Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

You know when you go ten-pin bowling and the kids need the ramp to roll the ball down, thats what it felt like watching Jorginhos penalty.

Problem is Mount is not a great pen taker either, who is next down the line? maybe Havertz or Ziyech

Dont blame mount for that.

Half the squad could of done better, TT himself ffs!

Lukaku has a pretty good penalty record. Hard to put Lukaku in a pressure situation though seeing as he sh*ts himself so often.

Lukaku scored every penalty for Inter, but maybe not the most confident right now? Maybe Ziyech has the best technique?

His head's gone bless him. All the pressure of that world cup qualification failure weighs heavy. Apparently he's even looking to get a sport psychologist. TT has spoken about him not being at his usual level. Look it was an awful pen and he has to do better but, I don't think Jorginho should be the focus of that below average match performance. Most were poor in that first half, the second half was better.

The attack didn't get much chances and the changes did slow the momentum just as we started to get chances. Ironically though it was one of the subs that made the difference.

Not his best performance but yeah I wouldn't single him out as the main culprit for today. A lot of players failed to move the ball quicker and play more direct.

I actually think that before the penalty he was having a decent game, in the first half we had 70% possession but in the second we actually attacked them and he was there as the anchor in the midfield and did his role. Not every player needs to go forward, just look at the match against Arsenal where Jorginho didn't play, we were very much unstable and unbalanced as a team, today we controlled the game and in the second half the goal was coming one way or another. I mean the poor penalty ruins the game for Jorginho and he should be put off that duty from now on, but in the match itself there was only 1 team playing so if we say that Jorginho had a below average performance what can the whole West Ham say?

Just saw a clip of Klopp being asked if Thiago (a similar type of player and one getting similar stick to Jorgi) slows their play down and he burst out laughing.

In the build up to the Merseyside derby SKY have just shown a short montage compilation of Thiago for Liverpool this season with Souness bigging him up. There is no comparison to be drawn with Jorginho at all. Thiago running big distances with the ball, step overs, early long passes, going past opponents, strong tackles. Everything Jorginho can't do basically.

How many assists does Thiago have in the PL?

27?

The correct answer is 2 assists this season. The same amount as Jorginho, but while playing with Salah, Jota and Mane that scored 22, 15 and 14 PL goals.

Gol, Bryan Mbuemo has 7 assists for Brentford from midfield. Kulusevski has 6 for Tottenham. If we follow your logic here, does that mean they both better than Jorginho and Tiago?

Should we buy them?

Come on Gol, we shouldn't have to lower our standards. Fabregas consistently achieves double figures in assist playing in the same position.

Jorginho has his uses and that's it.

If the case then if anything that backs up my point about the harsh press the 'controller' types get as last season Thiago was getting slandered to the ends to the earth and back.

Those guys probably play more forward you know more up the pitch, I mean Kulusevski is an attacker. Should we buy Kulusevski? Sure he's better than Werner.

I only see that you said Thiago does what Jorginho doesn't do but the number of his assists are the same as Jorginho while playing with 3 players that have scored more than 10 goals, I mean Salah scored more than 20 but sadly we have only Mount that managed to score 10 PL goals this season so it must be such an easy life for Thiago.

They play in the same position the same way Mount and Hazard do, on paper maybe but in reality they have totally different jobs.

I'm not lowering any standards I'm just saying that Thiago even as a better player than Jorginho has the same amount of assists this season while playing for a better attacking team.

Let me just turn on my time machine and bring back Fabregas...

Sorry @Gol15 it’s time for Jorginho to go back to the football retirement league over in Italy where the game is played at his speed. Actually he might have to drop down to walking football.

No problem with me, I expect him to be sold in the summer. But I'm a bit sad that you already forgot just how much more vulnerable we were just last match while Jorginho didn't play. He managed more than enough seasons here and has never been lower than top 4, that's good enough all things considered.

They have the same job, they just do it differently. 343 deep lying midfielder, it's just Cesc is braver. Jorginho can play like Cesc if he wanted to, he has shown multiple perfect passes forward
