Was the most dominant player in La Liga and Copa America, winning the latter and lost the league in spite of his efforts. He will win the Ballon d'Or at a canter, given the results are heavily weighted towards international competition.

Lewandowski shouldn't be anywhere near the conversation. He is a wonderful player but scoring 40 goals in a league where defending is optional at best is not an achievement on the scale of the other three.

Jorginho is there because he is a meme. Emblematic of the modern football hipster, where football is played in hypotheticals and internet debate rather than actual things happen on a field.

Every time he has been on the pitch in a competitive game this season we have conceded. That has to be a worry.

It is difficult to vote for Jorgi though, Jorgi has been very influential for us and Italy but it is hard to say that he is more important than Mount, Kante, or even azpi for us, or the two cb and Donnaruma for italy.

He is no Ronaldo, Messi, Maradona or Pele in that he does not carry the team on his shoulders and does not have those game changing moments of greatness. He did not win them all because of him, he did because he was playing within a very good and solid group of players. He is an important part of that machinery but, if it wasn't for Giroud we would not have gone past Atleti, Werner Madrid, and we won the CL final thanks to Mount's vision, Werner carrying the defender and Havertz great run into space. So no, he is a very good player on his day, but those finals are not down to him exclusively but due to be playing in very good teams.

Honestly Jorginho should have  won balon dor easily. If he won motm in both final, it is very2 difficult not to vote for him, he will have tons of equity.

The point being that it won't be that hard for him to get at least some vote here and there because he played in all finals and contributed either as a key player or as a sub that scored in the penalty shootout. Modric won it by losing a final and by winning the CL.

Modric won it by being the best player for both rm and Croatia. If Jorginho is at least the 2nd most important player for both italy and us, he will and should win balon dor

He won it by losing the World Cup final, Jorginho won Euro, CL as a key player and scored in the shootout in the Super Cup so he will get some votes, you said it will be difficult to vote for him but nobody actually got to be so much involved in all these titles as him.

He has the strongest shout of Ballon d'Or trophy-wise. Only way he loses now is Messi-bias and Lewandowski being given one because of last year.
