February 3, 20197 yr Early days and it was only Huddersfield, but he looks different gravy to what we suffered from the always offside/falling over one...he looks a bit leggy and at 31, his pace not the quickest, but his movement looks so good. Just a shame it took the board till January to back Sarri in signing him rather than doing the deal last summer. Would have made a huge difference to the league season me thinks.Agreed. What I enjoyed most yesterday though was seeing him hold off a defender with his back to goal and play a 1-2 with Hazard. The days of seeing Morata flop to the floor are truly behind us.
February 3, 20197 yr Doesn’t fall over .. likes to score.. feels good to finally have a striker.. plus he is Argentine .. you would rarely see him not give it a go..
February 3, 20197 yr His first goal was dope to a striker, if he can feed of those kind of goals we will be laughing. Second goal was probably off target until it was deflected, but it's great to see him having a pop from distance because those things can happen.

I had the shot for the second goal tracking right for the top corner ... if it was off target and deflected it would have gone down as an own goal.

Maybe your'e right...i think ts too far out for them to take it off him, but from the one camera angle you can see it was looking off target, not knocking it, i want him to shoot at every opportunity, i want him to feast off his greed for goals, even deflected goals.
February 3, 20197 yr It may have curled into top corner, or hit the crossbar, who knows? Either way it was a f*cking awesome goal. I agree with some saying he looks abit leggy, oh I really wish he was 5 years younger. Still think he will be a success. Even 15 goals don’t look too ambitious!

I was against signing him at the time but in hindsight we really should have made a massive play for him in 2013 when he left Madrid.
February 3, 20197 yr If he scores once in every two games which is his usual ratio I'm happy, we just need a goal threat up there.

I was kinda put off the signing when I saw him gain a lot of weight and with him being like 31... But I think he'll do the job for the end of the season.

His hold up play, passing and vision overall is superior to Giroud as well. Obviously he lacks the pace of Morata, but he has the strengths of the Giroud with elite finishing. You can see him already direct players around him on where they should be and how he likes the service. It's not just the goals that are going to improve this team, but having three levels of distribution capable from Luiz, Jorginho, and now Higuain should open everything up a bit more.

To the contrary he looks a proper footballer.. the technique displayed in the first touch.. made the right decision most times -when to pass when to hold.. will get better with game time .. he came short and stretched the defense I think he looks a great signing..not just to do a “job”till the end of the season.

February 3, 20197 yr He was lean playing for Milan if you look at the videos of him playing, it just reminds me of when the opposition fans used to constantly call Frank fat. Edited February 3, 20197 yr by Malcolm9
February 3, 20197 yr Eden Hazard pass combinations with Chelsea strikers this season Higuain vs Huddersfield - 21 Giroud vs Cardiff - 15 Higuain vs Bournemouth - 14 So already, Hazard is linking up with Higuain more than he has done with Morata and Giroud all season. Not only is Eden Hazard linking up better with Higuain but Higuain is much more potent as a goalscorer than both Giroud and Morata Few people have said it but Higuain could actually be the difference in us finishing top 4 this season. Him and Hazard could potentially form a partnership to fire us to the Champions League
February 3, 20197 yr The opposition needs to be taken into account, City next time will be give us a better indication. I too expect Higuaín to improve our chances of making top 4.
February 3, 20197 yr A proper striker at last. May be short term but the deal with have with Juve meets our needs.

He put on weight when he went to Juve and I always thought that was a little off putting but obviously if it's not impacting his performances then it means nothing. He's obviously not fat... Just by footballing standards it's rare you see players with a belly, he's definitely lost it now though I was talking about before.

We'll have to wait and see, I'm not going to get carried away just yet, he is 31 and this is a new league for him. I hope he'll be a great signing but as of yet we still don't know. But I'm very confident he will at least do the job.
February 4, 20197 yr I’m pretty sure I’ve read somewhere that Higuain has a tendency to go missing in big games, so I’m not expecting him to make a big impact against City. Of course I hope I’m wrong, but I think he’s going to have a quiet month, however he’ll start banging them in again when we play easier teams.
February 4, 20197 yr On ?02?/?02?/?2019 at 12:24, Ploki said: I disagree. It is just shortsighted imo. Of course Sarri wants Higuain because he doesnt really care about the club. It might improve our chances this season but will decrease our chances over a longer period of time. It is no coincidence that Gazidis first move in Milan was to send Higuain away and bring in 23 year old Piatek instead. Gazidis did not care that Milans manager Gattuso still wanted Higuain. Piatek scored two goals in his first game from start in Milan btw. This is why a club needs policies against older players so that a strong manager cant run over the club, like Sarri did in this Higuain deal. What action do you wish the club had taken then, instead of signing Higuaín on loan? As for Sarri "over running the club", I think that's a very strange way to look at it! Obviously Sarri is going to prioritise this season over future seasons. He would be mad not to as Chelsea Manager. No other Manager would be any different. But as it's a 6 month loan deal, I don't really see how that will have a negative effect over any potential targets in the summer. Edited February 4, 20197 yr by mclovin83

A lot of that comes from the national team, and based on Argentina results, you could say that for nearly every Argentine player. One thing that should improve the team no matter what is his passing. When he drops back, he's delivering the ball wide to improve the attack and then moving. I posted earlier, but he brings the best of Giroud with lethal finishing. A week off, and we need Luiz to be at his most focused, brilliant self in this game. and on your second point... if he's banging them in against the likes of Wolves, Leicester, Bournemouth, Southampton, Everton, West Ham... all teams we've dropped points against... Top 4 will take care of itself...
February 4, 20197 yr Lets not get too excited just yet, Morata started just as well for us and look at how that turned out

Top 4 will take care of itself... Not only or majorly. He was criticised at R Madrid for that precisely, disappearing in the big matches. I hope that even if he does not score, his presence will intimidate the defences of the other teams. It will be a change to have a striker that is seen as a goal threat, and to play with 11 and not 10 (due to Morata/Giroud lack of threat or to the use of a false 9 with Hazard).
