Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

Imagine. Given that he is so talented an vitally important you would have thought Frank wouldn't have had him sitting on the bench so often.

Perhaps because Frank knows he ain't all that.

Featured in 44/55 games this season...

I mean I get that Bayern won but you automatically came here and replied to me 6 days late, news flash Jorginho didn't even play today, why don't you trashtalk our best player Kovacic that lost the ball in a way that Jorginho never did in 98 games for us this far huh?!

Only way we sell him is if we sign rice. jorginho is the best we have to play as a deep lying midfielder. This desperation to sell him is strange, but there will be lots of suitors for him.

I'd personally rather sell Kante to sign Rice and use Jorginho and Rice as the rotation options for one year whilst we suss out if Ampadu or Billy can deputise for Rice.

Kante is already in a stacked midfield with it looks like at least 6 players competing for 2 positions. I don't see a need for Kante when we have Kovacic havertz and mount.

Agree with you on Kante, Jorginho I think will also be surplus to requirements, especially if Rice comes in.

He'd look world class in that Bayern team!  That said, I was hoping we'd move him on this summer but with Sarri getting fired that does not look the case anymore.

Not quite sure where this narrative comes from that only Sarri will want him, seems a pretty lazy myth given Pep was desperate for him aswell.

Furthermore, Pirlo was a regista so there's every chance he'd want one for his Juve team and alas go after Jorgi himself.

I think the reverse of this bit is more accurate. Only way we sign Rice is if we sell Jorginho. A lot of the recent reports indicate this is likely the case.

Yes I just meant we wouldn't lose one without gaining the other. Doesn't matter which way around.

My preference is to sell Kante to fund Rice though as otherwise our backup to Rice is Billy, Ampadu and two players who can't play that role (Kante, Kovacic). Makes me feel a bit nervous.

Because it seems as though Lampard is going to play Kante there. And with Jorginho playing as soon as the game opens up he gets exposed. Plus Jorginho cant play in any other position. We need to trim the squad down and bring in funds to help bring in other players. Thats why people want him sold.

Does it? Kante didn't play there against Bayern. I don't know if Lampard has ever played him there. Kovacic played there and was rubbish.

When the game is opened up Kante also gets exposed in that role. He has never been that good at positional discipline. I'd rather Havertz played on the right of the midfield 3 (which is where Kante played on Saturday and where he usually plays).

But Kante can run, and can tackle Jorginho cant. Yes Lampard has played Kante there, Villa away, Watford at home, West Ham away. Then Kante got injured. He didn't play there vs Bayern but Kovacic can play there so it doesn't matter. Plus Lampard rates Gilmour. I'd  play

         Kante

Kovacic   Havertz

Ahead of who? Wouldn’t get in ahead of Kimmich & Thiago who are both on another planet. Tolisso is more dynamic, he is maybe on par with Groetzka.

2yrs ago, yes but with the way the PL has moved on in the last 2yrs I doubt he will be interested. Sitting him deep behind De Bruyne & Foden/B. Silva will be a nightmare as they will be very susceptible to counter attacks. You need a ball winner at the base of that midfield.

Kante

Mount Havertz

Ziyech Werner Pulisic

Its great i like it, but i removed Mount for Kovacic for you. No need to thank me.

Mount and Havertz partnership overwhelms any other combination so I can't agree with you there at all. Kovacic can't play there since he is naturally deeper in midfield, he can only replace Kante but not Mount and not Havertz.

I disagree.

I disagree.

Mount is far more effective in pressing, killer balls and the cohesion is just better, there is very little chance that he would get dropped since Havertz doesn't press much and Kovacic has been underwhelming as a player in the final third.

Lampard could afford to drop Kovacic this season, but not Mount.

We need Mount for his dead ball skill, who else will take free kicks ? Plus you get the bonus of a player who, even on a bad day, will do the hard work of chasing, until he drops.

Now that Sarri has been sacked from Juventus, it seems the chances of Jorginho moving there have practically gone to zero.

That implies that there is only 1 person in the whole world that would want to buy Jorginho, which is pretty silly.

Outside or Sarri and Pep, dont think anyone else would go for him

The rumors that Sarri wanted him were shut down by his agent when he said that Jorginho hasn't spoken to Sarri in a whole year ever since Sarri left and around that time Juventus signed Arthur so even that speculation looks like the media just pushed that narrative.

Judging by the looks of it, until someone actually comes for him there is nobody out there but that doesn't mean that he can't be sold. After all he plays his role well and he's also in the Italian national squad, IMO a club like Valencia should be able to buy him for 40m pounds if they wanted to.

But keep in mind that even if our midfield is decent, we have been struggling to use Kante in the best possible way ever since we failed to replace Matic with Bakayoko, so if Jorginho is sold or if he stays we still have that problem regardless.

If the front 3 score regularly, and Havertz chips in too we have enough goals in the side. Not every player in the team has to score. Mount can maybe play in games where we have more possession as he is more of a goal threat than Kovacic but he isn't a better player. Kovacic work rate is just as good, wins more tackles, more interceptions. His ability in tight spaces is good, his ability to beat the press and break through the lines is something Mount cant do.

Just a shame nothing hardly comes of his breaks, where as Mount does produce when he robs the ball, he's more dangerous, he's already shown that in abundance this season.

I still think its all irrelevant because both will be in next seasons plans, don't know about Jorgy, but i'll be surprised if he's still at the club tbh
