Where would we have finished if Morata’s and Batshuayi’s roles had been reversed?

Reversed since January ? Well i am pretty sure Michy would have scored a few goals for us since January, how many did Morata score in that time ? So if it was reversed back then, and Michy was made first choice, Giroud and Morata fighting it out for the crumbs, then i would have put money on us making the top four.

But then you regularly used to put money on the Welsh girls not dropping her chips while you serviced her from behind at the bus stop.

Nope, why only January? The whole season counts.

It would have been crazy to drop Morata in January to keep Batshuayi, when Morata had been playing well for the most part and Batshuayi had done nothing to indicate that he was ready to start for us.

Playing well ? I think we'll leave it there dave.

Where would we have finished if Morata’s and Batshuayi’s roles had been reversed? It’s impossible to say. Morata did well for us up until December, so based on Batshuayi’s history for *us*, we could well have ended up lower than 5th.

I think Batshuayi would have struggled, he probably would have scored more than Morata though. Batshuayi is a good striker, but he doesn't suit Conte's system at all.

Going by Batmans history we would have had 5 months of Hazard playing up front.

Yeah. He had an excellent start and looked decent until December. Then he got suspended/injured and never regained his form/confidence, but we were also playing sh*t football so I'm inclined to cut him some slack.

I saw someone propose we offer Morata to Milan for Icardi + cash i think it was 20-30M range. How would we feel about that? I'm not holding my breath and do not expect to happen in the slightest, but its always fun to consider and think things like that this time of year, and then get unnecessarily and unrealistically upset when it doesn't happen.

Personally, I would love for us to give Morata another year and see how he does this season before just abandoning all hope and selling him.

Pathetic season for him. Started well in 2017 but then his confidence and mentality crumbled. Was wrong about him, thought he had what it takes to go to the next level.

Would give him a chance next season but if he wants out then fine. We need players with more grit and character

The thing with Morata is that when all is said and done there has been nothing in his performances to break the cycle that he has been in whereby big clubs splash out on him, only for him to fail to deliver on a consistent basis and to fall down the pecking order. I think Giroud has been good for us but if Giroud had been a bit more mobile Morata would have been a permanent sub throughout, just like his previousu clubs.

Ship him out, can we, while he's still worth around 60m (minus 15 million) we squandered on him ! If he repeats that garbage of the season next year, his value will drop by at least 20-25 million.

There's a reason RM were so willing to offload him, relying entirely on an ageing 32-year Ronaldo and a 29-year Karim Benzema who divides opinions.

His first touch is sub-standard, finishing is abysmal, composure in front of the goal is very poor and body-strength in one-to-one challenges is pitiable. How do all these essential strikers' traits change at 26 years of age ?

High-profile swaps hardly ever happen in football. When was the last big one? How many have there been in the last 15 years?

That scenario of Morata + 30 million = Icardi is purely hypothetical, but even then, I'd take it in a heartbeat. Won't even think twice.

No one in their right senses would buy Morata for anything above 40-45 million even in these inflated times. We've already taken a hit of 15 million approx.

The sooner we sell, the better are our chances of recouping that 60 million outlay on him.

Mkhi for Sanchez?

You're far too harsh on him coco, I get it he's pissed a lot of people off because he hasn't been what we expect in the first season, but the vendetta is getting silly.

Like when he scored in the semi-final against to make it 2-0 against Southampton, who looked very close to equalising, you said something "Morata celebrating like he's won the World Cup", it's like the bloke can't do any good in your eyes. I'll even admit he's been sh*t this season, but I won't deny that he was very good at the start of the season.

I can't remember it was something along those lines but I thought it was harsh when I saw it.

But out of curiosity what striker should we go for now if we are to get rid of Morata?

Calling Morata a striker is stretching it a bit.

Let's leave it up to the manager to pick his replacement, instead of being fooled by the RM trademark, we may get someone who can actually score with his feet.

I just went and read what i said when he scored against Southampton in the semi. I thought he held up his fingers to say "2-1" to the crowd after he scored, so i said "Someone tell Morata it's 2-0".

It's nowhere near "Morata celebrating like he's won the World Cup" ?

My bad then, I thought you were saying he's over celebrating or something at the time, so as in "he's celebrating like he has won the World Cup" or Champions League whatever, I didn't know it was about his gesture.

I can understand that, seeing as i have been slating him at every opportunity, of which he has provided plenty of.
