Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

When Italy play England, Jorginho will be on full display there is no running or hiding from it. So either he disappears and we don't really notice him, or he has one of those games where he just runs the show. He could also just have an average game.

....

What a fine piece of analysis, he'll either be invisible, brilliant or avarage  :happy001:

I am really2 curious Gol do you know what  Jorginho really provide to the team?

Why Tuchel, Sarri played him?

Sure.

@LongtimerLurker's analysis is on point, believe cause I saw here at some point that some basically believe or believed that Jorginho has never ever had a good game :drinks:

With Jorginho, I feel he's a good player. But I feel a system where we play him in front of the defense does not work against some opponents. Maybe against opponents like Man Utd, or maybe against Arsenal towards the end of last season, or maybe against some opponents last season.

So, because of that we can be using that system at times but in some matches, I will like us to have a different system. And again I kind of like for a team to have not too many different formations, but at least more than one formation.

I feel like last season, we only used one system. I want us to have at least two different formations this coming season, so that when we are playing against some teams, we can use the second formation.

In the system we had last season, I feel Jorginho has a weakness to his game, physical weakness. That could be a weakness against good opponents. So I feel when we are playing some opponents, we should play a solid 4231 with two solid DMs. And that is why I think we need to buy another strong DM like Declan Rice for that type of system for next season so that we can use the two systems next season. I don't know if we have the financial muscle to do this kind of thing where two players who I think  are world class will be playing thesame position throughout a season. This will mean reduced playing time for them.

I don't know if Declan Rice can accept to come to us and be doing that, and I don't know if Jorginho can also be playing that role for us. But, if they do, I feel it will be very nice.

Then we can challenge for the premier league and the champions league again.

I think it's totally legit to have Jorginho in the discussion about Ballon D'or, it's the first time since 2012 that we reached the CL final and the first time for Italy to reach a final of a major tournament also since 2012:

Modric won the CL and lost the World Cup final, our team doesn't have Ronaldo though so Jorginho winning the CL and losing the Euro in the final is very much comparable, specially since Messi and Ronaldo couldn't do much in Europe and in their domestic leagues and let's be honest, the Copa America isn't that much of a big deal prior to quarter finals/semi finals.

We had the highest amount of clean sheets and lowest goals conceded in the CL with Jorginho covering a lot of ground, he is a key player in our CL win and for Italy reaching the final of the Euro, here are some of his CL stats from this season:

For Italy Jorginho continued to do the same thing and he has topped the following categories:
Most touches ✔️
Most fouls won ✔️
Most interceptions ✔️
Most possession won ✔️
Most passes ✔️
Most passes into final ⅓ ✔️
Most accurate through balls ✔️
Most distance covered ✔️

E53eepdXIAwNhkx?format=jpg&name=large

In fact Jorginho covered 11.12km every 90 minutes on average which makes him the best per 90' and second best in total, only Pedri* has covered more ground (76.1km).

It could happen that the PL might get the first Ballon D'or winner since Ronaldo.

*Maybe we should offer 100m for Pedri instead of Rice, just saying, Barcelona might need it in order to be able to pay Messi his wages for 2 weeks.

It will be interesting to see how he plays versus us on Sunday.

I noticed against Spain the Italians played very deep and Jorginho was making interceptions yet making very few passes as Italy was restricted to just counter attacks.

Yes noticed that too. And yet being restricted to counter-attacks you'd think Jorginho would have been more influential in the long passing to find an out ball to the forward players. But he wasn't.

I don't think Jorginho is really a long range passer, not like Luiz and actually he doesn't do the vertical on the ground pass the way Busquets does either, he does the medium and short range passes and does a lot of  defensive work.

I don't really care about most of the stats. I use stats in  my work a lot and have done some at University long long ago, they only go so far.

The stats that make sense to me is that when Jorginho plays the teams he play in most end up with decent results. For all I care he is just a good luck charm or a mascot.

What I also think I know is it would be totally senseless for Chelsea to buy Rice and keep Jorginho. We certainly don't need both on the field at once.

He sent Chiesa and Immobile on their way a few times. Probably more times than Verratti & Barella did between them.

But first and foremost an excellent defensive performance by Jorginho vs Spain yes.

He has a realistic shout if he wins the player of the tournament in the Euros. If not, the Messi and Lewandowski campaign might win it due to goals

He had one successful long range pass against Spain, Chiellini had more accuracy and successful long range passes than Jorginho. He was quite ineffective to control the midfield and help Italy get past the press.

Total for the game - 33 passes. 78.8% pass success rate. 1 long ball. 0 accurate through balls.

I don't think so.

This thread can two ways in the next 24 hours. Italy win and Jorginho recycles with the best of them, comparisons with Cruyff, Pele, Messi and Maradona will be drawn.

If Jorginho doesn't recycle Italy to victory some posters on here will have to be talked down from jumping off tall buildings.

God it's exciting!

For me Messi would need to win the Copa America, otherwise it would be too much forced to have him in the conversation.

I think Messi would win the Ballon D'or uncontested if he wins tonight, he's just too much of the easy choice for those who decide it.

The Ballon D’Or is for the European Player of the year not world. Players win it by what they do in the calendar year playing in Europe. Tonight’s result shouldn’t have any bearing though like a lot of awards is a popularity contest.

He did it, first big title for Argentina in a long time, Di Maria was huge in this final he scored and then at 85'+ passed to Messi that could finish off Brazil but Messi lost control so it ended 0:1.

I think that it's a bit harder to win the Euro though but I guess he's getting it like you say.

Hmm not if it isn't taken into account officially as charierre says. I feel like people will still vote for Messi anyways tbh. But we will have to wait and see.

The recent Jorginho for Ballon D'Or chat takes the cake! This thread is actual parody now.

That narritive isn't really pushed by Chelsea fans though. But the media and his Italy teammates have.

No most of us know better.

If England win the Euros tomorrow morning and Mason plays his usual 7.5/10, having also won the Champions League and, you know played the pass for the winning goal, is he in the conversation for the Ballon D'Or? Of course he isn't, despite having had a better year than Jorginho by streets.

Pure parody.

It's no more a parody than the sheer desperate lengths some here are going to to downplay him.

If Italy win tonight he will be the only regular starter in the two European Championship winning teams of this year yet it's just a coincidence and two entirely different set of team mates are carrying him, apparently.

And if England win then Mason Mount can make the same claim, so you also think he should be in with a shout for it?
