Chelsea v Leicester City (PL) Sat 22nd Dec 15:00 UK

We need a good early start ..........but we never seem to do

Could be a banana skin if we only play for 60 minutes as we seem to these days

Got my mate coming up from back home for this one, he broke his duck off back to back losses recently but if we lose it’s his fault and he’s banned for life.

And so, I can analyse them, for Leicester:

My first thoughts:

1) Chilwell and Ndidi might not have fully recovered from injury. Would it be worth giving them rough treatment?

2) Ricardo Pereira is a Portuguese international. He played for Porto/Nice as a maraudaring left-back before joining LCFC. He's quick. a good crosser and can score the odd goal. The best thing to do is to have Willian harass him on the ball because Pereira is not a good defender. I was wondering whether or not we should be playing Alonso but in this situation there are IMO two approaches: 1: Willian and Alonso combine to obtain possession from Pereira or 2: Willian covers the suppression/tackling/marking area while Alonso acts as a spare man within the box.

3) Wes Morgan is getting old; he's been making more mistakes than during his title-winning epoch and some LCFC supporters say that Evans should be in the side instead. Hazard shouldn't have too many problems dealing with him.

4) Maddison is their main creative outlet and is one of their most impressive players this season - his shooting, both long, using dead balls and from within the box, might get something from nothing, he's technically gifted, fairly hard-working and energetic and a decent passer with good vision. However, he isn't particularly strong, so maybe Kante/Azpi can bully him off the ball. Those two might have their hands full.

5) Vardy is Vardy. He's not as quick as he once was, but we still need to monopolise possession as much as possible to prevent Leicester from counter-attacking. Good thing Kovacic was selected.

EDIT: We should have too much for Leicester but you never know. Depends on what Chelsea turns up today.

Form means nothing to Sarri.

Same players getting picked regardless of form.

RLC not starting today is criminal.

I was 50/50 on Emerson/Alonso starting today TBH because Pereira is quicker than both.

I assume Willian was played to help suppress the Portuguese RB Ricardo Pereira, who can be a real outlet down that flank.

Watford away will potentially be a tougher game, so I would rest a few players for this.

No way. We did that against wolves and see what happened. Lets take it one game at a time. I say lets bash them 4-0 at halftime and then rest players

He started in a match 3 days ago. This is called rotation and it’s what we have been crying out for.

So why is Willian starting yet again? He’s played more than anyone out of the attackers.

RLC is one of our most in form players, looked good when he came on against Brighton, played well in mid week and yet finds himself back on the bench again today.

Doesn't make sense.

Wolves and to a lesser extent Brighton show what can happen when you look comfortable and then switch off.

The squad can be complacent at times and I'm not sure that it relates to the resting of players. Even our first-XI side last week were quite complacent in parts.
