Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

A lot of it is up to Tuchel. Jorginho is a player that gets the trust but Lukaku is a top striker. I think that Lukaku being left-footed also adds to his penalties in a positive way but he just came to the club so it's all about keeping everyone happy. Lukaku didn't miss any penalty in recent times so that's like an argument there for Lukaku but Jorginho missed just a few in his whole career. It's on paper just a smaller detail but if we get a penalty I don't want to see our players taking the ball from each other like it already happen under Lampard once so things need to be clear, either Jorginho stays as the designated penalty taker or Lukaku is given that role.

If Lukaku is going for some golden boot award, taking penalties can help him to reach it, he could very well end up being the top striker in the league but if he's not scoring for us as much as we hoped he could request to take penalties in order to boost his stats a bit. As long as he scores goals it's good enough for me.

Havertz and Werner are also excellent at penalties. Havertz hasn't missed one inside 90mins, in his entire professional career to date. Squabbling over penalties isn't new, Drogba and Ballack argued over them on more than one occasion.

came in and immediately steadied the ship. It's crazy how one substitution immediately made the team both more offensive and defensive.

Football coaches will study him when he retires.

Not the first time this happen either.

Posted above I guess but I love that comment from him about Sarri's son as a motivation. I love Jorginho's personality. Would love it if he spoken perfect English he'd be able to express himself with more depth.

Can't still deny in Prem against high pressing sides he is in trouble and should be nowhere near in Ballon dor talks but in European football he is a master.

He could be in City which we all need to realise.

He's a top quality footballer, his football brain makes up for his lack of physical attributes and he seems like a proper leader. Agree he's not Balon D'or material or anything like that but we're lucky to have him, i just wish he's try a few long through balls now and again, he showed he has it in his locker in his first season here but like everyone else lately he's become a bit risk-averse in his passing.

Another excellent performance by Jorgi. Love that him and Kova now often look for passes through the lines.

It help when the opp allow you time and space even on the edge on their own box

Haha well to be fair you can only beat what's in front of you. It just so happens that what was in front of our midfield yesterday afternoon was more often than not a large amount of empty space.

Usually your team works hard to create space even then it is usually very2 limited in dangerous area, yesterday game was just crazy.

Lampard would have had long shot hattrick against yesterday's Norwich

Against small teams he's great. But then again against the top teams he's also great. Maybe just great regardless.

Should be getting the golden ball. Won two top trophies. Apparently all Messi needs to do is smile, actually show up for the Argies and win a 3 team tournament to be favorite though.

I thought it was poor, certainly more intent but his execution was appalling. Had all the time and space on the ball and consistently failed to hit good passes to the forwards making runs.

Clearly we were not watching the same game.  I thought he was very good at linking up with the defence and didn't lose the ball in our half.  Fabregas-type killer passes is not how to assess whether Jorginho had a good game.

It's sort of a basic requirement for a midfielder who is supposed to be a regista or whatever

If we're also going to praise Jorginho for 'not losing the ball in our half' let's give Chalobah player of the year for tying his shoelaces correctly.

No it's not, otherwise he wouldn't be shortlisted for ballon d'or.

Chance creation isn't his job.  Ball retention is.

I don't expect him to hit those passes though.

He has never been good at those. Sideway passes is where he is very good at.

I watched Tielemans yesterday against Brentford, now that is the guy who can make line breaking passes with ease

If you called him a regista then it is his job. If his jobs is just to retain the ball then he js just basic dm

Jorginho is the player that makes tons of progressive passes every season, this argument of him being just a sideway passer has been dead for some time now, he is a complete regista both with the ball and without it.

Jorgi has had a stunning few months, winning everything he could - but is not Ballon Dor material in my eyes.

Simply doesn’t make as much of a meaningful impact as others on the list.

Someone like Salah, who is in the form of his life (and who for me is the best player in the world at the moment) should get it, or someone with the genuine ability to change the result of a game.

I don't disagree that the execution was poor. But he attempted several forward passes that at the very least kept the opposition guessing. So if he can consistently look through the lines (and above) and pull off the occasional good pass, he can be so much more of an asset. And I thought he did that here.

Without pressure sure, with pressure, nope. He will lose a lot ball and we will be in trouble.

With Jorginho it is all about doing what he does best which is to help with the ball circulation, and defend central area.

Jorginho in the first half against Norwich:

◉ Most touches (68)

◉ Most passes in final 1/3 (20)

◉ Most possession won (6)

◉ Most duels won (5)

◉ Most tackles (3)

◉ Most fouls won (2)

◉ Most interceptions (1)

◉ 1 Assist, involved in 2/3 goals

Half time score 3:0. If that was a bad game from Jorginho just by looking at the first 45minutes then that standard would suggest that winning 7:0 wasn't good enough.
