KDB/Lukaku/Salah etc etc were not going to come good. So we have a decent opportunity.

News doing the rounds today that he may be available for 20m, I cant se Jose and or Utd selling him to a rival anyway and if I was Shaw, id go somewhere where I would be first choice ASAP, if he wants to be on the plane to Russia in the summer, he has to have a big end to the season.

Make sense to bid for him, we way over worked Alonso this season. What happened to Baba, has he been sold? Kennedy was meant to be on loan, so if Alonso is out we are screwed. Being Jose, he'd probably do a swap deal for Rose, instead of taking our money.

10-12m is the most I'd pay. But we should have Baba back from injury by Jan, so might be easier to just use him.

apparently one of the fittest on their team though, so jut think it's his build.

Don't think so, anyone who trains like a professional footballer should be in peak physical condition with roughly a 10-12% bodyfat. I reckon it's his diet that isn't in check. I'm sure he'd still outrun me even if his diet consisted solely of coke and deep fried mars bars though.

Lampard and Rooney always looked bigger throughout their careers. We have no way of knowing Shaw's body fat. If anyone can get the best out of him, it'd be Conte. Certainly worth a punt for 20m.

Absolutely, I'd take him for 20m, not many other homegrown left backs as good as him that would go for that price

won't happen as we now have Emerson, but would be love to have him and Alonso as our wing back options.

just watched the Mourinho press conference too, can't remember Jose ever being as harsh to a player before

Shaw had his chance to join club he supported a few years ago but took Utd's cash instead...big mistake and no room for him at the Bridge now.

If we can get him on free, it would make sense for both parties.

Ironically it was Mourinho, a Chelsea manager at the time, who criticized him for being motivated by money first.

I've often wondered if it is because Shaw snubbed joining Jose at Chelsea that Mourinho has treated him so harshly at United?

Nah, Mourinho wouldn't be that petty would he...

It's funny if you believe the narrative that we sought to buy Shaw, Stones and Barkley to replace Cole, Terry and Lampard.

None of the three are anywhere near that level. At the moment Shaw and Barkley just struggle to get on the park.

I think Shaw still has a lot to give, he's a Chelsea supporter so always willing to provide the benefit of the doubt. We'll see how Emerson progresses.

It's obvious, Shaw is an unfunny raconteur at society soirees chez Mourinho, probably passed the port the wrong way or called it a toilet instead of a lavatory.

OR, he said something salacious and inappropriate about Jose's daughter's choice of eye make-up one time.

Got to be a personal dislike, can't honestly be anything to do with Mourinho's opinion of the lad's attitude, aptitude or ability, can it?

He's known to have firm views on what he wants from his players yb. Not alwsyd to do with ability either. Glen Johnson, Scott Parker, de Bruyne and others fell foul of it here.

Not saying he is wrong on this occassion but once he has a set on you,  you're done.

Mourinho loves to get rid of fantastic talent because they won't play in his 10 at the back formation correctly. If he wants rid we should snatch him up. Will only be a year or two before he's prime A.Cole reincarnate.
