Jorginho is.... (well now was) a Blue

No he's right in this situation, he has to pull him down or do anything to stop that, any other player takes a tactical foul, and DM of all people SHOULD definitely be taking a tactical foul.

Jorginho could have injured Robertson since he was in full pace there, the cross bounced once between 3-4 players and ofc Kepa can't save anything...At some point you have to see that the person with the ball has so much space in front of him that it's a check-mate, Jorginho could only stop that attack by getting a yellow or red card and even for that he had a second of decision making. I won't say that Jorginho is at fault for not being a dirty player.

A dirty player? It's called being smart, that's why they call it a tactical foul. Any player who cares more about their reputation than winning is a fool, simple as that. Any DM in the Premier League takes him down, really disappointed Jorginho didn't, he's usually quite smart.

Complaining about Jorginho giving away too many tactical fouls earlier in the season was used as a stick to beat him with now he decided not to give away a tactical foul it's also been used as a stick to beat him with...the guy simply can't win.

It's a risk to make an injury on someone there, we can choose to blame him for not choosing to get a yellow/red card in a situation where otherwise in 9/10 times he doesn't come on top but in the end that's not really why we concede goals, when he was getting many yellow cards it wasn't helping much either. Just look at the Firmino goal, same situation but from the other side and just with less urgency, enough space for a cross and an easy goal, the ball didn't bounce from the ground but it's basically the same thing.

At some point our keeper and defenders should do their job, nobody can do it for them. I have said that even if we buy Casemiro and any other top DM and play all of them with Kante in our midfield, we would still concede these goals, we can't clear a cross and you can't avoid having to deal with a cross forever.

I choose not to blame him because it would have been a dirty foul, remember when Ajax wanted to commit a tactical foul and got 2 red cards against us? They all looked pretty stupid and dirty. Jorginho at least isn't dirty, I can imagine myself being super pissed if that was James running and some guy from Liverpool hitting him hard and taking him out with an injury...

Come on Brutos, everyone can see that robertson needed taking down. A goal down, second to last game of the season in the last five minutes? There really shouldn't be any debate here.

And if he gets a red card and Liverpool scores anyway because we can't defend set-pieces? ::clap2::

Good, i'd love to see him break a leg or tear an ACL. Had he done that i'd have paid for a pay rise myself for Jorgi.

He wasnt getting a red card on the wing with 2 or 3 players in behind him to cover. He was 40 yards from goal. Not even we could concede from there.

Well I agree...but then again that cross wouldn't have been a problem for A.Cole or JT to handle either.

I haven't seen the replay so I may be mistaken but it looked to me like Jorginho would have had to launch into the tackle - which most likely would have been a red card. Tactical fouls are only possible when you can actually get close to the player so as to warrant a lesser punishment.

Then he'd have still done the right thing.

Yea I know, I'm just saying that sadly or not, Jorginho isn't that kind of a player...

He seems a lovely lad, but I don't think I have ever seen any supposedly "top class" professional footballer labouring with less natural physical gifts. He has no pace. He has no strength. He has no aerial ability. He has no dribbling ability.

When God was dishing out all these attributes Jorginho must have been in the toilet.

Well since you pointed it out, you win so we can all go home now

The system was setup for him to fail tonight, against the high energy Liverpool midfield, he had no chance with Kovacic next to him. Neither of them could cover the space or have the legs to last 45, let alone the full 90. I have no problems with him giving out tactical fouls, our defenders are too nice to even take one for the team on many occasions this season

Yes :laugh2: Among my best football memories, a match when the whole Bridge (minus a few intruders) sang Jorginho's name by the way. Thank you for making me feel better :good2:We dust ourselves off, and proceed to win to clinch a CL spot.

I don't blame Jorginho at all, in the matter of fact, I believe he was one of the best players on the pitch. That decision anyway was just plain stupid of him and nothing can change my mind.  Hurt Robertson? I mean come on, this is 100% risk free situation. He either tears his shirt to pieces or body checks him. Either of the two works and THANK GOD, Robertson is not going to the hospital. It's not like Roy Keane or Ryan Shawcross tackle.

Btw, neither of the City players I would described as dirty players, yet they lead the league in tactical fouls and they would never ever let someone go like that.

If that was Reece or Mason, I'd be ok, they are young, green they have a lot more to learn. But from Jorginho? Didn't expect that.

I repeat again. I rate his performance yesterday my problem with him was this and only this situation. It was a brain fart for some1 so intelligent.

He’s not good enough in this league - it’s that simple. You will not win a league title with a central midfielder like Jorginho in your side trying to play this way. He’s not got the physical attributes which are so essential in the Prem.

He has no pace & no strength, you can’t get away with that in this league.

Does he have quality at ball retention and moving the ball around, giving players options? Undoubtedly. Unfortunately, that’s not enough in this league, the second we lose the ball teams are past him. Particularly with the high intensity/high press way that Lampard wants us to play, it leaves him so exposed on the counter.

He’d be best going back to Italy where the flow of the game is slower and less physically demanding than the PL is.
