Alvaro Morata

Featured Replies

I think we will get our money back easily if we let him go, getting a proper replacement will be the challenge. Put in a buy back clause just for the sake of it, he has plenty of years in him, won't be surprised at all if one our our rivals pick him up in a few years time.

Good riddance. Giroud, Bats and Tammy should be enough to hold down the fort before we find another forward next summer.

Nope.

That forward line is powder puff. We would struggle for top 4 with those options.

If Morata goes then we need a replacement and a top striker at that.

I thought at the time we got one over on United when we got Morata over Lukaku but clearly we took the wrong option.

We struggled for top 4 WITH Morata and two of those three. So what's the difference? Other areas need addressing even though striker is the glamorous position. Giroud is a capable goalscorer and Bats seems to be as well if he's given the right style to play with. I'd love to buy Griezmann or Kane too but that ain't happening.

Improvements elsewhere shouldn't require the team to need 25 goals from 1 forward.

Morata was doing well at the start of the season but after a few months downed tools but let's remember he still scored winning goals against the likes of United which were the difference.

There is a clear difference of a strikeforce with and without Morata so I honestly can't point that out to you because it is pretty simple to understand I'd have thought.

Look at any of our title winning seasons and you will see each one we had a leading forward scoring goals......

You want Giroud to lead the line? That is ridiculous, there is a reason he was 3rd choice at Arsenal and they got rid of him once they got Aubameyang. He is a decent option as a 3rd choice forward, but would never score enough goals and would limit our attacking play.

If he can soldier on and get back that form before December, he might just fulfill his potential. No more faffing about, no more petty ref squabbles and no more dropping to the floor after a light touch

either Sarri spoke to him and made him change his mind... or chelsea talked to him and told him to put that out so clubs thinks he wants to stay and we don't lose any money on his sale... or, the most likely option, the usually reliable david amoyal was wrong and shouldn't have listened to whoever told him that

Staying?

I mean, glad he’s saying the right things here, but actions speak louder than words.  If he comes back, let’s hope he backs up this statement with some strong play.

Yes there is a difference; we're better off in the long term and arguably the short term. You mention United but how many points could we have had if Morata takes even half his 1v1 chances? For every point he saved he left one on the table.

As someone just mentioned, how long do you want someone who cant finish simple chances at a good rate leading your line?

He scored 15+ every season he was at Arsenal. Not bad for being 3rd choice. Morara had how many as our 1st choice this season? By the way, he was 3rd choice at Arsenal and what did they win? It's not like you can justify them keeping him on the bench because they were so successful that way. He has a good goalscoring record when you consider how many of his appearances were subs.

I don't want Giroud leading the line full time. I suggest the three I mentioned split time depending on the variables of each match. Each one has their strengths and personally I think all three would be better with 65m extra improving the team around them than Morata playing 50 matches.

Morata wasn't our first choice though, Marina f**ked up the Lukaku deal.

How do you know that?

Because you and i have literally 0 connection to the clubs hierarchy. Unless, you have something you want to tell us? However i imagine you have just read newspaper headlines and pieced together an opinion with 0 facts.

Reading newspapers headlines, twitter etc is where us fans get our information from, and then we have opinion on that. Thats why the next chelsea manager thread is 102 pages and counting which im sure you have posted on. Saying Marina messed is the deal is hardly an outrageous claim. Not sure why you get aggressive over it.
