Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

It's going to be a long season of Jorginho discussions again isn't it 😅

That's what I'm wondering about you.

So you ramble about random stuff? What a way to communicate...

When you get someone suggesting that Italy and Chelsea won their titles because of Jorginho, yes, it's going to be a looong season.

I'm not rambling, I'm responding to your suggestion that Italy and Chelsea won their titles because of him saying that he's not a game changer. If you can't comprehend what others write, it's not their communication skills.

You're rambling, look back at what you wrote... Nobody is comparing Jorginho to Pele LOL someone said it's difficult to vote for Jorginho so I simply said who is that other player that took part in the most recent titles and the answer is nobody so he as a player that contributed to the recent titles is getting some votes by default because you won't find another player that was a key player in these big wins.

And you're not comprehending what I wrote. Read it again, think about what you keep posting about Jorginho and try to understand what I mean.

I'm not interested in your comparison between Pele and Jorginho...

He should be in strong contention for UEFA player of the year surely, he's the only player to win all 3 top UEFA trophies. (Apart from Emerson but he didn't play as much)

You obviously haven't grasped what I was saying, so I'll leave it there.

Like I said, I'm not interested.

Modric won it by being the best player for both rm and Croatia. If Jorginho is at least the 2nd most important player for both italy and us, he will and should win balon dor

He wasn't the best player for Real Madrid, Ronaldo was by far. He got robbed that year. If anything Modric winning it that year is the strongest argument for Jorginho deserving it this year

When he came on last night the first thing he did was started to close down one of their centre backs who had the ball and he similtaniously pointed to two other opposition players telling team mates what to do.

As soon as he started pointing I would be lying if I didn't admit it bought a smile to my face.

He has his faults and his bad games but man he's proper won me over.

Was the most dominant player in La Liga and Copa America, winning the latter and lost the league in spite of his efforts. He will win the Ballon d'Or at a canter, given the results are heavily weighted towards international competition.

Lewandowski shouldn't be anywhere near the conversation. He is a wonderful player but scoring 40 goals in a league where defending is optional at best is not an achievement on the scale of the other three.

Jorginho is there because he is a meme. Emblematic of the modern football hipster, where football is played in hypotheticals and internet debate rather than actual things happen on a field.

The La Liga record is a norm for him. Argentina did not flop for a change in a mostly 2 occasionally 3 team tournament.

For me he lost a lot of respectability in making the choice to switch his allegencies to Qatar when he could have taken on real challenges instead of going for money only.

2018 Modric can do anything Jorgi can and a lot more. Comparing them is as mad as saying Ronaldo was better than him by far.

He cried and was super sad and then the very next day all happy and excited to be in Paris and said something like that club matches him or something like that. I read that Mbappe doesn't want to play with him, not sure why would someone make that stuff up, how come Neymar that went just to not be in his shadow is totally fine I mean that makes Mbappe a big diva so if by any chance they get knocked out of the CL early it's going to be a full meltdown there.

For the record I don't think anyone can compete with Messi because the bias towards that 1 won Copa America final in like 4 tries where he actually just watched Di Maria and I-forgot-his-name making the winning goal, is too strong. Though maybe this move to PSG hinders him a bit if let's say La Liga tries to tell the Uefa guys to pick anyone else but the best La Liga player in history that just left them in order to stop the bleeding for a second...

No coincidence we regained control of the midfield after he came on yesterday. Extremely underrated and I think he's one of the first names on the teamsheet for Tuchel.

I thought we lost our shape and control of the game when him and Christensen came on.

The team looked like it was struggling and sloppy passing and sitting too deep led to the equaliser.

Dave and Mount came on and we started to look a little better but it was a big ask for those players returning from the Euros to play their first football during a final.

This thread should have a "abandon hope all ye who post here" warning the 1st time they come into it 😅

I like reading all the divergent opinions. Jorginho's skillset is truly intangible. I like him, can't avoid thinking we can improve on him, but also can't say for sure who would improve us a team (besides my Billy tinted glasses). Anyone who comes, regardless of the quality, would change the whole dynamic of the team and I wouldn't know if it's for the best.

Agree with you, the game changer for me was Azpi. After that change we regained control and could have won it before penalties. Does that mean that Jorginho played badly? No. But he was not the game changer and we did not control the game after he came on as some say. In fact, they scored almost 10 minutes after Jorginho came on.

Before the first half ended Villarreal hit the bar that by pure luck bounced away from the goalline and as soon as the second half started we lost control, minute 54' Mendy deflects a shot and it hits the post, saves another shot 10 minutes later and finally they score after minute 70' from the side of Kovacic and not Jorginho. That's a nice stretch you did there, trying to find a way to correlate Jorginho and Mount coming on and Villarreal scoring, please stick to comparing midfielders to Pele and Maradona it really suits you.

He's on the Ballon D'Or shortlist - let's not pretend he's some unique flower that the rest of the world just can't appreciate

It sounds more like an assumption based on people's fantasy that Jorginho dictates the tempo and recycles possession, rather than opinion based on watching the game.

It is strange that Jorginho is considered as tempo setter since he always slow down our tempo.  🤔🤔

You really have a problem comprehending other people’s posts. Did I say we lost control of the game due to Jorginho? No. Did I said he did play well? Yes. But he was not key in regaining control of the midfield or of the game. Go back to school basics and learn how to read and understand what people say. Oh! And stop imposing your crap statistics and Jorginho fundamentalist material over the rest of us who can think for ourselves and don’t drool over him.
